No boost

No boost - June 19, 2000 04:44 am UTC

I know that this question has been posted and answered before, but I can't remember what the answer was. I just put in my busta boost controller and set it for 14psi. The next day I was driving and I noticed that the boost was down to 10psi. So I tried to turn it up again but nothing. It just stayed at 10psi. I am sure the bc is fine but I can't figure out why I can't turn up the boost. Any ideas?

The exact same kind of thing is happening with my car. It also has the Busta-boost controller. It was only about the 1st day or two than the boost was controlled by the boost controller, now it seems like the car has a mind of it's own. Anyone know what's up with these things?

Hello guys, possible reasons for the boost now set at 10 PSI and not being able to increase the boost maybe from a boost leak. Check your IC pipe connectors and the vacuum lines associated with the b-bc. Another suggestion is to take the b-bc apart and see if the balls and springs are aligned. I am currently looking for springs that are the right size and don't require any cutting. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll send you one of the b-bc's that I have in my car. They are the first ones and hold 15 PSI and 18 PSI perfectly.

Later, Vlad.

Why don't you guys remove the bbc and see if it's a boost controller problem. If you get more thatn 10 psi without the bbc, than you know the cause. If you get the same boost levels, something else is the problem..

I take it you guys have made sure that you've tapped the lines correctly and accounted for the boost control solenoid ? Sounds like the wastegate is seeing an open pipe of air rather than a bleed.

Thanks Vlad but I am sure that it is not the b-bc. I must have a leak in my ic or piping. Does anyone know the easist way to check for a leak?

Hey there Rashaam, you could remove the ic and check for pin holes at the inlet and outlet. You can also plug one end and blow through the other to see if your ic is leaking. You should be able to do the same with your ic piping also.

Thanks for the tip Vlad. I tightened the IC clamps and the boost came back in a BIG way. In third gear at 3000 rpm the gauge was reading 17psi. So needless to say I had to turn it way down. Thanks everyone for the advice.
