LOL Danger due to noob at work, that gave me a laugh.

Definitely love the 3000gt, have loved them since I set eyes on it while playing the first gran turismo.

Couldn't have been that important if it was only on facebook! Definitely worth the time you are putting in, you have good amount of space and that floor really makes it look nice!

Amazing! and GREAT taste in cars might I add. laugh

I'm a huge fan of the USDM 3000gt. That is an amazing platform to work on, and probably loads of fun to drive. Although the engine bay is crammed, I would still own one of these if one should cross my path.

Where did you find yours?

Calling that engine bay crammed is your entry for the understatement of the year award. If you drop a tool in one, just buy a new one (tool).

LOL.

I feel like even with the wax, it will be REALLY easy for anything as basic as a rock stuck to the bottom of a boot or a dropped tool to penetrate through the wax and leave the floor prone to staining/soaking. I'd think a heavy duty industrial floor sealant would be more what you'd want for an active workshop versus just a showroom.
Posted By: Mike Eng

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 22, 2013 06:43 pm UTC

waxed floor eh?

I see you're a master of the custodial arts wink

That "missing" piece looks like a drain or something. Surely some black paint can "fix" that.
Posted By: kent Hennigar

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 23, 2013 01:11 am UTC

Ya it is a drain I am going to throw some kind plastic or rubber drain threw cover over it to keep it looking nice smile

and heavy duty industrial floor sealant you say any idea were I can buy some.
Because it is prone to taking on scuff marks easily
for example I need to use wood under my jack or jack stands or it will mark the flour. But the great thing about these industrial tiles is I can get a floor stripper and just buff all the grim and scuffs away then re-wax it every year smile

Looks awesome man. Need flat screen and a beer fridge!
Posted By: Salomon Ponte

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 23, 2013 01:25 am UTC

Your best bet is to ask someone in the construction industry or go to a HHardware/HDepot/Lowes/etc. and ask.

Something like:

http://www.homehardware.ca/en/rec/i...y-Clear-Coat-Sealer/_/N-ntloq/R-I1817930

or

http://www.homehardware.ca/en/rec/i...ealer-with-Urethane/_/N-ntlou/R-I1817984

Just make sure it will stick to your tiles. You will likely have to remove the wax.
Posted By: kent Hennigar

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 23, 2013 01:45 am UTC

Already have the beer fridge wink

Now a flat screen I have not thought of that, what a brilliant idea you have laugh
Posted By: kent Hennigar

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 23, 2013 01:58 am UTC

Salomon You are the MAN !

God dam it I wish I thought of that.

striping wax is not that hard at all but the work involved in moving the GT 3000 I just snugged in the corner for a complete overhaul out of my shop is going to hurt more. weep

I am heading out east for a vacation but when I get back I will definitely strip the floor and apply what you are talking about.

great thing about these industrial tiles is you can strip it a million times and start over smile
Posted By: Salomon Ponte

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 23, 2013 02:08 am UTC

Just make sure that you pick up some that will adhere to whatever your tile is made of...that will be the key thing. I know they make what you need, and it's very similar to what I linked, it may just be a different product than what I linked.

I can guarantee you will be much happier not having to worry about wrecking your floor with the slightest thing.

Keep in mind, it is obviously a much more permanent finish.

Hope it works out. laugh

I hate having a shop were it is not pleasant to be in.

helps with the motivation when a shop is pimped out to the point were you enjoy spending time in it smile

Are the tiles soft? I ask cause I have used those dollies to move a car around before on concrete and it wasn't too bad.
Why not try those slide things that they market on tv to move furniture, at the end of the commercial they show a guy moving a car.
Posted By: Jeff Mitchell

Re: MAN CAVE 2.0 - August 23, 2013 03:45 pm UTC

A soft floor won't help. Same if it's dirty / dusty which obviously isn't the case here... smile

The problem is the casters that are on those dollies. The wheels are small, and notice they only have a single nut on top. That allows the base of the caster to pivot around and bind up the bearing.

The other model dollies that PA sells usually but not always (WTF?) have larger wheels and are secured on top by 4 nuts each. They seem to roll alot better.

Bryan you were right I did not even need a phone number or a recipe. Princes Auto found my info in minutes and refunded my money. I must say I love their policies of no sale is final unless your satisfied. When I get home from my vacation I will be buying the wheel dollies with the bigger wheels from Princes Auto.

Glad to hear it!
I actually now avoid buying stuff from them online because they can't do a look up like they do if you buy it in store, but they will still return it just at the lowest sale price.
