High Z vs Low Z Inejctors - DSMLink Settings

High Z vs Low Z Inejctors - DSMLink Settings - June 17, 2020 03:10 pm UTC

Hey,

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the settings in DSMLink for High Z vs Low Z injectors? I installed a new set of FIC High Z 650s in my 2g and for some reason the base settings on the DSMLink site seem way off. They indicate a starting point of -31% and a 210 deadtime. If I use these settings the car barely idles, and when it does my wideband reads 17.8-18.1. The only way I can get the car to idle near 14.7 is if I either crank the deadtime way up, or increase my globel from -31% to around -25%.

Anyone have any ideas why this is? Its likely not an issue, just curious is all.

Yeah there should definitely be a difference between the two and idle is where you will see that difference. You should get a more stable idle but will need to adjust your settings, deadtime will be based on the injector but global should be based on the size of injector so if they were same size they should be pretty close. What's your deadtime at? most people go high z with larger injectors so I think most of the feedback around here will be with 1000 plus injectors but I guess we shall see.

Did you delete the resistor pack on the firewall? That's a must with High-Z and will make them do all sorts of funky things if not.

Yup, deleted the resistor box.

To get the car to Idle in closed loop and have fuel trims in a reasonable level my dead time is around 435. Seems awfully high, but I've never played with high z Injectors before.

Do you have any backfiring going on? What brand injectors?

Also some good info here:

It doesn't really matter what the deadtime number is so long as it works and gets the fuel dialed in. Deadtimes posted are just starting points and every car has different needs.

No backfiring, but I havent even had a chance to do any cruise logs or tuning aside of basic idling. Just seemed odd to me to have a deadtime that high, but if it seems normal then I wont question it.

I will update after I have a chance to do some cruise logs and eventually WOT tuning.

Thanks!

Good stuff, WOT should give you a good idea where your global needs to be and then you can readjust your deadtimes after.
