Por-15 Group Buy - November 12, 2014 05:52 pm UTC

Looking to grab some Por-15 and I have a good deal on it but it's only a good deal if I group buy. So wondering if anyone else needs some or anything else from eastwood. From what I can tell it's flat rate, at least for the quarts of por 15.

Not sure how prices compare but you can get Rust Bullet locally here:

http://www.kapcor.ca/

When I was researching the best product to prevent rust years back, most liked Rust Bullet better then Por-15, so that's what I went with.

I thought you could get Por-15 here in Canada...no?

You can but it's like 60 bucks for a little can at Canadian Tire.

Yeah exactly and that Rust Bullet stuff is more expensive, I have seen Terry's car and all the por-15 he has used and it's worked great.

If no one else is interested I will more than likely be taking the CT route, was just hoping to save a little coin if other were interested in stuff.

Has anyone looked into this supplier?
http://www.canada-por15.com/

They are about a 30 min drive for me. I have not bought from them before.

Here is another Canadian supplier but they are in Quebec apparently. https://www.por15canada.com/
Have not bought from them either.

I will need a bunch of this soon as I have a new (to me) ride that needs some protection.

I have bought from the guy in Grimsby before. That is where I got the "Fireseal 2000" a long time ago. I think I still have a couple tubes of that.

If there is enough interest, I would bring it in.

I believe the POR15 (they sell a lot of other products including various topcoats, primers, kits, etc.) sells for $60./quart and comes in gloss black, semi gloss black, grey, or silver.

What about Zero-Rust?

A guy here at work who's building a 1G Talon (yes, I already found the other DSM'er at Ford) says he's used that with awesome results and it's way cheaper than POR15.

Was doing some reading on it and it seems everyone says it's at least as good as POR15.

He doesn't seem to like Zero-Rust or the Eastwood stuff nearly as much as the POR15, but he also used the spray-can Zero-Rust. I'd think that the brush on would likely perform better.

Nice find Sal! Found some people saying that Napa has it so going to try there.
Hopefully I can find some in Canada.

Re: Por-15 Group Buy - November 14, 2014 01:24 pm UTC

We used the POR15 on the subframe parts of the car (front and back) it is easy enough to use... we cleaned up the rust and flaky stuff as best we could and then used the 3 parts POR15 kits on it... The paint is super think until it hits the prepped metal... Two starter kits covered all the front and rear subframe.... We did not top coat since it should never see the light of day...

We order from the place in Quebec with little issues... The other thing we used was the eastwood frame rail treatment... http://www.eastwood.com/internal-frame-coating-w-spray-nozzle.html... this stuff seemed cool but you have about 5/10ths of a second to wipe it up before it dries... Ordered that from a place around st thomas (I can look it up if anyone cares)...

Bryce was happy enough with the POR15 that he is going to do the jeep frame with it when he pulls it off...

Re: Por-15 Group Buy - December 18, 2014 12:57 am UTC

So I'm going to be needing this stuff as well. CT sells it for $60 for 942ml I believe?? How much would your hook up be Bryan?

Ziggy - did you say POR15 comes in different colours? I thought it was just like a clear coat?

And Bryan you might know, or Terry might see this.. What did he do for his tranny for example? Did he have different colours of POR or did he paint it then seal it??

Solomon - I'm assuming you work in the GTA and not in brantford? My friend works at that ford dealership.

Also, if you goto NAPA I'm pretty sure CAA members get 10% off or something? I'm pretty sure I get a small discount at NAPA aswell through work.

Let me know what's up tho, it's time to work on the DSM!

Well take a look Easton site, that's what my plan was. I have decided I am not going to use it though, after some research it doesn't sound like what I am looking for.

Terry did the three step, marine clean - metal ready - the painted with black por15.
