Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - May 04, 2017 01:52 am UTC

As you all know, I sold RTM Racing to Abbas a year ago. Without going into too much detail, I (as Reliable Tool & Machine, my former company) still supply Abbas with some of the items RTM manufactured. Most of these items were made in large batches to keep costs down, and I still have a decent supply of most items.

As most of you also know, I have sold the house I had in Niagara Falls along with all the Machinery. I now have limited storage space, and am trying to work out details to continue to supply Abbas with RTM products that I run out of. I am confident most items will be available for a long time yet!

One of the items I manufactured in quantity was the fuel sending unit for 1g AWD. For some reason, they are not selling as well as I expected. I am surprised, as the only other option seems to be the Full Blown dual pump hanger for a LOT more money. In any case, these are taking up a fair bit of space, and are tying up a fair bit of capital, so I am going to try to get rid of what I have, and then they will be discontinued. I have about 35 of these units available.

I have decided to drop the price on them to clear them out, and then I will be offering them to RTM, Extreme PSI, MAP, and anyone else who wants them to get rid of them.

Before I do, I would like to offer them at a special "group buy" reduced price to the guys on this board. I am offering the single pump unit for $195. and the dual pump unit for $230. I think the Full Blown version is around $375. USD. Price does not include pumps themselves, new gaskets, nuts, or rewire kit. Also, the outlet is just tapped 3/8 NPT and does not include the outlet fitting, as you might want a straight fitting or angled fitting. All of these other items are available anytime from RTM.

Here is how this will work:

I will do the organization. I will take the orders and collect the money. The units can be picked up from me in Stoney Creek (Hamilton), or I will deliver the rest to Abbas, and you can arrange with him to pickup there or purchase shipping, as well as to purchase any additional items you might want along with them. Abbas will receive a small amount for each unit sold, as I have no desire to compete against him, and he has approved this offer and arrangement.

You will never have an opportunity to purchase one of these for less money, and when they are gone, you will never have the opportunity to purchase one of these ever again.

They can be seen here:

I can't see myself ever needing a 1G sending unit - but they're so nice, I kinda wanna just buy one and hoard it just for the sake of doing so.

LOL. We know the 1g is slowly becoming extinct...but we also know anyone with a 1g is going to have problems with their unit eventually.

I guess it is just the rarity of the 1g now that is causing the poor sales...but I have a fair bit of capital tied up in them and would like to recover what I can.

If you want to buy one as a conversation piece to put on your coffee table, feel free smile

I am kind of in the same boat as Lucian as I am now on sump.

I will think about it.

I assume you can just grab the dual pumper and use an NPT plug so you can use it as a single till you need to upgrade?

Was wondering the same thing as Bryan about the twin with a single.

Also, don't suppose you have any 'excess stock' of the 1G tank/stud repair kits that you'd like to make a package deal with?

Would be much more interested smile

Re: Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - May 04, 2017 07:25 pm UTC

Bryan and Salomon, Yes the dual pump version has two ports that feed into a cross connecting hole, and the outlet also leads to that same cross connecting hole, so you CAN just plug one port and run a single pump. The single pump units were originally designed differently, and were not upgradeable to dual pump. Right now, they are all assembled as either single or dual, and it is POSSIBLE if you order a single unit you MIGHT end up with a dual pump unit with the other port plugged, but I can not promise it.

I have lots of stock on the tank repair kits, but they sell well and I will probably need to supply these to Abbas for a long time yet. I might even need to make another batch at some point. These are not that expensive, and I don't want to "clear them out", but if it will help sell the sending units, I will knock $5. of the repair kit, and $5. off the drill jig, so $10. off the kit with drill jig. I will still give Abbas his normal margin on any of these that sell as part of this buy.

I still don't want to get into the OEM nuts, gaskets, etc. Abbas has these, and they can be ordered from him.

I've forwarded two Americans to RTM for the tank repair kit in the past week alone.

I thank you, and I am sure Abbas would also. I think he doesn't find the time to be on here...

I'll take one of the dual pump setups. Ziggy, since you're in Stoney Creek, I'll come pick it up. Sending you a PM.

Got any 94+ vr4 big brake hardware kits kicking around?

Re: Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - June 12, 2017 02:09 am UTC

Yes, but so does RTM Racing. Those are an ongoing product that Abbas will continue to supply. I am not trying to undercut him, but support him. It is only the non Mitsu stuff and stuff that doesn't sell well and ties up tons of money that I am clearing out.
The brake upgrade kits are not something I want to clear out. In fact, I need to do another run of them soon, but RTM can supply you those...

Last few times I've checked it's always "out of stock". Guess I'll check again rotate

Abbas and I have just been discussing this. He was a little slow to re-order sometimes and this is what would happen. He was losing sales as a result, and so was I. Now, whether they are on his shelf or mine, they are available to be sold....

Are you in a huge rush? If you can wait about a week it would save Abbas one shipping cost. Otherwise he has to ship the lines from there, and I ship the hardware kit from here....

Let one or both of us know....

I don't mind waiting. I'm redoing the calipers I have in the meantime.

Perfect. I will get the hardware to Abbas on the weekend, and he can ship your order complete from there. Thanks!!

Ziggy,

Are these still available? Specifically the dual pump version?

Re: Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - July 16, 2018 09:39 pm UTC

Abbas still has them, but at regular pricing I believe. He might not have 90 degree outlet fittings, might need to use a straight up fitting and 90 degree hose end.

Re: Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - July 17, 2018 12:35 am UTC

Ahh, not interested in the mid-high $3xx range. Was hoping I could still get a dual for $230 and then the repair kit/drill jig to go with it. Oh well...

Re: Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - July 17, 2018 02:28 am UTC

Sorry. Back when I offered this I had cleared it with Abbas, and of course offered them to him at even less. I cannot legally sell these directly to end users without his OK. When there was very little interest and it became clear I would be sitting on them for a while, I reverted back to normal pricing. Given that the only similar option is the Full Blown unit at $370. USD, I think it is still a damn good deal at $325. CDN.

Re: Group Buy on RTM Racing 1g AWD fuel sending Unit - July 17, 2018 02:48 am UTC

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad deal but this is more of a 'nice to have' than a necessity and at the current price ($325 + tax = $367 + shipping ~ $380 CAD, vs $370 USD flat, free shipping, so not as far off) it's not worth the expense (to me). My sending unit is completely fine, just figure this would clean things up a bunch.

Abbas, if you're reading this, I'll buy a dual for $230 CAD and a repair kit + jig for $10 below retail. smile

I'm still on my stock setup... The RTM unit can't accommodate a 1000hp E98 setup like mines.... Great for a gasoline, race gas car....
