NEW PAYMENT POLICY

NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 26, 2006 02:14 pm UTC

Unfortunately, I must announce a new policy at RTM.

As most of you know, I have been supplying parts to a lot of you for quite some time now, and have built some really good relationships with some of you.

As a result, in some cases, I have in effect extended credit by allowing some of my good customers to take parts they have not yet paid for. I have also ordered in parts for good customers without taking a deposit. This has gotten somwhat out of hand, and I am currently owed THOUSANDS of dollars, all by GOOD customers.

I am unable to continue to operate in this fashion. I need the cash in order to continue to operate my business. Unfortunately, some GOOD customers feel that I am hounding them or treating them like a crook, because I ask them to pay for parts they got 5 weeks ago, and asking them to pick up parts I special ordered in for them. Some GOOD customers are even re-selling parts they have not even paid me for yet. Others have owed me for over a year!

As I said, this cannot continue. If you are one of the ones I mention above (and you all know who you are), please make arrangements as soon as possible to clear up your outstanding balances.

Also, because of the way this has gone, I AM going to require that in future anything I order in special and don't normally stock, the order will need to be accompanied by a 50% deposit. Also, no parts can be shipped or taken in future until paid for IN FULL. I believe this is not unreasonable, and I regret that a few GOOD customers and members of this board have made this necessary...

Thats how it should be Ziggy. You don't pay, you don't play period. If you get too close with your customers, they will screw you over. I have learned this the hard way and always require either a 50% deposit which is not refundable if its a special order or a full payment. The customer has to pay in full to get their parts.

I hope those "Good" customers pay you and if you have all your records, you can start taking people to court.

I hope the people who owe you money pay up soon. I am really surprised that you allowed that to go on, letting parts go (even to the best of them) is a mistake, once peole have the parts there is no incentive to pay.

50% deposit and full payment before they take parts is the only way to go.

Good luck.

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 26, 2006 09:23 pm UTC

I am not worried about being screwed, they are all good guys...that is what makes this so difficult. Each of them is going to say "but I never jerked you around, why are you punishing me?". Thing is, NONE of them have really jerked me around, it is just becoming too much. A couple have already contacted me to make arrangements, and I am sure the rest will shortly...

Any that DID screw me will end up in the same position as Chris OHallorin...I will see them in court wink

The new policy is 100% fair, and easily understandable...
Especially with clowns like Chris O'Hallorin trying to take advatage of your trusting nature.

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 27, 2006 10:05 am UTC

I'm shocked people would even take parts without paying. The thought never even crossed my mind. You people that haven't payed should be ashamed... That kind of outstanding money is really tough on a small business because that money is needed for restocking. Clear things up with Ziggy guys.

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 27, 2006 10:48 pm UTC

This is what it is suppose to be Ziggy. I never let people take my rims unless they pay. Even small parts like lug nuts too. You are welcome to come take a look, check them, touch them, but if you want to take them home, payment first. This is fair enough. smile

I should consider myself a little more lucky than, even if I order rims/tires for customer without getting deposit, if they disappear when the products arrive, these rims/tires usually can fit other car and I can simply sell them to the others. I understand that most parts you deal with are for DSM only, something like that....

You know me quite well Ziggy, and what i stand for. I agree with your business decision all the way, i've always given you generous downpayments on parts you've had to order in for me and paid you in full before you shipped out!

I think this is the best thing for you to do, for yourself and others. I've had some run in's with a couple guys here in town that i consider very much good friends of mine over being slow at paying me back for goods or services... And its very hard on the friendship! In the end i think you'll be happier, and the customers will be as well!

Cheers!

Hey it just has to be this way. You have built up enough of a rep to not have to hang yourself like that anymore.

Btw, do you have a link or something that shows pricing on all the stuff you can order? I have seen you get alot of stuff for people here that inst on your www.

Thanks --J

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 28, 2006 02:13 am UTC

Ziggy has a pretty decent site. Right on his signature block on his posts. www.rtmracing.com
or https://reliabletool.ca/xcart/home.php

It would be helpful to have access the specials there, and utilize the payment and shipping services from the site, and make things a bit easier with payment policies. I see many have been satisfied with his service with personal touch. I think things are taking a good turn with his announcement. Hopefully this will allow him to keep his services growing. And as the DSM community keep changing, and people pass DSMs to others as they go on bigger and better things, new and old DSMer's can reach out for his services without much fuss. Good luck Ziggy.

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 28, 2006 11:42 pm UTC

There is a LOT I can get that is not yet on my site. I am currently in the midst of winding down my other business, my industrial machine shop. I am going to be done here about 3rd week of August, and then I can start working on my webstore. Right now, I just don't have time.

I will be taking a small vacation from Sept. 13 to October 5, then I will be working on the parts sales FULL TIME, and I hope to be able to give even better service than I have to date smile

I can basically bring up anything from Extreme PSI. I have other sources also, but this is where most of my stuff comes from.....

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 29, 2006 03:10 am UTC

Ah so i can scope out e-psi for parts, and then assume $$ are close to that ?

Thanks again for the response. I would much much rather buy from a Canadian dsm dood who supports the forums.

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 29, 2006 12:57 pm UTC

Exactly. On little stuff, price will be more or less the same, definitely less than if you paid shipping to you from Extreme, as I get large shipments brought up to me. I DO have to charge shipping from me to you, though. Sometimes on the bigger stuff this makes my price high, because of the double shipping. In any case, I can ALWAYS save you the brokerage fees! If there is something on one of the other sites you are looking for, email to ask, and I will see if I can get it. Also, after October, my webstore SHOULD be fully stocked and functional smile

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - July 29, 2006 03:37 pm UTC

thanks for the reply! I'll be looking for a suspension solution, most likely something mild like grs'2 , eibachs , but also alll the bushings , and new ball joints just to replace everything. I still cant get a definate anser on whether i'll need a camber kit or not with less than 2" of drop. Thanks

Re: NEW PAYMENT POLICY - August 01, 2006 12:37 am UTC

Best way to contact is:

rtm@mountaincable.net

The "bigzig@mountaincable.net" account has some sort of problem..

Jeremy, email me exactly what you want, and I will get you pricing.
Kevin, street disc is $179.95 plus shipping to you (probably about $10.~$12. plus taxes.

I still have a couple more weeks here winding down the machine shop operation, then I hope to be able to find the time to start updating my webstore....you will EVENTUALLY find everything in there, but in the meantime, just email me and let me know what you are looking for and I will see what I can do...
