Re: Shootout 2010 - June 25, 2010 10:24 am UTC

Has anyone booked their room yet? One thing that always bugged me about the plantation was that the pool was always cold, and never got to use it. I checked online, and there is a Red Roof Inn in Elyria that has an indoor pool and is pretty reasonably priced ($89. for Friday and Saturday nights, $69. for the Sunday night). I am thinking about booking there this year.
It is a little further to Buschur's shop and the track, but not as far to go initially....
Any other suggestions? Anyone booked yet??

I haven't yet, I was thinking maybbeeeeee stay over at the campground, however I'm not sure. Ziggy, how far is the drive, 8-9 hours?

Re: Shootout 2010 - June 25, 2010 02:57 pm UTC

Some of us are too old for camping. I think if I slept on the ground, I would probably never be able to get back up again, LOL..

I don't think it is THAT long a drive....I think more like 6,,,,,,

But I guess it also depends from where. From Brantford, you would be closer going over Detroit, but the roads I hear are pretty shitty down that way...

I cross here in Niagara Falls or Buffalo and come from the other side..

I wish I was still living in the province so I could make this. Have fun guys!

Hopefully I'll make the long haul out one of these years.

Re: Shootout 2010 - June 28, 2010 12:46 pm UTC

I did some more research, and just booked our room. We will be a little further than usual from Wakeman (Buschur's shop) and the track, but a lot closer to cleveland. There are malls and restaurants right where we are staying....PLUS....an indoor pool and terrific rates. I am sure we paid MORE at the plantation than we are paying here...
Anyone who is thinking about heading down and wants to know where we'll be, PM me..

If I get my car up and strong before the event I will be there, but things aren't looking so great in terms of $$$.

Hey Ghiz, just out of curiousity, how much is the Plantation charging? I am paying $71.10 for Friday night and Saturday night, and $62.10 for Sunday night...

Very Close to the turnpike

The basic rules are you can have 2 tents per site and you are suposed to only have 2 cars per site. (this can be pushed)
If you start sharing camp sites with others the cost to camp is almost nothing.
We have camped here for the last 6 years and its always a good time. Its close enough to the hotels that you can still hang out in the parking lots , but far enough away that you can sleep when you want to sleep.

The MIDSM crew will be leaving from my house around 12:00-1:00 on Friday if anyone wishes to roll down there with us.(even if you are not camping) I am sure we can get a sub-caravan to my house for people coming from northern Michigan. ( -TunnedDSM- can handle it as he is the reason we leave my house when we do smile As anyone that came last year knows, there is plenty of room at my house so the more the merrier.

You can PM/Email me for my address or any other info you need.

Here is a pic from last year after we first got there... this pic does not show ALL the dsm'ers that were there. There was alot more then this smile

I really wanna go, but I'm kinda on the fence on this one, I have no clue how much the entire round trip would cost me either $$S frown

Re: Shootout 2010 - July 15, 2010 10:44 pm UTC

That all depends HOW you go. If you go as a group in one car, split on the gas, share a campsite, bring a BBQ and do your own cooking, it would cost peanuts. If you stay in a motel for 2 or 3 nights and eat in restaurants it will cost a bit more....
