1g Keyless entry

1g Keyless entry - March 05, 2013 11:36 pm UTC

Alright, I have installed one of those generic keyless entry set-ups for my 1g. The doors have been upgraded with actuators and the aftermarket brain will be in the cabin.

The question I have is: Is there a way to use the existing door connections to wire up the actuators to the aftermarket unit for keyless entry? By this I mean, inside the door resides a 3 prong connection in both doors for that effect, obviously made for the OEM keyless system. It has power and ground, as well, I'm guessing, a switch wire for unlock/lock.

Where is the relay for this OEM switch and can it be used with the aftermarket unit. If so how and which wire?

I've read this:

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/alarmdetail/766.html
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/446575-power-locks-control-unit.html

some others but that's the main ones. I can get it to work with the aftermarket unit only but getting those wires through the door and dash is a pain and figured using stock harnesses made for it would probably be easier and look better.

The 3 wire would be for the door lock switch. You could use the wires but you only need two of them. You will need two relays bosch style will work fine. The chance of you having the factory relay is slim if your car doesnt already have power doorlocks. It a pretty simple install all aftermarket alarms are capable of controlling door locks and should have a simple diagram for the 2 relays.

What keyless system are you working with?

Just a random "made in china" one. Came with a brain and actuators with remote. I actually got it to work today. It's a random mod, but it made my day, it's simple in its idea but it sure does give its weight in gold in terms of practicality. You were right on only 2 wires being needed. I used the OEM harness that was in the door (Used ground and signals for driver and only signals on the passenger side). Works like a charm. Thanks for the help!

I was playing like a little kid with "lock....unlock...lock" neighbors must of thought I was going nuts tongue

Glad you got it working.

Seeing as we're talking about keyless entry, and you folks are pretty clever, are there any aftermarket dongles that work with the stock 2G system?

Which stock system? Stock alarm or power door locks?

There is an alarm, and last time I took the rear 1/4 panel off, I saw that I have the module. So, I'm going to assume both as I do have power locks.

We were talking about this during the weeks, Alex said there is some fancy trick to sink up a remote with the stock module.

How is your alarm activated? By locking the door? I asume you dont have a factory remote. Did 2g come with remotes?

Re: 1g Keyless entry - March 09, 2013 01:21 am UTC

No remote. Mitsu says my car didn't come with one, but the keyless entry module is present in the car.
My alarm is activated my locking the doors with the key.

From what I know the keyless module will interface with your factory alarm. They all mostly have a signal wire to send to the factory module.

I do believe you are correct.
My alarm is only activated via the key lock on the exterior of the car. If I take my key from the ignition, and lock the doors from the inside, it doesn't activate.

Yeah there will just be a switch on the back of the key cylinder. Should be an easy tie in. I used a cheap remote start on my Oddessy and got keyless acess.

That's option B. A second party alarm system. I'd like to keep the stock system seeing as it's already there.
Are we talking about Alex Akachinskiy?

Yeah we are, I was hoping he would have piped up by now.
The last post here sounds like what he was referring to, the question is how do you know a fob is compatible: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/97199-question-about-factory-alarm-2gs-2.html
