Can I use any steering wheel quick release adapter? Are they universal?

I need one. And there's a guy selling this in Toronto. [Linked Image]

He doesn't say what its for.

I think you just need to make sure the spline matches.
Just bring your impact and test it.

The quick release is universal, the hub adapter is vehicle specific.

Well since I posted this .. Post. 4 of my local buddies have lost their plates due to mto infractions.

I think I'm gonna keep my own airbag steering wheel.

Is it written that you are required to maintain your airbag functionality if the car comes equip with it?
When I got my first car, the airbag was U/S and the inspecting company couldn't have cared less....

In Quebec any modification to the original air bags is an automatic removal from the road and a large fine.

It's part of an Ontario safety inspection. Vehicle equipped with airbags, must be functional.

SRS light on = fail.

What about an evo wheel? Has the airbag ever been tested to work. I know the plug is the same.

Also, aren't you legally allowed to take your airbag off (kid in kid seat, personally if you don't believe it's safer to have a bomb explode in your face)? I have heard of people passing because they unhooked it completely but still have the wheel inside.

I ask because I know for the 2g, SRS light can come on just for the fun of showing you it exists tongue

If the SRS light on during the inspection IT FAILS by the letter of the law. But of course you will always be able to find a shop that has passed it.

I get that, but what if the SRS light isn't on, simply because it's not connected, or off (like the newish cars that can turn them off on some seats with the touch of a button)? Not trying to be annoying, just nice to have a concrete answer by someone who has to apply these laws.

If they have an off switch they must be turned on for the inspection. And if you have any part of the srs not connected.....the light on the dash is on. Well unless of course you jump the connector with a resistor to Fake an actual airbag is connected...

And the SRS has to bulb check when the ignition is first turned on so disconnecting the bulb is probably a bad idea. But like I said before there are probably many many shops that dont bother. I am just stating the Law.
