Hey,

so as some of you may know, I have a 99 chrysler sebring with the 420a motor in it. Recently installed a 16g hahn racecraft kit i bought off a guy with an eagle talon with the same motor. My AFR's are not the greatest and at WOT I get a lack of fuel at around 4500 rpm. I'm just wondering if putting an ecu from a talon tsi may help the situation?

No it won't.

420a and Talon Engines aka 4G63 are two totally different animal.

How are you fueling it??? Pump, Fuel Pressure Regulator, Injector, S-AFC???

Those ECUs aren't interchangeable.
Along with the DSM 450cc injectors, you'd have to change all of the engine electricals to match the ECU.

You should instead look into a Vortech FMU and a bigger fuel pump.

The 2GNT forums should have a wealth of info for you.

Its fueled by all the stock stuff, because I wanted to see if that would help first. Now I know that I definitly need a regulator, pump, injectors and probably the stand alone. Thanks

how much boost are you running? you will be alright with stock injectors until about 8psi. your going to need a new fuel pump, fmu, and missinglink or a fuel cut defender asap though.

Mmmm; FMU are not the best tuning aid.

I installed a Hann Turbo kit on a 2003/4ish Cavalier a few years ago. Local guy bought the kit from Hann and wanted a hand to install it.

Overall kit was not bad, just a few cheap ars component that we upgraded.

The kit came with larger Injector and a FMU. Gig was to tune it using a A/F Gauge and to bring up or down a Set Screw on the top of the magical FMU. Archaic if you ask me.

The idea of larger Injector is to provide more Fuel when needed. FMU do not remove Fuel at lower RPM/Throttle Setting. They somehow pull Fuel and add some under Boost.

Best would be to run a larger Fuel Pump, run an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator to bring Fuel Pressure to stock pressure, larger Injectors to provide Fuel at higher RPM/Boost Pressure and a means of controling the larger Injectors.

S-AFC or something like the Greddy E-Manage would be the best. And as a reference you should defenately run a Wide Band.

Any less of a set-up would be getho!!!

Ghislain.

if you search on 2gnt.com nobody runs a safc on a 420a, some people have and one or two still do but they pretty much hate it.
if you dont like the fmu, which most people running under 8 or so psi use without to much issues on stock injectors, you can step up to the hahn portfueler or if you have the skills to install it you can go megasquirt.

How much boost are you running?

Like the others have mentioned if your under 8 psi stock injectors, 255 lph or 255 high pressure fuel pump, fuel cut defender and a 12:1 FMU is your most basic setup that will work. It may not be the best but its cheap and works.

I think that very few people from 2gnt.com us the S-AFC because the FCD stops the map sensor from seeing over atmospheric pressure. So the S-AFC has not idea if your a 0 or 8psi. So you you tune it for 8psi but you only just getting a pound or two you'll be running really rich. I could be wrong on this, I just briefly looked at this topic a few years ago.

I've been running the FCD, 255 pump, and 12:1 FMU for 2 years (70xxx kms). I haven't had any troubles with it yet, other then and occasional back fire on long pulls when shifting.

Hope this helps.

That's right, with the factory ECU, an S-AFC will only tune for vacuum conditions (idle, cruise etc..) as well as adjust for slightly larger injectors.
You need the FCD to keep the factory ECU from seeing boost because it has no fuel & timing maps for that volume of air, and it cuts you off.
Once you're in boost, the FMU takes over and you are basically tuning by setting the correct fuel pressure relative to boost (not 1:1 like a stock turbo DSM reg).

This is a crude way to tune, but if you don't ask for much it's acceptable!
Standalone is best, but they can cost a lot.
