BANNED BUSINESS's

Norwalk Arby's. REMEMBER DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY OR EVEN GO INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE NORWALK ARBY'S. ARBY's doesn't want us there, they do not like our "crowd".

Wakeman Hardware. Another business that doesn't get it. The owner of the hardware store also owns the vacant lot next to our shop, this year it was roped off as he will not allow us to park there, even after I mowed this property for 2 full years for him as a (free) favor. Do not visit the store, do not use his bathroom.......he doesn't like that either. He is also one of the last or at this point probably THE last remaining business is our small town that is fighting having the street closed off for our event.

Only 32 weeks left!!!

Nah, I'll probably just upgrade the B16G for an EVO16G. That should be enough.

So you can't have any race seats in DSA/DSE?

What kind of times were people running last year in DSA & DSE?

Stock appearing exterior, Turbo, engine, and oh crap.... Full interior?

May have to "borrow" some from my winter beater.

Hello.

The mass of these two class' goes like so; DSA is low 12, high 11 and the DSE is low 11, deep into the 10...

Nope...

Your turbo must look like this:

This is where a sleeper 16G comes in from Forced Performance wink

Re: Shootout 2008 - January 10, 2008 06:53 pm UTC

Hello Randy.

I do not think that this Turbo would be accepted in the DSM Stock Apearing (DSA). I think that they mean a 14B looking Snail.

Now, I could be wrong, you could ask Dave B to confirm that the above Turbo is acceptable for that class.

I don't listen to the gossip. I don't have much time for forums anymore, minus this one when I can. The issue is simply the fact that Dave is a baby but has run the shootout since it's conception. Some key guys may refuse to show up.

Shep will be there, he doesn't have some huge ties to Buschur besides the block.

Rau however is a Magnus machine.

AMS? That should be fun.

Pruven and Dynoflash will be there, and I'm sure the Exedy Buschur track Evo won't be unhappy to enter into the EVO Quick 16. wink

Re: Shootout 2008 - March 11, 2008 02:17 pm UTC

For those of you who are planning to attend the shootout to "race" there are a couple of gas stations in Norwalk that sell E85. They are 'Fuel Plus' on 211 Cleveland rd and 'Schilds IGA' on 171 Milan. From what I understand this 100-105 octane E85 is cost effective and popular with the folks who can get it. Just a heads up.....
Posted By: Tim Grechin

Re: Shootout 2008 - March 11, 2008 09:39 pm UTC

You have to tune for E85. It's not like race gas in terms of a/f ratios needed. You need a lot more injector and an a/f wideband gauge kit which read lambda, not even mention you have to understand what lambda even reads.
Posted By: Ryan Laliberte

Re: Shootout 2008 - March 11, 2008 10:13 pm UTC

Yes, just to add, you can't just throw in a tank of E85 and run crazy boost and crazy timing. Most cars running E85 are tuned for it and have the fuel support to use it.

Hardware is just as important as tuning for it.

For me it is not a question of supporting anyone. I think it is a fantastic event, and look forward to seeing DSM's on the track all day long. I WILL be going.

Who else is going, and where will you be staying??

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 24, 2008 09:56 pm UTC

Plantation again. We made reservations last year, had to cancel them due to the car not running (and thank god we did, it rained), but we'll be making reservations.

I want to trailer the car down this year. I can get a trailer, and want to rent a truck. I just have to find someone over the age of 25 to rent the truck for me.
Posted By: Adam Grenon

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 12:06 pm UTC

You don't have to be 25 to rent a truck.
Posted By: Gates Perry

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 12:09 pm UTC

^^ FYI, you HAVE to be 25 or have someone 25+ sign for you in order to rent anything from most companies. Car, truck, motorbike, boat... They don't like renting out to "youngins".
Posted By: Adam Grenon

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 12:19 pm UTC

Bullshit, I've rented many vehicles without question, even cube vans, trailers and heavy equipment.
Posted By: Adam Grenon

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 12:21 pm UTC

I'm 25 now but this was at least a year ago and I only had a g2.
Posted By: Ryan Laliberte

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 01:18 pm UTC

Nah, I even have a corporate discount at a few rental places, and I know for a fact, if you want to rent a nice big truck that will tow anything at say a Budget, Enterprise, National or Avis, I have to be 25.
Posted By: Jay McClelland

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 06:08 pm UTC

Our enterprise here. When I rented our cargo van for work only made sure I was 21 or over and had a G license.
Posted By: Ghislain Goudreau

Re: Shootout 2008 - April 25, 2008 08:35 pm UTC

It sometime does not have to do with the rental but with the insurance co.

I recently rented a 20 ft'er from Discount.

Bah, don't play into the soap opera.

I don't care who's running it as long as I see some crazy fast cars and a few hot broads and drink beers with my buddies.

I hope to drive my car down this summer, might not make the spring cruise though. Looks like I'm probably going to need a flywheel and a few other things.

Steve, I have a way to get around this for you. How old is your daughter turning?

See, what you do is celebrate with the family the weekend before, then let her have her party the weekend of the shootout. This way, you won't have to be around for a bunch of screaming children (That is if your daughter is turning a very young age).

Between that, and me only getting 2 weeks vacation this year, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass guys.. Sorry.

Fear not though.. there will be another Peckerhead Shootout. (Although every time we try and run that at Cayuga... we don'ty race. Gonna have to fix that this year..)

Sorry Zigman didn't see your post!

When I went (2006) I followed a bunch of people down (Ghis, Scott, Pete, Kevin, Ryan, Eric and company), which in my opinion was the best part of the trip and on the way back followed Mark, Andy, Rob, Steve probably forgetting someone.

I also liked hanging out at Buschur's shop, drags were fun to but because I didn't have a DSM on the road I wasn't racing which would have been more fun.

Maybe next year, especially if I get a permanent position at work and accumulate some time off.

Have fun Ziggy take some pictures!

I'm thinking attendence will be down this year. The whole GOBC isn't going this year at all. Hell I just got my car running again. I will miss the shootout again this year (as I did last year).

There is also the issue of the most recent Buschur vs Magnus crap that (I feel) will impact how many people attend. I know I was left a bit in awe of how nasty it got. I'm sure a large majority of NABR guys won't go this year.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I had always looked forward to Bacon gravy, real mexican food and lots of beer/sh!t-talking/sleepness nights.

Have fun!

I don't mean to go off topic, but I think this calls for another Peckerhead shootout!

I'm getting bored. Half the summer has gone by and still barely any DSM's on the track.
The next CSCS event, I guess I'll be the only DSM competing from this club in SS/PA class.

Peckerhead shootout indeed, but lets not make it in October.

Hopefully I will have something to run, even if it's only on the 14b.

I am not involved in NABR or in any of the political stuff. I am also not racing...just going to look at a lot of nice cars and see some races ...and have a little "holiday"...that is good enough for me.

Peckerhead shootout indeed!
He's gotta get off his ass and get er done though.

I'd love a track day. Maybe we should get Andy to organize it again (bahaha) It may even motivate him to fix the damn car!

But yes, before the snow flies please!

Back? Bah, they don't need to be back to give us updates.

Hell, I was sending out pictures of bacon gravy from the breakfast table last time I went.

Someone could have thrown us a bone of SOME sort while they were there. They suck. laugh

First SO I haven't gone to in 5 years. And you know what, I would have felt like I missed something good if Dave wasn't such a sh!t disturber.

Sorry I suck..but not all of us know how to send pictures from afar.

I didn't bring a laptop, and my cell phone battery died. I couldn't even PHONE home without a pay phone, never mind send pictures.

Anyways, I am not much of a photographer anyways...I am sure there will be MUCH better pics on you tube and elsewhere...

But it WAS fun, and the bacon gravy was still delicious smile

I was most impressed by some of the EVO's.....just amazing!

In the quick 16, 14 of the cars were legitimate 9 second cars

It looks like Pat (driver) and Mark (wrencher / tuner) from Forcepower won the DSM Eliminator with a 10.7@135 pass.

Ya, I think that was pretty much his only good run of the day. I think he was 11.53 the round before..

Shep's daily driver EVO went 9.9. I wish I could have a race car that went 9.9.

What a Shootout this year!!!!!
Didn't see any dsmcanada people there and im really surprized that Tim and Eric didn't come down.
Anyway....ForcePower and Team S.O.DSM was there in full effect once again. Didn't take quite the fleet we wanted to but I believe we had 12 or so of us there.
We did win the DSM Eliminator with the BlackBird and another one of our Team guys came runner-up in the DSA class.
Just for the record for those that are counting....I put down 3 10 second passes and of coarse with it being "heads up" racing, my slower runs were because I was shutting down at 3/4 track to save the car.
Again.....what a Shootout, weather was perfect and im still on cloud 9.
