Fuel Pump fitting

Fuel Pump fitting - April 20, 2000 10:02 pm UTC

I have been trying for a week to remove the fuel pump fitting on my 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi 2wd Turbo and I just doesn't want to break loose. I have been spraying it with liquid wrench every night and it still doesn't help. I have taken it to two different shops in BC and they both said that I would have to drop my gas tank, but the instructions on the VFAQ page say otherwise. Can anyone offer any info or recommend a shop that could install my upgraded fuel pump.

I want to crank it up!

Well, for me.. i wanted to do the same, i could not get the fitting loose in either the trunk nor under the car.
The local mechanic said he could chop the hose (between the two fittings) and i'd have to buy a new hose and fittings.
So i put it off.. had my ACT 2600lbs put in, and Arnel at Marco's was able to loosen it while the car was up, so i could undo it on my own when i got home.

But.. i hear that you need the pump to stabilize and give you more voltage but.. even with my 16g and stock intercooler, i was running really rich, o2 voltages in .98 ~1.02! So i never did bother with the pump [Linked Image]

Ya Arnel at Magnus had the same problem taking mine off. So I had to order a new hose from Concielli (Satan wanted $179 + tax). I've since got it and now just need to find a time to get into to Magnus again to get it all done up. Prolly this week it'll be in.

Later...

You can try hitting it with an air hammer for a bit (short spurts..) that loosened mine up..

My 1990 Talon was a pain in the butt cuz it was well rusted. It took two people with very large plumbing tools to unlock the flare nut. The job couldn't be done by one person.
I think the plumbing tools were close to 2 - 3 feet in length to give more torque. Good luck, and get someone to help you.
