I really would have prefered to see you downshift into 2nd and then try to accelerate at 9000...

I'd me more impressed by fun and games if the guy did a 360 on the highway, now that would be fun and games.

I don't about you guys, but that isn't something I would ever purposefully do to ANY car. Doing something like that to prove your car is bulletproof does nothing but proove that you have no common sense. My .02

Do you blame the DSM haters
Look at the stupid idiotic things the owners do to thier cars on public streets.
In all that snow on the weekend we watched a 1G DSM fly past us up by Hwy #7 ramp on the 400 and wipe out at lest 2 other cars.
Then I see a vid like this...

People do just as much if not more stupid things in all types of cars. I hardly think the incident you witnessed is solely a DSM owner problem.

Reving a DSM to 9000 rpm isn't anything new, DSM are strong built, but there engines make too much power for everything else. Plus, its all about how you drive a DSM. If a granny owns one, that thing will last forever, if you have a teeny bopper, he will break it in a day.

Jesse I disagree, I drive the absolute **** out of my car and it never breaks.
I truly believe maintanence is the key.
Edit: Let me rephrase, anything that has broken was my fault, like my tranny, I got pissed off and punched the gear shifter when it wouldn't go into gear and that resulted in a broken shift fork. But the problem was the shifter cables not the tranny in the first place.

I definately agree that maintenance is the key. I also believe that its a different story when you purposefully do something stupid to show off. I drive my car hard enough from time to time as well, but I do not and will not pull a stunt like that; I have common sense.
P.S. I have seen the big apple. (from your sig)

That was comedy. Why not do it to the DSM to prove a point?! His car was thrashed, it can be replaced for like $1000 these days.
I drove a Suzuki Samurai for almost two years without changing the oil just to see when it would snap. My buddy drove his Volvo 265GT on some snowy roads pinned at the rev limiter for 2 hours until it pushed a rod out the side. Why not have some fun they were scrap.
