Well sh!t I guess you guys were right, today would have marked two months since I checked the board.
I feel like time is just passing by so fast cause I am basically not going anywhere and always in front of the computer.

I checked every few days to see if it would come back, it may be quiet here but still nice to have.

Very glad this is back! With NABR gone, the relics are slowly going away frown

This place brings back good memories. Miss you guys!
Hope everyone is doing well.

I sold my DSM a few years back. Bought a house, got married, we made a happy beautiful boy with a sibling on the way.

Looking to get an AWD shell from the states... We'll see where things go.

Re: Forums Down Time - November 03, 2023 12:23 am UTC

For the relics and old guys in this forum, I miss the banter, the glory days and the DSM dominance at the track. In my younger days, as I'm sure echoed the majority here we hoped these days would never end.

I bought Ghislain Goudreau's 95 TSi AWD 4 years ago hoping to rekindle the love, but time has gone by. I see the names posting here and I can't help but reminisce of the latter years. The DSM scene for all of us has become something of who we are. When I say that, I mean you know when you hear of the youth of today jabbering on about their Honda S2000, Subaru STI, Toyota Celica, MR2, or Silva S14... you will posture up, and have a proven flex that in the years of 2000 you had a bad ass AWD Japanese inspired car. You had your time, and you'll likely scoff but simultaneously admire the drive of the adolescent your talking to... because you're 40, 45, 50.... and this 20something year old is boasting on how fast their 2016 Civic is going to go with the Stage 1 turbo kit they bought from Amazon... not Ebay like we're used to....

Meanwhile you're rocking a 2 year old Suburban with the 5.3l, not because it's a big motor but because it's got heated AND cooled leather seats. Apple Car-play or Android auto and frack it's easy to get your kids in and out. It will also hold a full sheet of drywall.....

I write this humbly tonight as someone who used to be someone here... not just someone to be revered, but someone who was part of the scene that may of us look back on as a good time in our lives.

Club DSM Canada formed many friendships that I cherish today.

In the most informal permanent signoff I can do, AWDAuto.... OUT.

Love you all.

Re: Forums Down Time - November 10, 2023 08:15 pm UTC

Man, it's been awhile since I remembered about the forum...life gets busy with kids, jobs, hobbies, etc.

My daily driver is still a '91 Talon. Can't seem to let it go from the first one I bought in '97 that lasted 430,000kms to the 2nd one I'm driving now with 220,000kms on it. Almost every time I'm out in it somebody is giving me a thumbs up.

I actually have it on my hoise right now, pulling the propeller shaft to get the carrier bearings replaced. This is the same shaft from my first Talon that got rebuilt once so it'll be on it's second rebuild after around 520,000kms which isn't bad considering it's done a bunch of autoslalom.

Hi all!!
I'm still here, and still in the DSM game 25+ years later smile
Almost 8 years later and Dynotune Racing is also growing year over year!! Although we build and service more and more Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions these days, we still work on, build and tune DSMs day in day out.

Our DSMs are rare now and super clean ones hold very high value which you'd get flamed for even dreaming about back in the days, lol.

With all the other really cool cars out there in this age, I'm glad to see the platform is still alive 30+years later.
Cheers everyone!!

Still check in once in a while.

Mine is unfortunately just sitting in the garage, between kids and life I don't seem to have the energy or time to work on it.

Glad to see y'all are still sticking around! I'm sure we will eventually have a meetup again.

Re: Forums Down Time - November 20, 2023 07:07 pm UTC

I have been out of the DSM game for a while....but I still check kijiji and marketplace for decent ones all the time lol

This was always the go to spot to ask questions and just be a part of the scene. I spent more time on the smaller Maritime DSM site but always enjoyed the banter and info here

I creep on this site occasionally just to see if I remember any names of the OG folks lol

Re: Forums Down Time - November 26, 2023 05:32 pm UTC

I know this is a long shot....but any chance one of you lurkers has a timing belt tensioner tool I could borrow? I'm trying to change crank position sensor on a 95 head and rather not do the entire timing belt stuff at this time.

Wow, wipe the dust off the ol' login info. Still rowing gears and meeting up with some of the crew but it's nice to know the forum still has some life left in it.

Still can't figure out how to post a damn picture.

Re: Forums Down Time - January 25, 2024 09:32 pm UTC

Once or twice a year I check this board out for nostalgia. Glad to see others doing the same. This is the first post of 2024!

I did finally finish the rebuild on my '92 AWD about 5 years ago. I run 40ish psi of boost and could probably daily drive the thing but I want it to last as parts are hard to find.

Cheers guys!
