Does anyone have a source for the dash lights for the heater controls in a 1G?
They are similar to the ones for the other dash switches (available at Radio Scrap) but are slightly larger.
I'm getting tired of guessing what the heater is set to during this dark time of year. Lotsa heat though so I can't complain too much [Linked Image].

Rob, in case you haven't checked with the dealer already, don't bother. They will want to sell the entire heater panel/cluster. If you find a source, be sure to post, especially if you can find the base also.

Ahhhh Man!
This doesn't sound too good.
Does this mean that there are a bunch of people out there suffering the same way I am?
So whenever you come across a parts car these lights are high on the priority list?
I've been looking for awhile now with no luck.
Anyway, the search goes on...

It's a shame I trashed that plastic trim with the bulbs when Craig Watson did my metal dash in the car. Hmm, I never posted a pic of it.

I used to work at a Dodge dealership here in Edmonton, and figured I'd pick up a new lightbuld at cost for behind my instrument panel... cost was $20 (dealer price... not the public price)

I nearly choked.

I can live in the dark.

That's funny. I happen to have a WHOLE bunch of them... Or ones that come so close to being the same that there's no difference. I used them in mine with no problems. The big difference is that they have mostly stranded wire instead of solid.

$20 from the dealer, eh? We'll talk. And be nice, or else I'll give them to Bob to sell and he'll ask about $19.99. (:

Then again I hope noone asks...Then I'll have to find them. *Sigh* (:

OK, so how much?
Radio Shack has a bulb #272-1141 that is very close also. The problem is that it has epoxy on the leads right at the bulb which makes the whole assembly too long. I bought two and have broken one bulb trying to get the epoxy off. The leads are stranded wire just like the ones you have. Another problem is that I think the RS bulb is not the same wattage as the original one. It is lower wattage I think. What about yours?

Let me find them first before I give you a price. I'm starting to get the dreadful feeling that I threw them out...

I don't know about the wattage, but they light up the same as the rest of the dash. They didn't have epoxy on the leads, but a thin black rubberized coating that came off real easy. No problem at all to install, but the wires hang out a little. Nothing to think about.

Hey All,

Just to keep you all posted on what I've got so far...
I have tried various sources. Hobby stores carry bulbs that are OH SO CLOSE (for model trains, etc).
I had pretty much struck out, so I called the dealer to see if they could maybe give me a pointer to a place that might have them. The parts guy says, "Oh yeah, we got those in stock". I'm thinkin', yeah right!
I dropped by to get them tonite and of course, the guy has gone home and the other dude behind the counter hasn't got a clue. Grreeaat! Some other guy comes by and says I pulled the bulb off of a PC board. OK pal, whatever. Then some action. The first guy, after cruising on the computer for awhile says, "yup, I can get it".
So here goes (This ones for George): MD832266.
This will get you a bulb AND socket assy for the heater control (supposedly). I now have two on order. I'll post with what actually comes in. BTW the price is a measly $9~ (a bargain at twice the price, hah!).
More to come...

Here's the story for anyone who's interested.
The bulb from the dealer is not identical to the one that was in the car. It is longer and the base is a little different.
IT DOES WORK THOUGH!!!!!!

Finally, I see the light!
