AutoX 2014

AutoX 2014 - May 26, 2014 03:48 am UTC

Well, in all my years crossing, the only other talon I've ever seen was Tashko, but he's moved to a more competitive platform...obviously not a lot of interest in this group, but hey, you never know!

I'll be running the PITL series this year. First round was a blast, burned off some of my new direzza star specs and ended up 4th in class, 6th overall (around 80 competitors).

If anyone is interested in the sport, show up:) Best $40 you'll ever spend.

Yeah, I was there and the car is fast! Seeing your car tear up the course, I must admit I really missed my own 2GB yesterday.

Thanks Greg, though you were laying down some decent times in your 6. Once you go DSM you never go back baby!

I actually much prefer the PITL series to the CASC series.

Next one is June 7th at Bramalea Go-Train station.

The reason I prefer it is the laid back atmosphere, everyone is just there to have fun, no ego's or rule jockeys like you get at CASC. Though, having said that, the CASC venues tend to be top notch.

Sounds like a LOT of fun, and is close. But, I've never been or done any auto cross so not sure I'd attend.

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 28, 2014 04:47 am UTC

It is about as much fun you'll have with a Dsm carving corners. As I have never seen a Dsm be able to do more the 5 laps on a circuit without getting to hot or cooking the brakes or well breaking.....

Autox is the happy medium in my opinion. Keeps you happy and your car happy!

Bramalea Go you say....10 min away....hmmmm laugh

Think I may go, especially if the 1g is good to go! Always wanted to try just for fun. No competition as I need the car to be usable, but just to test it out to see its limits.

Gui, message me if you're going to go. I might go myself as thus far I have Saturday off.

Will do, but I'll most likely go. If not to race, than to watch what it's all about while eating some kind of fast food tongue

Essentially, this is what happened when I saw both Bramalea and car event together

You gonna break-in that new tranny and clutch at an AUTO-X Gui?

Nah, just watch. I know better than putting a new tranny/clutch through hell at an Auto X. wink

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 28, 2014 10:35 pm UTC

I was actually thinking taking the corolla for some fun around the corners as the back tends to swing A LOT tongue See its limit.

It's also a perfect time as it's going to the bodyshot for repairs from the rear ending I got from a school bus 2 weeks back and a "not so friendly" hit and run at a shopping mall (couple years back). That Corolla surely takes it for the team every day!

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 30, 2014 03:00 am UTC

Meh, I broke in my tranny at a drag strip followed closely there after by an autocross! Assuming my car is running after this weekends events, sounds like I'll see someone come by!

BTW, don't worry about whether you should enter or not. Just enter and have fun. You don't have to push the limits to have fun.

Oh, and stephan, don't be a p*ssy

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 30, 2014 04:01 pm UTC

Lol. If I don't get called into work, I'll come and watch for sure. Have to bed in the new pads before I beat on them.

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 30, 2014 11:15 pm UTC

Shouldn't take you more the 5km to break in new pads........

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 31, 2014 01:17 am UTC

The EBC redstuff says 500-1000 miles.

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 31, 2014 01:45 am UTC

Ebc says 100 - 200miles. Plus the have a track break in just like Brembo.

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 31, 2014 01:46 am UTC

500-1000 is when the noise starts.... but sorry I missed your up grade post thought they were just stock brakes.

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 31, 2014 01:50 am UTC

No worries. There's also the mushiness and that I need to buy new oil and cant afford new oil + gas + entrance fee for this one. I'm going to try for the next autox though.

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 31, 2014 01:52 am UTC

Mushy brakes and no gas is a bad combo on race day......

Re: AutoX 2014 - May 31, 2014 01:37 pm UTC

Here I was thinking the event is today. But it starts on June 7, so looks like I might just be able to do it!

Seems I had it confused with the other calendar.

Argh, sorry to disappoint anyone that was planning on coming by for a ride along, but it looks like I won't be able to make this weekend's PITL event frown
