1995esi->TSI

Hey all,
I was wondering realisticly how much would it cost to turbo a 1995 talon esi?
I'm basicly trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to buy a low km esi and do the work or buy a tsi right off the bat..
Equally I relize that I wouldn't be getting AWD...but if theres a large cost diff. than I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

Any input would be great.

There demo car is pullin mid 11 with there kit with only bottom end work, full stock top end and cams, gears and all stock.

Your looking about 5-6g for a stage 2 with FMIC if u want faster few more g's

I just recently changed over to a hahn kit everything came in seperate boxes per items and area of install with full install details and all

If you can afford a TSi (which I couldn't , hence a 95 ESi) then I suggest you get one. I haven't yet got around to the Turbo but will do soon enough after this car is brought up to standard.
Not much has been done to it but since it's an N/T there hasn't been all that much gain. You will 'probably' get MORE and spend LESS if you get a TSi. With the money I spent (and will spend) on this car, it will do roughly half of what a TSi would with the same cashola put into it.

BOTTOM LINE: Go for TSi, if you can't afford one
then go for a consolation -> ESi (it can go fast but a LOT of money is required)

It depends on what you want and what your abilities are. My husband is very capable in the shop and has turboed his car for under $1,000cdn. Definitely not the way he would recommend doing it, but if you want to do it and do it on a budget... If you don't have the abilities and you really want a turbo go for TSI. It’s not only what the costs of it are, but the costs of your time and sanity to do it and tune it right.

By the time you buy a low km Esi and turbo its you could already have a Tsi slightly modded by then. And oviosly the Tsi has the stronger internals.And correct me if im wrong the tsi has a better flowing head not as good as the 1g though.
