Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201106:20 pm UTC
For the record, I played hockey all my life. I play both player and goalie. So I have a fundamentally strong knowledge of the sport and rivalry between those god aweful Leafs and rising star Ottawa Senators.
Would you bet your car that your team will make the playoffs this year?
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201106:27 pm UTC
Put it this way, if our record in the first 20 games is less than a 60% win..I won't be posting in this thread anymore! unless something significant happens and I have to comment on it ofcourse.
I feel a lot less confident in our roster not having Fisher (Hollywood) playing for us anymore
After the OCT 8th game, I'll personally pay for one those t-shirts to be delivered by Sparty Cat to your front door. Or at your workplace, whichever is more convenient for you! lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201106:32 pm UTC
Oh Im sorry Don Cherry didn't realize it was you. No I didnt say once Leafs will make the playoffs did I , But Im ready to bet money on Ottawa not making it. Does your hockey knowledge know what a rebuild is ? How can a guy who has hockey knowledge say ottawa will make the playoffs, when the fracking owner of the team expects them to be gargbage as usual. I am not the leaf fan that says were making the playoffs every year, im the type who will say it when I am confident. So what I will say is I expect the leafs to do better than last year. But the eastern conferance has just gotten so much better. Every team has added valuable assets, it will just be such a fun season.
Owner of the Ottawa Shitsters
"talking to the Sun in a wide-ranging interview on the eve of the start of training camp, Melnyk admitted he doesn’t expect the Senators to make the playoffs this season."
I would honestly rather argue with a MTL fan. Both MTL and TOR will be battling for a spot. While Ottawa will be battling for the bottom 3. Thats a fact.
So the question is are you ready to bet your car on the Ottawa Sens making the playoffs ?
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201107:02 pm UTC
HAHAHA this thread is going to turn into GOLD when the Sens prove everyone wrong. I gota show my support regardless of what our own GM thinks. And for the record, that statement was made before the pre-season began. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if our media was shocked to see the calibre of our rookies and net minder.
I'll bet mine if you bet yours
If the Sens make the playoffs and the Leafs don't YOU HAVE TO TAKE A PIC OF YOUR CAR WITH A SENS LOGO on the exterior (not the kind that says "sens suck") and rock that logo for atleast ONE WEEK of the spring season when our car's are back on the road.
If the Leafs make the playoffs and the sens don't. I'll gladly do the same.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201108:15 pm UTC
I am willing to bet $20 Deep. The addition of a goalie that can actually stop a beach ball and the rookies that are out to prove something will make all the difference we need.

Tim, First game is oct 8th. Tom is preseason. lol. But Mike we got a Deal. But regardless of leafs making it if your sens are in the bottom 3 then you still got to rock that sticker! They have minimal talent, its like little girls playing for the team lol. Spezza is a joke, I dont even like booing Alfredsson no more hes old and pathetic, The best talent they have is Karlsson. For god sake your highest scrorer had 21 goals . Anderson is a fluke and is going to suck. LOL. By the way your the first "real" sens or leafs fan that I heard would rock a MTL logo. Sounds like you need a second team to cheer on.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201109:57 pm UTC
I had to cheer for someone before 1992. Actually after 1993 I stopped caring about MTL. They beat LA that year to win the cup and I remember watching that game. I was also at the Civic Center the first game Ottawa played MTL and we won 6-4 I think. Funny how I now play in a travelers league on that ice. I'm pretty sure MTL let Ottawa win that game too..Neil Brady scored our first goal against patrick roy, just 40 seconds into the game.
Glad to see others are contributing to our bet but I think it's best we stick to the hated team logo sticker idea, I don't want to rob all you leafs fans of your money anyway!
So how does this work then? The team with the most points at the end of the season wins, and DEEP and whatever other leaf fans there are roaming this board have to rock a team logo sticker on the outside of their car? seeing as we're factoring in MTL too.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 18, 201110:20 pm UTC
I see the light, were coming out of the rebuild tunnel while you guys are just entering it. Leafs and Sens. The team with the most points wins the bet. We TML boys design your stickers, and dont worry about designing one for us because it just won't happen .
hahaha! I want my team's sticker be visible at least a couple car lenghts away. This way when you get pulled over, the cop will likely give you a harder time for being a reformed sens fan
hahaha! I want my team's sticker be visible at least a couple car lenghts away. This way when you get pulled over, the cop will likely give you a harder time for being a reformed sens fan
I wont have to worry about Toronto Police because that sticker wont be ever ordered or on my car but hey, I heard Ottawa Police are cracking down on speeders heading into Ottawa. For the first offence, they give you two Ottawa Senators tickets. If you are stopped a second time, they make you use them.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 20, 201112:44 am UTC
No worries Tyler! we SENS fans already out number those horrid Leafs fans. Keep on reppin!
Montreal should count. Keeps it interesting and most people from MTL hate the LEAFS as much, if not more than the sens so I welcome that..sure I'm not alone there. lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 20, 201101:35 am UTC
It seems most leafs fans are either stupid or don't follow hockey very well. The sens have not had a team between 1934-1992. They have also made the playoffs 12 out of the last 14 years also winning the east conference. How have the leafs done?
The Sens fans also laugh at the leafs fans for the money the spend on tickets. They would rather sell the leafs fans their tickets for those games so they can go to 3 other normal price games.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 20, 201101:50 am UTC
What I like about Sens fans is that they don't blindly cheer their team unlike most Leaf fans. They're like MTL fans in this way, if they play like drunken yuppies, they get booed. That's a true fan, you root for good plays and winning (They get paid in a year, what I'll make in 20+ years, so they better play well!) if they don't play well, and you still cheer, that's just pointless; you encourage crappy plays. My main reason for hating the Leafs stems in the fan base. That and I hated Domi or anything with "planned hits" instead of skill and technique with the stick.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 20, 201101:56 am UTC
The way i see it.....being a leaf fan is like dating a fat chick. Sure you friends make fun of you and you may be a little embarassed at time but you love her! You cant explain why...you just do
Preseason is suppose to be competitive, showing your coaches and that you want to play. I did not see one ottawa senator sacrifice his body to block a shot, not one senator besides Neil lay a decent hit, not one senator make a dive. All I seen was a goalie who purposly threw his net when he was paniced, a team getting man handled on the ice, a team that just looked scared. This team is in the early stages of rebuilding. Comparing them to anyone this year is really a joke. All the Ottawa fans sound like Toronto right now when we were rebuilding lmfao. We should make a new thread on mtl vs tml because ottawa is a fuckin joke.
As a leaf fan I admit one thing, this is the first year since pre - lockout we have real young talent that is competing hard. I can say everyone on the team has something to prove. We dont have any old washups like other teams in this leauge The oldest player on our team is 30. Since 09/10 season we only have 3 people from that year left on this roster. The Brian Burke era has changed this team around for the good. Obviously no sens or mtl fans will ever understand this but thats the best part. Watching thier faces when they get beat will be priceless.
When me and Tim do win this bet, we wont even give you guys a leafs flag to rock on your cars, you guys are going to get your own logo getting pissed on
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - September 20, 201102:40 am UTC
It's just a recording they play every year. It goes like this:
"This is our year, our new players are going to take us to the next level. Oh yeah we started off with a win, plan the parade. Oh 2 wins we can never loose. Oh a loss, pffft one loss is nothing, oh 2 losses are nothing we are still .500 ..... we only need to win the last 10 games to make the playoffs. What?!?!?!?! not in the playoffs again?!?!?!?"

I love haters You seem like you know everything about the leafs. I hope your not one of those bandwagoner types that runs back to us when we start winning. I HATE bandwagoners. one thing is garunteed we will beat sens in the standings, what is $20 Tyler, lets up the ante to atleast $50 so we can atleast get stickers made with your money at the end of the season.

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 09, 201101:02 am UTC
Lol this is garbage! Slanted ref's can't make a straight call. How to call high sticking when a player has his head at waist level and that hit on da costa was shoulder to head, hence his helmet came off.
This fail was inevitable. sad to say it but hey, there's still another period to go.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 09, 201102:07 am UTC
Now hes going to say sens would have won lmfao without that call ahaha. This game was a classic example of a young team who thought they won with a 5-1 lead. Im very happy that ottawa gunned back with some goals, because it will be a lesson well learned for our leafs. Hey same thing happened in Detorit yesterday lmfao. They were up 5-0 and started slaking off and ottawa scored 3. Anyways 2-0 against 2 sh!t teams talked about in this thread.
So Mike, Im guessing your going to act like a "leafs fan" and say your happy your team scored some goals late even though you didnt get the win. ahahah
edit: for those of you who missed it. This is what Mike is crying about
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 09, 201102:20 am UTC
Def not a head hit, watch the replay . All body, calls went both ways, forget about that full 5-3 powerplay you had aswell, alifie cleared kneed grabovsky too if you wanna talk about cheap hits....

Yeah clean hit all the way. Head hit at that impact would have ended that kids career. and Yeah that was bad on Grabo. There was alot of missed calls our way but what the hell thats Hockey!...

What was that quote by your buddy Tyler "The addition of a goalie that can actually stop a beach ball and the rookies that are out to prove something will make all the difference we need." lmfao I guess not. You both sound like "typical leafs fans" ahha.
Ottawa rookies are not meant for NHL, Ottawa allowed 30 goals in F*CKIN 5 games ahaha And trade Anderson for a bag of pucks. Fire Murray, Trade alfredsson, phillips, neil for young prospects or picks and build a real team.
Dustin: I think Komi has to go. He cost us the last game and just cant keep up. I think we have to keep Gardiner rolling and get Franson in. Thats what Wilson should be doing tomorrow after benching Komi all of the 3rd.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 20, 201102:23 pm UTC
Well preseason is over and Sens and now 1-5. Its not even fun to pick on you anymore. Its like bragging about beating up a 6 year old girl. But it does make me feel good to see Montreal in the bottom 5. I think they have the worst fans in hockey. Most obnoxious! They lost again….why don’t you go burn something : olee, olee, so gay, olee

DAMNNNNNNN Look at those Sens huh. Beat a Tired Winnepeg team 4-1. I think there on the run to the cup. What you think Mike. Closed doors player only meeting I think we need one of those after tonight. Good teams have to lose some nights and bad teams have to win some nights.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 21, 201102:35 pm UTC
reminds me of that infamous saying "can't win em all" LOL
you didn't just lose, 6-2 is a whoopin!!! Mtl will show you guys how to really lose even though they have pretty well the same record as the sens.
GO HABS GO!!! (this saturday only ofcourse - kind of like when people ask me who is my fav team, I always say I have two...the sens, and who ever is playing against toronto)
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 21, 201103:46 pm UTC
Blasted Bruins! Danny D and I were working on his car last night and I predicted 5-1 loss after watching the first period and Danny said nah, 6-2 Bruins! Brutal game but the Leafs looked tired and Boston really had something to prove! It's all good though, as long as we do well against MTL and Ottawa this season! I'm happy!!!! Cheers
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 21, 201105:08 pm UTC
no no it was a "6-2 is a whoopin!!!" lmfao. But yeah they were really tired last night. Will all the injuries the big guys were playing double shifts against the Jets on wednesday. and another game the day after is just a beating. But hey look at those SENS!!! 4-1 win eh. Mike is probably growing back some of the hair he pulled out in the earlier games.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 22, 201106:04 pm UTC
Ahhhhh I like the confidence after your last win. Mike has been riding the wave ehh. Sounds like the cup is coming to Ottawa. Ofcourse we will win. Even if it comes down to losing we all know who has the better record around here

olee, olee.....olee, olF*CK YOU. ahaha
GRABOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVSSKIII!!! what a game. Cant even describe my hate for montreal, its much more than Ottawa for sure. I feel sorry for Ottawa sometimes because they take such a beating but MTL NEVER.
Grabovski = Habs Killer Kessel = Sens Killer
It will be a long season for you two. Cheer up. Go Leafs Go.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 23, 201105:32 pm UTC
+12 for both of you. hockey sucks.. Play some lacrosse way better and funny enough non of the hockey guys in my school ever made the team? Must be that we only wore shoulder pads helmets and gloves, and the sport is a little more aggressive.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 23, 201105:38 pm UTC
WDF you talking about lmfao. Lacrosse is a different sport than hockey, just because the concept looks the same doesn't mean the hockey guys should have made the team. Ive played lacrosse before and its a totally different sport.
Let me put it this way, why didn't any of the lacrosse guys make the hockey team huh
Hockey is way more aggressive than Lacrosse and a million times more fun. But please don't turn this into a lacrosse vs hockey thread because I don't think anyone gives two shits about lacrosse.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 23, 201105:39 pm UTC
lacross is good for those who can't skate. Imo, hockey is the only sport that requires more physical abilities and skill, other than running, hand eye cordination or how to handle a ball and in most sports, other than baseball (which takes hardly any skill) the ball is easy to handle because they're bigger (ie. Basketball, football, soccer)..
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 23, 201107:34 pm UTC
Originally Posted by Mike Eng

Clearly something the Ottawa Senators can't do. Maybe the team should enter a Lacrosse league ?
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 23, 201107:49 pm UTC
Hockey is not nearly as aggressive as a sport that encourages slashing/crosschecking. When you fight you have to take your helmets off yourself before the fight starts.
And if you're telling me that hockey takes more hand eye coordination than lacrosse you have obviously never played an actual game of lacrosse. Trying to catch a ball not much larger than the pocket while running is much harder because unlike hockey you can't just tip the pass forward and chase it. You also can't coast on your skates from center into the attack zone as a lot of hockey players do.
The main reason most people go into playing hockey at high levels is that to play pro lacrosse you get paid almost nothing.
I won't post any more on lacrosse in this thread as this thread is about hockey, i just wanted to share my opinion on something as i have played both a fair bit. Not trying to take anything away from hockey as i usually will watch hockey over lacrosse but definitely would play lacrosse over hockey.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 23, 201111:06 pm UTC
I just started playing hockey for the first time in 14 years. You never forget how to skate, but boy do I suck and I am out of shape. I should have stuck to watching it but its my motivation to get into shape.
Mike and Tyler you guys should not have the same avatar.

Lol oh mike, typical sense fan response, we lost, we played like garbage, I can accept that, but the better team won? Lol your too funny, wait till you guys start to slide again, you'll be able to hear everyone jumping off the bandwagon again.
I can't stand listening to those ottawa announcers though, they spend more time talking about their life experiences than about the game they are supposed to be doing a play by play on.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - November 04, 201102:48 am UTC
I love haters. Dustin, just wondering, Have you ever in Ottawa come across a Sens fan with the littlest knowledge of the game ? Its just so hard to believe they exist.

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - November 13, 201102:55 am UTC
Bahahaha 2 - 1 in the series and thanks for helping us out by scoring on your own net
Losing streak is over, aswell as it should be, considering we OWN YOU GUYS!!! And don't even say you guys played like sh!t, you out shot us and I'm pretty sure beat us in time on attack.
I've said it before, and proudly say it again, at the end of the game, the better team won! And we will continue to put you in your place.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - November 13, 201104:53 am UTC
Whatever makes you happy Mike. I hope you guys beat us 3-1 in the "series" as long as were always on top I'm happy hehehe. The thing is most teams when they have Ottawa on their schedule they just take the pedal of the gas a bit. Its like racing a Honda you know its sh!t, even if it wins its still sh!t.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 04, 201211:08 pm UTC
Big one tonight. A meeting between the two were points matter for both teams more then ever! We are exactly were I anticipated at the start of the season. Go Leafs Go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: Finally we have a healthy team Since the All Star Break!!! 180 Man games lost. 5th most in the NHL from teams in playoff picture and were still Holding the Fort
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 05, 201206:11 am UTC
Results: 5 Toronto, 0 Ottawa
What can I say. Game is in Ottawa and 85% of the fans were Toronto's! The Sens Captain Alfie was getting booed every time he touched the puck in his own building. That should tell you a lot about Ottawa and its fan support. Thanks for the shutout. Good luck Mike trying to stay in the Top Eight.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 01, 201202:25 pm UTC
Are you implying that i'm not a true fan? I'm pretty sure i've watched at least 50 of the games this year.
And to answer your question, no, i decided to post after your team lost and dropped to 3-12 in the last 15 games. You also have a pretty tough schedule coming up with the exception of Montreal and Carolina.
Back to back against the Bruins and Pittsburgh. Washington-Philly. Bruins-Islanders. Devils-Rangers.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 10, 201205:24 am UTC
That's pretty funny if you think that's me. And also pretty funny cause i don't know how many times i've met a leafs "fan" that couldn't tell me 3 players on the team.

last week I watched the sens practice right before my ice time, couldnt beleive how many fans couldnt even spot out alfie, even I was embarrased about it.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 16, 201212:42 pm UTC
well i am man enough to say you won fair and square. The Leafs totally sh!t the bed! They also announced that ticket prices are going up AGAIN next year. Are you fawkin kidding me?? Raising prices for a team that has not made the play offs in almost a decade! Please NHL.....bring me a Hamilton team. I will burn my jersey publicly the way you have burned me for the last 30+ years.
I had to watch the game online last night cause our all mighty leafs force you to pay for that crap on LeafsTV. It was actually interesting watching the game on a Tampa channel. Did you know that in Tampa you can rent out the Exec boxes for you and your friends and it would cost less then 2 Platinium seats to the ACC. Also you can get regular purple tix there for $8 and 3rd row center ice is only $86. I went to a few games this year and paid well over $220 a seat. I make fairly decent money and i still cant afford to take my family to a game. Not to mention the $12 beers
Fawk you MLS! I am tired of your pathetic premier priced tix for a 3rd class team. How many all stars are on Tampa? What about the Leafs?? We have maybe 1 guy other teams would want. This is where players come to retire! The best thing we did was fire Wilson, just unfortunately a year too late.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 16, 201212:44 pm UTC

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 16, 201205:12 pm UTC
i know the feeling Well at least your IN ottawa so i will forgive ya. We have a few Sens fans here and it just makes no sense. Why follow a team that has been even less successful as your local one. Habs i get, they have had some great teams over the years. Its just too bad most of their fans are DB's
I wouldnt hate you guys so much if it wasnt for the fact that Crusty the clown (Alfredsson) and Neil are douche bags. I would gladly take Spezza or Karlsson on my team.

crusty...lol first i've heard of that. Chris Neil is my sister's neighbour, he's actually a REALLY nice guy, just not on the ice. Bare in mind their paid to play, or fight, not be nice to maple leafs or leafs fans for that matter
And if we can beat mtl tonight, we're 3 points behind 6th place (new jersey) and there's still 10 games to go, if we move up one spot we can play florida who clinched their division and have the 3rd spot in the conference, even though they have less pts than us. I'd feel more confident in making it past the first round against FLA.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 16, 201208:46 pm UTC
Wilson had to go period. The whole year defense has played loosey goosey, And I mean the WHOLE year. Now Carlyle is introducing a bit of the 1-3-1. The same system the Sens have been using the whole year. I hope next year we can get rid of some big contracts such as lombo, komi, and Tim. and get guys like kadri, colborne, ashton full playing time. The farm looks good as ever, The future is bright and that no BS, something I personally could have never said before LOL.
All hating aside, Alfie is actually a good vetran leader. Something we have lacked this whole year. A win tonight and you guys get ahead of boston .
A team in Hamilton ? F*ck that. I know I could never cheer for them. Ever.

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 16, 201210:32 pm UTC
Yeah Im not going to Rant or anything LOL. I know were My team is headed, ive seen them play, ive seen them play in the "slump", I know what thier capable of, and this season would have been salvaged if Wilson was gone earlier. We did not have a good leader or coach to steer the youngest hockey team into the right direction during the Trade Deadline. You had to see this city, it was just FKD. I use to get updates on my phone every like 4 hours, new trade rumor and this was like 3 weeks before the deadline. Anyways DRAFT LOTTERYY!!!. Really hopeing for a good pick now. The sticker will come you don't worry

Kessel a Star ? . Typical Toronto fans thinks Kessel is a F*kin star. I would not even trade Tyler Seguin for kessel st8 up. Kessel started to play with some grit last season and beginning of this season, but as the checking got tougher this season the grit went away and he became a little pussy. Don't get me wrong I like Kessel,he is the only player in the last 4 years to have consecutive 30 goal seasons but I just hate how people think he’s like a centre stone to our franchise. He’s a key player but certainly not a centre stone. I hope Carlyle can develop him into a star and get him going into the dirty areas for the puck. If you think Kessel is a star, then how do you look past Lupul and Grabo ? and you don’t mention the younger talent we have such as Gardiner, Colborne, Kadri, Frattin,Ashton. Let’s not forget how bad Kadri was treated by Wilson.

I just read this thread from the beginning. It was funny then knowing how it was going to go for you guys. It's a bit sad now because you can't even make fun of our team just some of the fans.
Who is ordering the stickers? You guys are supposed to order your own right? As a "Band-wagoner" i'll also take one. I could just wear one of my jerseys or just lounge around in my T.V. room with my sens gear. But when i'm driving i'd also like to show my support.

Its funny how things turn out. Its ok though. This thread will never die, Due to passionate, hardcore, Fans such as Tyler who decide to post when their team wins some games and wears his sens jersey and sens gear in his T.V room lmfao. Anyways dsm is close to coming home and I will snap some pics with that teams sticker... what are they called again.... ummm.... .....Shennators...No wait.......No thats not it.... Oh Yeah Senators right ? Wait is that even a team....
I got a better Idea, Double Or Nothing Last battle of Ontario this season is Saturday Night. Hockey Night In Canada. Forget sticker, winner has to have flag on for a week. Lets see how confident you are in your Team Mike.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 17, 201202:48 pm UTC
OHHHHH I LIKE IT!!!!!
OK IM GAME!!!!!! ONE WHOLE WEEK OF A FLAG! LOL woah caps
Tonight is the big night!! just think, if you buy a sens flag now, you can hang onto it and rock it every year around this time...as per our little bet lol just tryin to save you a few bucks to help get you a dsm on the road
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 17, 201208:38 pm UTC
Kessel is top 5 in the league for scoring and has 3 consecutive 30 goal seasons. What more does he need to do?? Forget what we gave up for him. Thats long done and over. How many times did you see Gretzky lay people out? I dont care if he dont hit. That not what we got him for. Now if we had a hard nosed Center to play with him how awesome would he look? Now dont get me wrong i LOVE lupul. He is my fav leaf but he is on one good year. If he can repeat it again next year i will feel better. Grabo is good but he is no star either. He is a great 2nd line center but too small for my liking. We need more size up front.

4 consecutive 30 goal season . But what more does he need to do ? Really ? He is far from a complete player, He needs to play something called DEFENSE. Everyone knows this. He has cost us games and goals because of his lack of defense.
Now Ottawoohhaaaaha. LOL. Good game Mike. But we Win . And I win the bet so When is that leafs flag going on your car ???
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 18, 201209:30 pm UTC
Ohhhh man, I'm really kickin myself for making that bet yesterday. What shitty game! It was boring as efff..thank god the beer was flowing well, otherwise I prob would have threw my controller through my flat screen lol
I don't even know where to find leafs sh!t but next time I'm grabbin tape at sportchek, I'll have a look for your precious flag..wonder how many hits i would get if I posted a video on youtube of a flaming leafs flag on a dsm loool

You kidding ? Im sure Ottawa has more leafs flags then Sens AHAHA. Your Team and Alfie was getting BOOD in your own building. How f*cked is that. Even though the ACC is full of suits, you would never see another team come to OUR building and frack with OUR team. Only if your Ottawa does something like that happen.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 19, 201201:26 pm UTC
wow....the Leafs may suck but at least we are better then Ottawa. lol.
See i fawkin hate Neil! Did he fight Rosehill?? Nope. Phaneuf? Nope. Schenn? No the little pu$$y picks a fight with our smallest player Grabovski. He ducked the rest of the guys all night. He has about as much class as Avery. What a DB! After he did that Rosehill should have pounded Crusty Alfredson. We lost our best player and you lost garbage. I hate that guy.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - January 15, 201310:04 pm UTC
Back from the dead! Only 16 pages back
NHL is back on! YIPPIE!!! And it looks like with this half season, Ottawa and Toronto play each other 5 times. We're all tied at 1st probably the best mid-season record Toronto has ever had!
My hockey team and I have a full row to next monday's home opener. And i'm fracking STOKED!! GO SENS GO!!!!!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 02, 201308:15 pm UTC
Battling for the last two playoff spots. Our young guns are finally being given a chance to play. Kadri is showing why he was 7th overall. I just hate the Burke firing, Stupid bell/rogers ownership, But time to move on.
What do you expect from your senatorss ? Especially after the Spezza Situation. But I seen Anderson has been nothing but Solid aha.
And what about them habs, Im suprised really. There leading 2-0 right now. But its way to early to judge any team.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 02, 201308:25 pm UTC
Yeah it's strange we ACTUALLY have a goalie this year!
I expect us to finish somewhere between 8th and 14th place, leave those last two spots for you guys if your team can pull it together that is.
Spezza went under the knife yesterday, I havn't heard anything since. I have a feeling this injury will re occur. This is the beginning of the end for him unfortunately.
I'm also hearing rumours that Alfie will stick around another full season but in all honesty, after we win the cup this year, I want him to hang up skates for good and go out in style
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 02, 201309:08 pm UTC
frack that looked painful. I'd trade that injury over a spinal injury any day though. Too bad, I actually like Lupul. When we had the all-star game up here in Ottawa, he had a microphone on him during the game. Fuckin funny guy lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 10, 201305:11 pm UTC
WoooOoo What a game last night. Haven't seen us play like this physically since the Domi,Tucker days. Randy Carlyle has something going for sure. The habs are a bunch of clowns that cry about everything, Especially Pacioretty.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 16, 201303:31 pm UTC
Amazes me that the Blackhawks havn't lost a game in regulation. They're stacked. And we (the Sens) are FUCKED!!! But enough about Chicago, somehow the Leafs have pulled ahead of us and tonight we face off in the ACC.
Karlsson and Spezza out, not sure what's going to happen. But I can tell you this. Neil will knock someones teeth out. Anderson will steal the show. And we may bang in a few G's and win this tonight, pulling ahead of the Leafs by 2 points
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 17, 201305:44 pm UTC
We win 3-0 But flat game from both teams. Did not expect such a dead game. Hopefully the rematch Saturday is alot more interesting! What about them habs ? Can't belive theve been winning. I had them bottom 5 in the Conference but its still early. I know weve set the tone with Montreal, and the rivalry has really picked up again.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 19, 201304:19 am UTC
No sh!t sherlock
Maclean is a good coach. He will push his team hard. Wint tonight against devils was pretty suprising. I still cant believe the habs keep putting up wins. There playing well.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 19, 201304:50 am UTC
As much as I hate the habs, If we both can make the post season it will be something else. Meeting in the post season is just a dream, not just for leafs/habs fans but any real NHL fan. The battle of Ontario has nothing on that.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 19, 201304:50 am UTC
^
Habs have always been known to have a good goalie. The players just need to score goals and they're golden. The thing is, they don't always do Still on their side though. Can't put a price on Price lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 24, 201304:01 pm UTC
Calm down,Calm down You won 3-2 with a goal in the last 20 seconds.
You should be ashamed of yourself. How do you let another team come into YOUR building and Boo YOUR Captain.
Kadri a pussy ? ahahaha....Remember which team was dying to draft him ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzgalcl3tD8 I think your mad because he was dancing around your team ahaha, Hes going to be a top forward in this leauge no doubt.
FYI We had probably the same amount of marlies on the roster. Not that it matters.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 24, 201305:19 pm UTC
I'm talking more about the fact that he didn't want to take his gloves off to fight smith like a man. Just punched him repeatedly in the face with his glove on while smith laughed in his face and taunted him.
It's not the Sens fault that your tickets are so overpriced that it's cheaper to drive 6 hours and pay for gas/hotel than get tickets in your rink.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 24, 201307:30 pm UTC
This is what happens when band wagoners don't understand hockey....
I don't see Smith getting punched in the face ? I don't see Smith challenging him to a fight, gloves were not off, stick in the air, hes just trying to get in Kadri's head.
Kadri, who finally gets his chance to be up in the NHL and is proving he can play in the League. Leads the leafs with 15 points which is more points than any player on your team. He was DANCING around your players, making them look like fools on the ice.
Kadri is not a fighter, sure we got guys like Smith on our team to fight. But let me tell you, none of our enforcers would go after Alfredsson or Karlson challenging them to fight. Were much better than that.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 25, 201305:09 am UTC
Lol Mike...
You must have got up to get a beer or been drunk if you didn't notice the moves Kadri pulled to get around some of Ottawa's D. Sure, he got hip checked... but the hit seemed a little late IMO, and I don't think he expected it.
You guys scored with 23 seconds or something left, not something to really brag about. If Ottawa is such a better team than the leafs, how do you explain the 3-0 shutout loss last week? How is your "star" player Alfredson not leading the team in points? KADRI HAS MORE, for his 1st year in the NHL!
I also loved the fact that Ottawa tried to ban leaf fans from the building, yet more than half of the crowd was wearing blue and chanting GO LEAFS GO.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 25, 201305:23 am UTC
We're no longer friends Mike JK!
I was definitely getting hammered last night, so maybe I missed your precious rookie hog the puck and sneak past a couple of our defencemen.
We're on a 4 game winning streak. We ended yours. And now, we're sitting 4th overall in the Eastern Conference. You're now trailing 2 spots behind us, and best get used to it.
As for there being more leafs fans then sens fans in the bank, I could care less. If the leafs fans want to put their money into the pocket of our club, I'm cool with that. Nothing more annoying than being at those games and listening to those whinny chants..But I loved watching all the blue and white run for the exits with 30 seconds left in the game. Sweet victory!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 25, 201305:25 am UTC
Woooo Another leafs fan ? Dont forget thier captain Alfie getting bood ahaha. Whats up with all this call ups BS ? Our players are out do you see us blaming the loss on that ? We expect our call ups to perform.
About the hip check, I think ottawa dman was trying to duck or something. Have to look at it again.

I wish I could have watched you guys run out to the exit last week when we shut you guys 3-0. But as lame as your franchise and fanbase is it can never happen. You guys had mabey 2? 3? Fans here at the ACC.

I wouldn't get ahead of yourself Mike. You're ONLY 2 points up and there are still plenty of games left for the teams to swap places in the standings. The series is tied 1-1, and going by the way the 2 games went... any betting man would put their money on the leafs for the next game in March.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 25, 201306:07 pm UTC
Oh and Mike, Alfie is king around these parts. Who in the Leafs club has shown the same type of dedication to playing for only one team (not a paycheque player) and he's a playmaker. Not a points horder. We're talking 20 years for one team. Can't think of anyone playing for the leafs now who can compare, skill, experience and pure love for the game.

I couldnt care less if we go to shootout to win, as long as we get the win. As much as I don't like mtl and sens, As long as were still in the race I would love to see all three of the teams in the post season. Its only when were not in the race I wouldn't want you guys making playoffs
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 27, 201311:55 pm UTC
Actually I'd love to see a showdown between both goalies in a SO. Always liked shootouts, it's a place where both a goalie and player can truly show what he's made of.

I totally disagree with this. You have some of the best goalies in the game that cant stop a beach ball in shootout. Its entertaining when its not your team in it.

Being a goalie myself, I really don't see how that can be possible. It's a breakaway in its most basic way. You get breakaways in the game, if you can't handle them, you're not fit to be a goalie, it's part of the game: i.e. stop the puck in ANY instance. Besides, I personally love robbing a guy in SO, I kill in SO
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 28, 201312:24 am UTC
Look at guys like jussi jokinen who is one of the best players in the shootout, and guys like Ovechkin that cant get much going in the shootout. I think wins and shootouts are misleading. GAA and save% is how a goalie's performance should be measured.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 28, 201302:39 pm UTC
They came out flying and we were just flat. I thought 3rd period settled down a bit but that third goal was just bad. We got screwed by the referee on the faceoff. Bad game for us, time to move on.

A shootout is nothing like a breakaway. In the shootout you see the guys start slow, speed up, spin around, fake shots. A real breakaway you are skating full throttle unless the other team REALLY messed up. You also don't have full concentration on the puck/your shot because you have to keep looking up to see where the defending players are.

Series stands:
Tor:2 Mtl:1
Tor:1 Sens:1
I only saw the second half of the first and the second period. The leafs couldn't make many stick to stick passes. Most of the chances they got were over neutral zone turnovers or their breakout passes that MTL couldn't fully intercept. MTL had similar problems until they started skating around the leafs with the puck and did that stupid chip off the boards at the blue line and chase it to the hash marks.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 28, 201307:58 pm UTC
Girlfriends cousin is on the farm team, wanted some unbiased opinion on him (DeFazio). I know very little about hockey, so I have learned everything from them and now just understand basic rules and such. Never watch hockey unless I am at a game.

If you want to be THAT technical (which I still don't agree with, because breakaways have shown some nice, "I'm taking my sweet time" moves) Penalty shots are IN GAME, and are exactly like shootouts. The point is, if you're a goalie, your goal is to stop the puck no matter what. Saying a certain way doesn't show his true competence is nonsense. That's his job. That's like saying a hockey player can skate incredibly well in game, but sucks when he's with his girlfriend at the park rink and that's ok. It's a talent, reflexes and practice. You do what you're payed to do, period, as long as it's on the ice. If you can't, practice more
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 01, 201302:08 am UTC
Another goalie here.
SO/PS and breakaways are 2 very different animals. When a player gets a breakaway and he knows he has heat on his ass he starts making moves based on instinct and experience, he's not going through the same mental process that he will be in a SO, it ends up making a big difference in the moves made.
I personally find breakaways far easier to stop, it's easier for me to guess what a players move is when his brain doesn't have time to think about it.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 01, 201305:40 am UTC
In my 3 on 3 league, we do a shoot out at the end of every game. 6 shooters and it's for 1 point. The rink is about 1/3 the size of your average pad and has full boards and glass all the way around. In fact, all the same rules apply with the exception of penalties served are by penalty shot. The referees stand on the outside of the glass and call the game.
OFTEN there are breakaways and it's DEFINITELY better as a player to take your time in a PS because you can read the goalie better.
If you guys ever have a chance to join a 3 on 3 league, do it!

I'm actually going that route for fun/practice in a couple months to get back into it. Still have to let my MCL heal a bit more to be back to normal before I go back to stretching for saves though (tore them a little 4months ago)

Coolio, well I never said they were the same I said they all serve to evaluate the goalie equally as they are similar, same for the players.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 06, 201302:31 am UTC
LOL. We have 14 regulation wins and you guys have 9 :|. Your on a 3 game losing streak, and were on 2 game winning streak. We got Lupul and Frattin coming back, good luck staying ahead of us in the standings!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 06, 201302:08 pm UTC
Not a hockey fan, but impressed with the Canadian teams they all seem to be doing well. Ottawa hasnt figured out that they should be losing (or no one told them with half their team missing they should be) Toronto is doing well and I think the shorter season might be adventagous to them as their choking time will be long after the seasons over. Montreal is playing well as well! Here is hoping as a non fan that a Canadian team will raise the cup this year
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 06, 201302:40 pm UTC
That skate would be a perfect fit for fancy pants Kadri.
I like the pic Mike! Creative criticism is always welcomed here.
Although, I will point out that one of your best all time players is a Sweed like Alfie, and they're buds. Another reason the whole "stick throwing" was a joke, and damn good one if you ask me!

Just realised this thread has hit 10,000 views and almost 300 replies. I have feeling this will never die...like those god awful leafs. We don't need 2 teams in this province..you guys should move out to somewhere a little more suited for finesse cry baby hockey..like in Europe somewhere.

Also i think the joke to that is that Toronto will finally get an NHL team. At least that's what i get from fans of other teams using that "Ontario will have 2 NHL teams" saying.

I think you mean Leafs "fans" forget about Ottawa. They also forget most of the teams in the league except "The one that crosby plays for" or "The detroit team".
LOL you got to be kidding me. We know more about hockey than bandwagon Senator fans that’s for sure. The last failure of almost a decade has shown you why we have one of the best fan bases in the league. We have supported through the worst times and things are finally looking good.

Believe it or not, your Defenceman Mark Fraser is from Blackburn Hamlet, my home town. He's only a couple years younger than me and we played together back when we were kids. He grew to 6ft at the age of 12 or some sh!t lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 07, 201302:43 am UTC
Yeah Zibanejad is only 20 yrs old and our first line center man.
Too young for that kind of spot light, but a good player no doubt.
I see Mark from time to time in around the Ottawa area. His parents still live in the burb where I grew up. Still a chill guy considering the money he's making lol

ahaha, how does it feel Mike. Senators suck. That is how the battle of Ontario should be, high scoring, lots of hitting and a fast game.
Why do you have to keep crying about having some farm players up ? Were do you think future players come from ? We got 6 players who played in the Marlies(farm) last year.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 07, 201304:23 am UTC
I'm no newb, I know who the Marlie's are lol
That game was slanted. Leafs politicians greased the refs before the game and "missed" all kinds of calls.
You guys still won't make playoffs.
We will inevitably squeeze ourselves in, and by then, we'll have most of our team back, giving us a MUCH better chance than the leafs at making it to the finals AGAIN.
Our first line centerman is 20 years old. ^^^ You're proud you beat us?

F*ck Yeah. When guys get injured, you should have guys to step you into the lineup. If you dont have guys to step up, its pretty obvious you guys have a garbage team but this just shows you have no depth in the farm.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 07, 201304:57 am UTC
Can we take a moment to stop and look at Chicago with their 21-0-3. Like...... What is the serious FRACK?! I watched the highlights of tonight's game and every time they're pushing offensively, they play so fluidly. It's pretty damn awesome to see a team dynamic so flawless.

They have a good coaching staff that pushes them. When young guys get the opportunity to play they play with heart. It’s their jobs on the line. If Tor,MTL and OTT can squeeze into the top 8 it would be something else.
But with 1 win in their last 9 road games and a current 4 game losing streak, doesn’t look like Sens can be in the top 8. I’m sure Murray Is working the phones for a trade.
And MTL, just going to have to wait and see what happens with them.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 13, 201304:58 pm UTC
Corel Center is now Scotiabank Place. I want to say it's been "the bank" for at least five years now
Those "cheap as sin" tickets were prior to the team making it to the cup finals, now everything is $40 nose bleeds, up to $300 for 100 level. It's awful having to pay those prices because concession also went up. A tall can beer is $9 domestic, which is really $10 after tip.
And yeah, Ottawa is a good place to be for Canada Day. The entire downtown core is shut down for the day. Lots of festivities and events/shows.
The fireworks are typically the "best" part of the night. Parliament Hill see's the most action throughout the day. So Wellington St., Sussex and Rideau and Elgin are the busiest streets to visit if you want to see a sea of people wearing red and white.
Elgin St. Is "The Sens Mile". When we're in playoffs, it's a madhouse.

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 01, 201305:10 pm UTC
Wow that was embarrassing.
However, have you had a look at the standings?
I would hate for us to play Boston in the playoffs this year. We just can't beat them. So best let you guys feel the wrath of Chara.
Although it has been what? 6 years since we played against each other? I'm not worried about slaughtering you guys then.
Even your #1 leafs fan don cherry said ottawa has the 3 best goalies in the world. And if you know anything about playoff hockey, goaltending is the most important aspect of the game.
So...see you next season when we don't have our entire team in the hurt locker..
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 01, 201306:16 pm UTC
Having our guys hurt shouldn't be an excuse for that game. No one wanted to play. Weak passes. No fighting along the boards. No battles in front of the net or screens. It was just a terrible effort.
If they got out played i would be ok with it but they didn't even play. They stood around for 60 minutes.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 03, 201304:49 pm UTC
Although we lost our match up. We're still 2nd best in the LEAGUE for home games won.
You guys are FINALLY ahead of us in the standings although tied in points.
Still think we have a better club than you fools. If you guys lost Kadri, like we lost Spezza, you wouldn't be "ahead" of us right now.
And I'm only using Spezza as an example. IN NO WAY SHOULD YOU CONFUSE THEIR TALENTS AS EQUAL. I'd compare Kadri to Peter Regin in his prime. And that's about it.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 03, 201307:11 pm UTC
Hey man did you hear the latest?
We traded Bishop to the Lighting for Conachar who is ranked 2nd overall nhl rookie's at 25 pts. He's now our lead scorer lol...And we picked up a 4th round pick as well.
This is a GOOD DEAL for us. We don't need 3 of the best goalies IN THE WORLD
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 03, 201308:00 pm UTC
Yeah I meant your road record of 6-8-3. And your next 5 games are on the road
I've said it before, as much as I hate the SENS I would still want them to be in the top 8 as long as were in it ofcourse It makes hockey that much more exciting in postseason.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 08, 201312:39 am UTC
WHATS GOING ON MIKE!
That's 4 losses in a row for your Sens, Florida, the worst team in the league just beat you... You guys have the worst road record in the league and Guess what...your next 3 on the road .
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 21, 201303:24 am UTC
Wow...the Leafs actually make the playoffs. We live in uncertain times these days. Snow in April. Montreal in first place in the division...and the Leafs in a Stanley Cup.
Bitter sweet to say the least...a potential Bruins and Leafs clash in the first round! Will Toronto's Best find the testicular fortitude to overcome the fan favourites from Boston?
Will Ottawa decide to throw a few games to avoid a potential sweepity sweep by the resurgent Montreal Canadiens?
I can't guarantee who'll play who folks, but I can tell you there's going to be lots of goals...as well as tonnes of excitement.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 23, 201303:20 pm UTC
At this point, it's all strategy. But one thing I can tell you for sure. Deep, you have a better chance meeting Santa Claus before seeing your team win a cup
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 23, 201305:37 pm UTC
AHAHAHA Such a Hater.
At this point making the playoffs is huge in TO and has shut up all leaf haters that said we were going to finish last, guys like Mike now say " but you wont win a cup"
patience. Were only going to get better.
2nd youngest team in the league. We have beat EVERY team in the East this Season. No one said were going to win the cup, But I'm sure were going to make some noise. We have a lot better chances than your Sens that's for sure ahaha. In the last 5 years you guys have either not made playoffs or lost in first round, and again are fighting for your lives to sneak in and get thrown back out in the first round

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 23, 201306:26 pm UTC
Deep, all I want is for Price to get a chance to have the Cup. I'm more a follower of goalies, and always liked MTL goalies. He's great (except that one game with 3 goals in the span of no minutes :p) so want him to win. I was always more for a team because the guys WANTED to be there, bot because the contracts they got gave them better money somewhere. Also one of the reasons I like Brodeur, sticks to the team because he likes it. All that free-agent business is gimmicks ant to me means a player isn't worth his salt in loyalty. Give me a team that has players that fight for their team and not their contracts, and you'll have me cheering for them. Just not the Leafs

Actually that game was last Saturday against the leafs. 5 shots and 4 goals but he had a week off. So clearly that didn't help him.
And as for your reference to "pay cheque players" yes..there's more of them in the league than players who play the sport for what it is..a game.
We call them "suitcase's"..like Marian Hossa..he's a suitcase because he had a price tag on him even after all the mentoring Jacques Martin gave him within the Sens organiztion. I'd like to say the same about Mike Fisher but come on..I think his wife is priceless and I would have done the same.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 23, 201306:40 pm UTC
The Leafs have an honest shot at going Deep (LOL) into the playoffs. Philly isn't in contention this year, and they've been the bane of the Leafs during playoffs. I see Boston and Pittsburgh as potential problems.
Leafs and Montreal want to avoid each other. Whoever wins that tuffle would be exhausted. It would be the best series to watch, but a cake walk for whoever met them in the next round. This is a wet dream for Stanley Cup Finals fans...not at this early stage.
Montreal will most likely only have to worry about Pittsburgh or the Leafs. Hard to say how they'll translate into the first round with all those rookies. Will they become "wendal clarkes" (who I feel was one of the greatest Playoff team players), or crash under the pressure? And what of their goalie? Will the Price be Right when it counts?
The Sens are in a bad place. They have their best chance against the Capitals. But can they pull it together??? On paper they have a robust playoff team. But scissors beats paper, and which team has the sharp edges to take out the boys in red, black and white?
Poor Jets. Even if they afterburn their way into the post season, they simply won't have the fuel left for anything substantial. Cake walk for their opponents. Prediction: Jerseys will revert back to the famed "Bobby Clarke edition" next year.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 23, 201306:43 pm UTC
Yeah Price is good goalie. Top 5 In the league for sure. But I don't think he will win a cup with MTL anytime soon. The team is not there yet. And Mike honestly, no one wants to play for Senators. Simple as that, Just look at Hossa, Heatly, Chara and so on.
Steve you hit the nail on the head. Even Bruins are not the same old Bruins anymore. I don't mind facing either MTL or BOS. But I do think we can make a lot of noise this year in the playoffs.

Well, That sure wraps up your hockey knowledge
The Leafs have NEVER lost to the Senators in the playoffs.
My apologies if I don't recall everything from my single digit years correctly...I'm sure you don't remember every little detail from your childhood either. The point is, they lost. And will probably continue to do so
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 28, 201303:29 pm UTC
I hate these lopsided games between MTL and Tor. But I'm sure playoffs it will be different. that's if we meet.
So Today's game Ottawa against Boston decides everything. I don't mind facing Boston in the first round but MTL would be a dream matchup. Ottawa NEEDS TO LOSE today.
3. Things can happen,
1.Ottawa wins Reg or OT and faces MTL 2.Ottawa loses in OT and faces Boston 3.Ottawa Loses in Regulation and faces Pens.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 28, 201303:38 pm UTC
I don't know... Ottawa vs Montreal sounds tempting too; would have a lot of my favorite french swearing going in both in the stands and player's bench....Tabarnak!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 28, 201303:55 pm UTC
Well they average that playing at home. As you know, all teams step it up in the playoffs. That's when the rivalries between teams really shows. Either way, I'll be watching all MTL's games
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 29, 201304:46 pm UTC
So...the Battle of Ontario hits a new high. How do we decide who wins?
First to be knocked out? If there's a tie, it goes to a goal differential? Or does it ever end? LOL
My prediction: Pittsburgh in 5 Montreal in 5 Washington in 6 Boston in 6
Ottawa has a good playoff group...but if Price steps it up (i.e. finds his playoff groove) Montreal is going all the way to meet Pittsburgh. Montreal has a good mix of rookie and playoff vets. Then again...will the Adams Division curse come to haunt the Habs?
It's unfortunate that Toronto meets a team that has their number. Playoffs are different...and Boston may have a blown tire. But I just can't see the Leafs in the post season. Experience isn't there as a team to this next level. They need someone like Wendal Clarke, a playoff leader that galvanizes the team to new heights.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 29, 201307:02 pm UTC
I'm predicting
Pittsburgh in 4 Montreal in 7 Washington in 6 Leafs in 7
I agree with you Steve, the experience isn't there for the Leafs, however they do have talent. They need Kadri to play like how he did during the first part of the season and GET MORE SHOTS to defeat a team Boston.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 29, 201307:40 pm UTC
Lets be honest here.... Does the game play really change since it's the playoffs? You still need to play like a team and play to win. So, playoff experience or not, if you have the goal in sight, and you're willing to push for it, then you just might have a shot. I know Toronto hasn't been here in FOREVER, but they've really pulled it together this year. Time will tell. As far as I'm concerned, after last year's playoff season, all bets are off!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - April 30, 201312:54 pm UTC
When I lived in Ottawa, and attended the games, it was really annoying when Toronto or Montreal came into town.
Remember that these teams have had a century to create rabid fans. Montreal perhaps more so with all their teams (AAA's, Maroons etc). The Leafs inherited the Saint Patrick's fans.
Ottawa, on the other hand...I doubt any fans are left from the days when they folded. It's rebuilding that fan base, which at times was very blaise about the franchise.
So yeah...it makes sense that there are more Toronto and Montreal fans when they come to visit. But then again...after Bill 101, are there more Montreal fans in Toronto? LOL
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 03, 201303:24 pm UTC
I was watching the Sens VS. Habs last night and well, I can't find it in me to watch the leafs play boston, I prefer to watch ACTUAL HOCKEY.
Anyway...that hit on Lars Ellar was clean. The ref's should not have gave Gryba a 5 minute major and game ejection. It cost us a goal for what? a clean hit from a suicide pass?
The league is still reviewing it and will know today whether or not Gryba serves a game suspension.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 03, 201304:55 pm UTC
It's funny that Montreal is the first to complain about hits or calls when they have PK jumping all over the ice trying to hurt guys or having their guys run/bump/high stick the opposition goalies.
I'm glad they got a call for diving as it shows what i have seen many times this year. They are small and i'm sure this would not have happened had PK not jumped at Neal and another guy and missed.
It's very silly that basically every hockey analyst has said it was a good clean hit and not suspend-able yet most of the Montreal fans are crying for a suspension.
I also watched the last 2 periods of the Leafs-Boston game and they need to learn how to properly change. Dumping the puck to the blue line or turning it over there is the worst thing you can do. I think they will come out much better tonight but i'm not sure if they can beat them in the series.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 04, 201305:56 am UTC
Agree with Steve, if it wasn't for Anderson, youza. So many shots were made on him it was quite astounding (I'm big on goalies, and he was definitely the star that game). Granted the angle was cut on most of them, but still, you want to block some of them with the D. No going to talk about Price for the first game, as I'm not too happy with his resulting save average.
Although it was a suicide pass, you can't take all the blame off the guy hitting. It was a hard hit and although it may not have been intended, bodies ended up in a head hit more than anything. At least from what I saw on the replays at the bar. They also called the penalty more to avoid an all out fight as chances were very probable it would have started, specially in Montreal as they were already pretty pumped.
Today's game on the other hand What was that thing about a sweep Mike?
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 04, 201306:01 am UTC
Oh and no need to say Anderson got stuck with a high stick first game, as he embelished it quite a LOT himself. Sure the high stick was there, but there's no need to grab it and flip yourself down to the ground. I realize they need to show the ref what's happening, but that one seemed a bit too "oscar" worthy.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 06, 201302:03 am UTC
Well that was a fight galore... Not too happy to see something like that develop in all honesty. Ottawa played better this time around and Anderson was solid. Some calls were odd and many weren't called. One messed up game, specially with all the stuff happening at the end of the 3rd.
Also, third game, and a 3rd tooth makes its way to freedom.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 06, 201303:45 am UTC
I'm not in any way for fights in the NHL, it's a waste of talent. Because if it was truly the point of the game, I'd just get my goalie to deck anyone that comes close (he's padded), no point in trying to stop the puck when you can pulverize the player. It's pointless. They also didn't lose all the fights, Subban definitely showed he was tired of the calls not being made later on. Still not something I'm happy to see in any case.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 06, 201305:38 am UTC
As much as I do agree there was plays on BOTH sides worthy of supension, I still find it odd you judge a team from one game. Specially coming from a Leafs fan that had mostly fighters for most of their earlier years, relying on physical contact more than anything else to get their crowds into the game lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 06, 201301:31 pm UTC
There's a different between good old hard hitting hockey and being goons and going after players to brawl. I'm not judging by one game, Even that fat bug-eyed Walrus thing was pathetic.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 06, 201302:46 pm UTC
So I had a game last night and my team and I were able to watch the first 2 periods at the bar upstairs from the rink before heading down to the dressing rooms to get ready.
So while we started and FINISHED our game, the sens finally just finished theirs.
My GF was on the bench with us so she kept us up to date and when we (my hockey team) were up 2 - 1 then 3 - 1.. and she kept saying it's 4 - 1, 5 - 1...I'm thinking she's crazy but then realised she's talking about the sens game...
Then we heard about these fights breaking out. Apparently it all started with a two handed slash at center ice from Ryan White.
Just finished watching this video;
And that's exactly what happened.
Also read an article this morning about how Therien (mtl's head coach) was whining about how Maclean (our coach) called a time out with 18 seconds left when we were up 6 - 1, and Therien thought he was doing that to humiliate the habs, Maclean fired right back and said "I think they were doing a pretty good job of that themselves" LOOOOL
Favourite quote from Rodney Dangerfield;
"I went to a fight once, and a hockey game broke out".
It's part of the game boys and girls.
236 penalty minutes handed out in the game that is 60 minutes long. JUST WOW!!!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 06, 201302:53 pm UTC
The problem with Montreal is that they can't get their goalie to be consistent.
Having played in goal for my team, (albeit indoor soccer) I can tell you that if they trust you, it's easier to put on plays. If they sense that you're not in form, it's going to be hard to play effectively. Price had better start talking to the posts if he's going to summon what it takes in the big time!
Ottawa on the other hand is really impressing me. I didn't think that they'd gel. But they have, and they are stepping things up. Good on them!
It will be interesting to see if the Leafs can keep digging in. If Boston doesn't put this away in 6, Leafs will take this one, getting the moral victory.

Subban didn't actually fight with turris as that would require the other person fighting as well. Subban decided he wanted to jump him and punch away. I wouldn't mind seeing their Number 1 center get beat up by our fighters. Then they can cry how it's not fair.

LOL frack YA!!! Almost feel bad for Budaj for being thrown into the game like that. It was inevitable within a few shots, without any warm up, and the sens as fired up as they were, that ONE was going to get past him.
And Price..well, time to hang up the skates. Hope you've got a back up career lol
Zibanejad didn't kick that puck in..although it looked like a hinge'ing of the knee, it was his stopping motion that put the first puck past Price. Then pulling Anderson and 22 seconds before the game ends, who other than the new kid on the block CONACHER..Fuckin HERO OF THE NIGHT!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 08, 201301:15 pm UTC
Mike,
You hit it right on the head. Montreal should be beating on the Sens, but they can't get a reliable goaler. The Sens, on the other hand, look hungry and will go deep into the playoffs. They have a lot of good talent. They may even have what it takes to eliminate the Bruins...or the Leafs.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 08, 201310:34 pm UTC
I still say he kicked it in . Either way, playing in Montreal will be off the hook! Crazy fans . I'm not sure about saying the Sens will go that far. Do they have a chance, sure. But they were DOMINATED 1rst and 2nd. Had a measly 1-2 shots during their powerplays (3 of them). The main winning tool they have is Anderson, take that away and I don't think the defense could cope. Montreal never had a great powerplay line, any other team will definitely take advantage a powerplay against the Sens. They still have to get past the Habs with a goalie ready to redeem himself and a great playing team though!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 10, 201312:53 am UTC
Yeah, Dion F*cked up hard. But man what a game it was. I had tickets for this game it was worth every penny. Just wish we would have won.
Leaf nation was loud. Heck, we had more fans outside maple leaf square than Ottawas entire fan base ahah. These playoffs reminded everyone why we are the Center of the NHL universe and have the best fans in the league. Be proud leaf nation, Be proud
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 10, 201301:51 am UTC
Just came back from a 13hour shift to see MTL loosing 6-1 Holy KAZOOLIES! I didn't see the game but apparently they played awful. Price was gone anyway, unfortunately. My main reason for wanting them to win it.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 10, 201303:26 am UTC
Leafs will win tomorrow, and Grabovski will get his much needed goal. They have all the confidence in the world that they can beat Boston so I'm personally not worried about the 3-1 series

You mean center of the league financially not because of results right? And if you consider the "Best fans" people who will blindly cheer and pay for overpriced tickets for a sub par performing team then yes, you guys have a lot of those fans.

Toronto Maple Leafs are valued most highly out of all the teams and no city loves its hockey like Toronto. Its a fact, We have the most fans around the world, not just in Toronto.
Haters will Hate
Anyway back to playoff Hockey. Sens beat a Honda Civic of a team WooOOo .

Leafs are doomed. End of story. You can't seriously think that they can beat Boston 3 games in a row do you?
And Montreal was a great rivalry. That series is going in the history books as one of the best performances by the Senators and as much as I hate to admit it, I've been watching the Bruins VS. Leafs series and in comparison, there's been more action and more "edge of your seat" moments in the Habs VS. Sens series than anyone else in the Eastern Conference.
In fact, the Sens finished 2nd best in the league for round 1 performance, just behind San Jose who is in the Western Conference which means, we're technically the team to "beat" in the EAST!!
So...things are looking good for us, the BEST CANADIAN NHL TEAM!
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 10, 201304:09 pm UTC
In a perfect world, we would have swept the Habs and EVERY OTHER TEAM in our conference would go to game 7 and triple over time. More time played = more tired players, more injuries, etc.. That would give us a break to rest up between series and regroup as a squad, ready for battle.
I was almost going to say I want the Leafs to win tonight in hopes of bringing the Bruins to a game 7 but you just reminded me how much I would enjoy watching all you leafs fan crying about yet another lost chance at a cup. And don't evade to the fact that the leafs finally got into the playoffs this year. With all your hype and huge fan base, it only puts more pressure on your key players like Phaneuf who fucks up at the blue line giving up a 2 on 1 in over time and poor Reimer buckles under the pressure..Leafs fans expect too much from a sub par team.

GO BRUINS GO!!
You have it the other way around bud. Leaf fans couldn't be more proud of this team. We need some more tweaks to be a legit contender. Remember, we are facing a Veteran team who just won the cup 2 years ago. Boston fans and most NHL fans know what our team is capable of, I know its hard to admit for Sens fans but I understand.
Yeah series is 3-1 but its not over until its over. But f*ck huge diff between 3-1 and 2-2 what could have been .
If it does come down to handshaking tonight or Sunday We take the positives out of this season and playoffs and move on. Toronto has felt playoff hockey after 9 years and the buzz in the city is electrifying.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 10, 201305:44 pm UTC
How can you not? Deep gets a hype for a team that's mediocre with almost no past wins and hates on proven teams. MTL alone has a better team, fan base (yes we boo our team if they play like sh1t, unlike you guys who cheer for anything) and we actually get to the playoffs all the time. Leafs are more of a trend thing in Toronto for most people, they see the hype and follow like sheep.
As for the civic comment on MTL.... Last I remember there's a "CIVIC" Nation.... how odd that it's the "Leaf" Nation, coincidence? I think not.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 10, 201306:31 pm UTC
LOL you guys that don't watch hockey sure love the leafs.
Fact of the matter is hockey in Toronto is a religion. Leaf fans are not only in Toronto. There are fans across the world. Hate it or love it, There is a reason we have made the playoffs after 9 years.

I like G's reply about the civic nation hahaha..good point there.
And G, I hope we're still friends after that debacle. Sort of stopped texting me after game 4 hahaha
Actually that was a good one, not going to lie but had to put things back into true perspective.
Yeah no worries, I never blame the team they lose against, I blame them for loosing, period lol. Although I still say there was some debatable calls/goals throughout the series. Also missed the last game since I was still at work . Ottawa has a strong goalie as I've said before, just pray he doesn't get injured or unmotivated. Here's praying they bring the Nordiques back one day! Miss the old Quebec/Montreal rivalry.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 11, 201312:15 am UTC
Couple of hotties going to duke it out? And guys constantly getting into fights? Is this like Jerry Springer? Maybe I need to check out this "hockey" thing.......what time, what channel?
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 13, 201303:04 am UTC
Wooooo!! LEAFS!!!
Phaneuf had a much better game tonight, which is a great sign. What about the play of Jake Gardiner?! I would have picked him as the 2nd star tonight... he has so much confidence even at a young age.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 13, 201305:42 pm UTC
Lets just say as a non hockey fan, if the Leafs win its been earned with out a doubt. Still not a fan but I would like to see them finish Boston off and move on to the next round
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - May 13, 201306:23 pm UTC
The Leafs are tugging at my patriotic strings these days.
I find, for the most part, their fans similar to fascists in nature, but that doesn't deter on the great work the team is doing.
Would be nice to have an all Canadian Semi-Final! But first things first.
I'll be watching from my tablet...cbc.ca! Gotta love technology. The ability to watch sports, eat and drink, and go to the toilet at the same time has arrived people!

You don't say
Game 7 OT tied back up with seconds left in the game. This is a good one!
It's keeping me entertained while I reassemble my gt35r

Now that there's only 1 Canadian team left in the Stanley Cup running of 2012/2013.. I'm sure we're going to see a LOT of "bandwagoner's" jumping on.
And everyone is welcome aboard!
GO SENS GO!

Im wondering if maybe Boston was just playing them from the begining.. Like WTF the leafs are in the playoffs??? Lets have a little fun.. and when they get their hopes up at the last minute... we will crush them! !
Or maybe it was scripted! like wresling.... and UFC... Great Blue Hype!

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - July 05, 201305:10 pm UTC
Its a good choice. Detroit is looking to upgrade and will be a better team next year. Ottawa just signed MacArthur to 2 Years 3.25 Mill. Easily one of the better players on their team now.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - July 05, 201307:14 pm UTC
Yeah Im happy with Clarkson at 5.25 a year. He definitely took a home town discount. Bozak at 4.2 Is also very good. Scuderi was so close to signing with us, but we lost out on that one. We need a shutdown defenseman. I don't think Nonis is done yet.

Leafs suck!
Bah! I understand your pain in having to talk like that but no worries! We'll make sure that we help the Sens when they're fighting for 8th spot with all the other bottom feeders... I predict Leafs 5th overall and Sens 7th. Cheers
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 06, 201302:26 am UTC
5-4 Leafs
The overtime was B*llshit. That should have been a penalty when Kadri was taken down and a penalty shot when Bolland was taken down. and Bernier played amazing!
We continue to dominate the battle of Ontario. What is that now 7-1 leafs in the last 8 games lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 06, 201302:30 am UTC
I would have to say both were pretty dive-ish. Which is why the first one wasn't called and the second one wasn't a penalty shot. Even the leafs fan announcers said that.
It was a pretty good game. Not at all a fan of that stop and spin move tho because the player actually stops and then shoots.

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 06, 201303:28 am UTC
Yeah but at that point when its 4-2 that's his job to get the team pumped. Orr was talking to Neil. He didn't go after him. I like fighting in the game too.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 06, 201305:57 am UTC
I had a hockey game at 10pm so I missed the 3rd period and OT and SO. FML! But hey, we lost because those refs were greased to the max!!! This sport has a HUGE grey area simply because the outcome of a game can be biased on a referee's call.
Sounds like I missed a good ending for you bozo's.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - October 06, 201306:16 am UTC
Are you talking about you lost your hockey game because of refs or the sens There were 2 missed calls in the OT for us. Anyway that's 3 in a row for us

It was a decent game. I will say that even though the sens are 14th place, with our record now after 30 games, we were 2 points different from the year we made it to the Stanley cup finals.

When was the last time the leafs did that
Is that what the news is telling you over there in la la land ? ... Pathetic.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 21, 201412:15 am UTC
CANADA!!! Women played so-so in the beginning and amazed me in the end. Great game so I can only imagine the men will do the same. They have a nation hoping they do
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 21, 201412:27 am UTC
So pumped. AHH can not wait!
Our department is taking the afternoon off to sit in the lunch room with beer, wings, and pizza for the game. Love how my creative director decided that, hahah.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 21, 201401:12 am UTC
USA has one of the best players in the world right now. And he is know to LIGHT up Price. I'm rooting for Him. I'm sure we all know who I am talking about .
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 21, 201401:25 am UTC
Yeah those Refs today were horrible in the Women's game. I know its not going to be a clean game, USA has a lot of gritty players. Did you see Canada getting thrown around by Latvia ? We have no grit, I thought we needed Lucic at the very least.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - February 21, 201402:50 pm UTC
Watched the first 3 periods on TV but had to catch OT on the radio on my way to an appointment, tuned in to the FAN590 and that is what I heard when Canada scored (the SportNet guys yelling).
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 23, 201401:02 am UTC
They were saying Leafs and Canadiens are the only Canadian teams with a chance to make the playoffs, is that right? That's pretty low in terms of numbers at least making it there (yes I know, a lot of Canadian players play in US teams). Still odd.
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 26, 201404:46 pm UTC
I'm so dumbfounded about Ottawa's performance in the last half of this season. Don't even try chirping us, I've been doing it enough for the entire city.
What a JOKE!
All I want to see next year is Hemsky signing, and letting Michalek go to somewhere else..Ryan...well, maybe he needs more time to adjust but when you're playing pro..you sort of expect more from a guy who was putting up 70 points in a season. The Team USA coach said it right, he lacks intensity.
And wtf is going on with Reimer and twitter or facebook? Someone trash talking him or his wife?? Fill me in guys lol
Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 26, 201405:49 pm UTC
Heard about Reim's wife getting trashed on Twitter but I'm not into FB or Twitter! so don't know much more. Pretty sad that people actually think it's the Goalie issue! JB was in yesterday and 4 went in. I think we can thank our Captain Dion Pyloneuf for that! LOL...

Re: Battle of Ontario (NHL) - March 26, 201408:53 pm UTC
I've never been much of a fan of Phaneuf, but after last nights game.... I absolutely hate him.
That cough up at the blue line on the penalty kill... frustrated the hell out of me. It's stupid mistakes like that which ruin any momentum the team has. He's paid more money than all-stars like Datsyuk, and more than players who have won the Norris Award in the last few years. This guy is supposed to be a leader, yet shows no signs of it. Step up or ship out!
#tradephaneuf
/end rant
BUT.... I really hope the Leafs manage to get out of this slump starting on Friday and get back to the basics to make it happen. They sure aren't playing like a team who WANTS a playoff spot.
