2gbrake upgrade - November 28, 2006 06:26 am UTC
ive done some searching and havnt come up with much,
i desperatly need to do my brakes before i get my talon on the road.
what will i need to do a 2g brake upgrade and
should i even do it
(its a 92 fwd by the way)
should i just get upgraded 1g rotors and pads??
i dont plan on having a crazy quick car probably somewhere around a 13sec daily drvr
Can he put AWD brakes on a N/T??
If you can, that would be a good option.
2 piston brakes and stronger than your stock ones.
Also, it should be pretty straight forward and won't break the bank.

Search for big brakes. You will want to look at the info for using brakes from a 94' awd. Not necessarily a 2g.

You need the calipers, caliper brackets, pads and rotors from a 93-94 awd. After that it is all just bolt on.

I did the FWD to AWD 2 Piston Brake conversion. MAJOR difference in stopping power. I also have Brembo drilled/slotted rotors with PVR Metalmaster pads, and when I slapped 'er on, well, lets just say, make sure you wear your seatbelt for that first time hard on the brakes.
Look for the AWD 2 piston calipers man, you won't regret it.
Also, Ebay has Brembo Rotors (real, not fake) for 200 bucks cdn shipped.

I just priced out some STI 4 piston calipers with pads, and rotors.. The calipers alone were over 1000, 250 for both pads, and anouther 300 for the pair of rotors... Anyone looking to buy Cobra brakes should think about getting the STi brembo's...

aaron, just as a not you can use a 2g awd caliper as well if that all you can find. They are both the same except for the way the flex line attaches to the caliper. The 1g's use a screw in fitting while the 2g's use a bango bolt.
www.roadraceengineering.com makes SS lines to fit the 1g with either the 1g fitting or the 2g fitting. Either route you go SS lines are always a good idea to complete the package, they make the pedal much firmer & more responsive(& its probably time to replace old/tired 14 yr old rubber lines.)
