Anyone have a 2g Clutch adjustment procedure

Well, with spring around the corner (it is supposed to be +5 degrees in Ottawa today), I have begun thinking of my tranny issues.

Does anyone have a proper clutch (rod and switch) adjustment procedure which they would like to share? I would like to make sure of clutch adjustment and change my tranny fluid and bleed the clutch before deciding whether I actually have a problem or not.

My recomendation is this..... do it by feel. I can't explain it anymore than that.... they are supposed to have about .5" of pedal freeplay, but small turns of the adjustment rod do more then you think they should. It may take a few tries to get it in the right spot. Once it's done.... big difference.

I know what you mean about knowing something but not being able to explain it really well though.

I figured that that would be little help.

I would adjust the freeplay first. The pushrod that is attached to the clutch pedal (exits through the firewall), has a nut on it close to the pedal.... losen it. Then you can adjust the freeplay by turning the pushrod either in or out, thus increasing or decreasing the amount of pedal freeplay. You can measure this freeplay by putting a ruler, or tape measure along side the clutch pedal, then push on the pedal with your hand, and the distance from top of the pedal to the point where you first meet resistence is the freeplay. This should be around half an inch.

I am not sure if you have done the FCU and restritor mods yet, but I would recomend doing them, they give a better pedal feel. And you have to bleed the system after you do them anyways.

As for the tranny fluid, I would recomend Red Line MT-90. You need a touch more than two quarts, but you might as well do the Xfercase at the same time, it takes less than a quart... if you buy three, then you will use almost all of it.

Don't forget to check if there is some "wiggle" in your slave cylinder rod after. If it's tight then you're keeping pressure in the system and that's going to end up being instant crankwalk
