I tried to catch up but it wasn't happening.
But hey, I made it to a meeting for the first time in months so give me a little bit of credit.

Ok,
Black smoke = regular talon
White smoke = ??? <- someone pls give me an answer, does it have anything to do with my test pipe??
Ok, as for my troubles....Well, I was shooting down a long stretch of road, hit about 180, then my car started to slow acceleration, got to about 200, looked at the boost gauge, ahhhh 18 psi without an aftermarket pump. Then my car started to jerk and sound weird when I'm on the accelerator(kinda like a lawnmower). Went home, it still didn't go away and I was horrified. Reset the ecu, nope that didn't do it, it wasn't because of detonation. Drove over to Mike's house, we checked a lot of stuff, found an exhaust leak at the test pipe, used his error code reader and found no problems, then took off each spark plug. #1 and #2 plugs were ok, then onto #3 ahhhh, it was soaked with engine oil, #4 it was totally burnt. This scared the crap out of me. Then Mike did a compression check on my car, #1 150, #2 135, #3 150 (Yeah, no probs so far), #4 150. No bad cylinders. So he cleaned the plug wells and put a new plug in where the one was burnt to a crisp. The car instantly went back to normal. I was so relieved. Well, I already knew that I had bad valve gaskets. It turns out that when I over boosted it, it spat some oil into the spark plug well and probably shut down one of the cylinders. The burnt one went gradually cause it was leaking also. Well, my car is back to normal and I will be getting valve cover gaskets tomorrow at Crappy tire.
Moral of the story: Never overlook your valve cover gaskets especially when they are leaking. And oh yeah, BOOST CREEP SUCKS!!!!!

Speaking of the acura, I was in the middle lane going normal speed I knew she sped up cause she was getting away from me, I just floored it, counted to five and I was by her, cutting to the right lane. You should have seen the look on their faces when I passed them like they were standing still. They were all staring at my car, hahahhahehehe

Re: KW Caravan to monthly meeting? - March 06, 2000 01:53 pm UTC
No the moral of the story is when I tell you to change you valve cover gaskets and plug well gaskets you f#ck'n well do it I told Edwin to do it 6 months ago. That burnt pulg he was talking about was not just burnt... it was bridged... so cylinder #4 was just no doing a thing. Man when I took those plugs out I was sure he wrecked a cylinder but the compression was fine in each. Funny thing is that we found the exhaust leak we would not have otherwise found or even looked for. I took it for a test drive when he brought it over and I knew one cylinder was not firing at all
Glad too see it was only the bridged plug. So evryone who finds a trace of oil in thier plg wells go change the gaskets before you run into problems.
That Acura was funny... I was right behind it in the fast lane when the 2 other lanes opened up... she went to the middle on to go around the guy in the fast lane and gunned it... I went to the right lane and gunned it... in no time I slingshotted right past
. And then to see Edwin scream past her too was all too funny
Last night was funny... Edwin went from sh#tting bricks to total relief in about 20 minutes
Glad I could help. Send me an email when you want to put those gaskets in.
Later...

Oh and lesson #2 is don't run 18 psi on a stock fuel pump/wire setup. I have the rewire done and was leaning out to .81V or so at 19 psi in 5th... so keep it around 15 Edwin

Re: KW Caravan to monthly meeting? - March 08, 2000 02:14 am UTC
8:00? or 9:00? Hehe Jeff and I had our own little get together tonight... I was out cruising for kills and shortly after embarasing a 5.0L I passed a 2G Talon that was doing a U turn to come my way. Well he came upside and gave her and once traffic opened up we screamed down the road... his BOV sounded sicka nd was about all I could hear over the exhausts. I kept up right on him and was about to pass but there was a curve coming up and I didn't know the road well so I decided not to try and go around... damn good thing... I barely stayed on the road the speed I was going... the corner was pretty sharp (well at 110 it was pretty sharp). Anyway he pulled over a little further up and we finally met. He knew it was me cuz of the Quadcylla badge
Anyway it was cool and his girlfriend made fun of us
On the way home I waxed a CRX that egged me on with a squeal at the lights... he wasn't a prolem... Jeff on the other hand was pulling hard... harder then the Mustang
Hey guys watch out for a copy cat 'Quadcylla' out there... I heard there's a van with the same visor badge. After I thought about the place where I got it done the owner there was pretty smitten with the name and said he was gonna keep it on the computer... I wonder if it made it into his samples book??? Oh well... just let me know if you see any.
Correction on Edwins gasket price.. that was just the valve cover gasket... he just ordered the plug wel gaskets and that and it'll come to around $75.
Later....

I think from guelph, you go to hwy 8 west, then 7 east, then 86 north......did I get that right? Then you exit on University avenue West (I think), it is the second university avenue exit, I think the first one is east, then you keep going, past Wilfrid Laurier University until you get to University Plaza (If you pass University of Waterloo then you passed it) and then turn into the McGinnis FrontRow parking lot and we will all be there
