Exhaust Expander - October 10, 2016 05:01 pm UTC

I have some work to do on another guys car and figured this might make my job easier, I wasn't too happy with butt welding the exhaust, but will be giving it another go as cutting and rewelding should make it match up nicely. But now thinking lap welding would make my life much easier but not sure this is great for flow.
Just looking for thoughts on this, if you do use one which one are you using

If you're referring to a sleeve... On most of my old jalaopies that I've repaired without welding, I've sleeved the pipe with u-bolts without any ill affect.

This is what I am referring to, I guess I could throw a sleeve around and weld it but not a fan of how that would look

And you would recommend it or don't bother?

he said grind it And re weld cause a bad looking weld will most likely leak.

On my talon.. I have 2 sleaves on my car section.. They have 4 hack saw cuts on the ends and then clamped down with t bolt clamps. I also use a lot of exhaust paste. And have no issues yet.

Stacey on Trucks showed me this trick.

Yeah it works really good on regular aftermarket exhaust to get the dents out from where the clamps where. I havent use it for many years since all the exhaust I work on is flanged. I think you can by them individually aswell for alot cheaper.

Yeah you can Stephen, but I was reading that those ones are only good for fixing dent and are useless on stainless.
