DSM salute

DSM salute - May 12, 2007 01:15 am UTC

As the weather is getting nicer I'm seeing more and more DSMs on the road, which always lead to the question, "I wonder if he's a member?". I was thinking members of Club DSM Canada could give a little salute when you see another DSM on the road to signify your a member. Kind of like motorcyclists wave to each other on the road. Hows that sound?

I usually look for the Club DSM plate frame and I generally do the wave. Here are some of the following results in (%)I got while performing the simple wave:

08% - Wave back
12% - Ignore me.
20% - Being female drivers are not interested in a return wave.

The remainder of the 60%... Think I'm gay and looking for a good time. Priceless.

I think a thumb up out the window would be good and more universal for "excellent ride" than a wave; of course I hope the responding person does not think your flipping the bird.

Thumb up should become our wave.

Now, what is the shocker? Sounds like serious injury as a result.

Shocker.. hmmm.... what if they're not a member? Would they take offence to it? Especially the females. I saw a nice 2GB Eclipse (grey) on the way down to Niagara Falls last weekend, followed me on the 403, and I was in the Talon. It was a chick and she didn't wave at all. Probably not a member of the board.

Thumbs up or "peace" I would do... followed by a BOV salute.

PEACE UP, is more than enough.
or instead of the BOV salute why dont we just do the WG dump salute?, that one i like!!

I always flash my highs or give a wave. I've seen a bunch of DSM's since I put my car on the road this year, and I'm sure I've run into at least a few of you. One big difference between clubDSM members and non-members, is that members actually show interest in your ride when they see you. Sometimes its as if non-members aren't even aware of what they're driving. I'll agree that a salute should be made though. Its always a day maker to see a fellow club member on the streets.

Waving and hand gestures are a good start, but also very common amongst enthusiast. The salute should be something very unique to DSM's.

I suggest that we all wave a wrench when we see each other.

LOL waving a wrench out the window. Can I wave a tire iron or my gun?

Do any of the other regionals have a gesture we can steal?

I think we should wave at flatbed tow trucks.

HAH a wrench! I like the message that portrays smile

How bout we just wave any broken part we have? I'll be waiving my timing belt out the window

Re: DSM salute - May 12, 2007 05:47 pm UTC

I usually stick my hand out the window and put it really high in the air. Sometimes I wave it like I just don't care.

I don't think I've ever had anyone wave back. Not as many club members east of Toronto I guess.

I was just thinking of mounting my front plate properly, and that reminds me - I should stick the frames on.

I'm sure Ziggy still has a stack of them?

We Jeepers already have the standard Jeep wave. Honda tried to pull it off and it just looked foolish on the tv ads. Ill gladly wave at dsmers but most that I see up hear are beaters, even mine. laugh
