Brampton Meet.

Brampton Meet. - April 07, 2012 04:01 pm UTC

I think the weather is wonderful for us to meet, and I figure in the next few weeks it will be warm during the night so we can hang out a bit.

I think out last meet was on a monday or a tuesday (i can't recall) so we can all let eachother know when is good. I was thinking the week of April 15 would be good as it would give us just over a week to figure everything out. Trinity works very well last time so we should have it there again this time.

As for my availability usually mon tues and some thursday's are good.

What worked best for me is to take pics from far away, so no one can see you take pictures. smile

I can bring a camera too I like taking pics tongue

7pm works for me too

Anybody have an OEM bumper crash bar (the plastic and foam that goes over it) they want to get rid of? I'll grab it there if you bring it. I'm getting rid of the metal beam the original owner had on mine :S.

I have one if you need. If i end up coming i will try to bring it.

My Evo is in for Surgery! Fawk me the timing chain stretched on me 2 days ago. 85k on the car and only had it 2 months. I will know later today if warranty will cover it but they said they will have it till Wed the earliest as they need to over the parts.

I've read some of the Genesis Coupes 2.0T are having the same chain stretch issues.

Jeez, what a pain. Going to a chain instead of a belt and it's got problems like this.

Hope it works out for you Tim.

Re: Brampton Meet. - June 28, 2012 08:06 pm UTC

I'll more then likely come out for this meet. If you guys want to do it Mississauga we can always do it at meadowvale town centre

(http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1366&bih=636&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=meadowvale+town+centre+stores&fb=1&gl=ca&hq=meadowvale+town+centre+stores&hnear=0x882b469fe76b05b7:0x3146cbed75966db,Mississauga,+ON&cid=0,0,4545387731265429955&sa=X&ei=hbbsT6rKDcjj0QHzh63IBQ&sqi=2&ved=0CHwQ_BIwBg&oi=local_group&ct=image)

Or we can go to Heartland (Terry Fox Tims) lots of different groups of cars meet there like VW, Subarus, and of course Hondas. We should show these guys some real cars wink

(http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1366&bih=636&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=meadowvale+town+centre+stores&fb=1&gl=ca&hq=meadowvale+town+centre+stores&hnear=0x882b469fe76b05b7:0x3146cbed75966db,Mississauga,+ON&cid=0,0,4545387731265429955&sa=X&ei=hbbsT6rKDcjj0QHzh63IBQ&sqi=2&ved=0CHwQ_BIwBg&oi=local_group&ct=image)

No day has been decided, how many weeks do you guys need to be ready for this, is next week too soon?

Heartland and the location Rob and I were talking about are basically the same. Or do we want Dave's other location?
Posted By: David Bland

Re: Brampton Meet. - June 29, 2012 05:16 pm UTC

Yeah like Rob said, Heartland is the hot spot for car meets. I just wanted to throw out some options. I'm good for any day other then Friday or Saturday and next week is good for me.

I work at the Rona at heartland laugh I'll just take an extra long lunch so any day after 4 is good enough for me. There is always hondas and VWs at the tim hortons there so like david said maybe we can show them some real cars. Well you guys can for sure... my car needs more love and care still... actually cash. We could change the location of the meet? If we meet at bramalea in any of the covered parking lots the rain would't be a problem. And it is still on the way (actually closer), assuming were still going to the ertefa meet.

9 is fine. I work in the opposite corner so it will take me 2 minutes to get there. Assuming I can get off an hour early. Worst case if the ertefa meet is at the tim hortons in heartland I guess I could just go there at 10 after work since its in the same plaza

I did, but there's a small leak on rear driver side hard line.

The problem is, NO brakes at all. You stomp on the brake pedal and it goes all the way to the floor. Even then, it still wont brake. So there's a blockage somewhere and the shop confirmed it.

If Deep can get to me by tonight, ill have the car towed to his place to get a 2nd opinion.

If not, ill have the car towed at my place and i'll work on getting rid of the ABS, hard lines, proportioning valve and install new ones.

And my rear calipers are siezed, need rear rotors, need front rotors and possibly calipers as well...

FFS weep *sigh*
Posted By: Bryan Lawrence

Re: Brampton Meet. - August 23, 2012 06:30 pm UTC

Well you have my number if I can be of any assitance, probably best if you get rid of ABS, that's frustrating that there is a blockage, must be pretty far up if none of the brakes are working.

Great to meet you finally Alex!

Good to meet some guys off the board.

I had fun.

Yes Brampton has a little too many kids wanting to race at every light, but most of the guys were friendly.

Even a bunch rolling with 3 335is and 1 GT-R.

One guy showed up in a beat down MR2, non turbo, with dealer plates asking $5k for it.

There was a lot of rust all over.

Pffft.

Looking forward to more meets!

Can we do it earlier in the week? Hershey centre is good, we did a meet there last summer, tons of space!

This Friday is definitely too early for this group. I think we should plan this for two weeks from now.

Which days are better for everyone, monday, tues and every other wednesday (next week is the good wednesday for me), is good for me

Well since you guys can't decide on a date, and have them during the weekdays, maybe we should have a Brampton meet in Ajax so I can make it.

There's a timmies at Rossland and Harwood. How about you guys make it there and I'll bring out the beast smile Lots of backroads here too!

LOL usually we can't. However, Friday September the 21st at 6pm Hersey center in the north parking lot. Like Bryan said we will be there all night. And if you cant make that hopefully we can squeeze in another meet in ajax

That's what I was wondering too.

If a meet is on a weekend, I'm down to meet anywhere in the GTA or outside of it, especially if it's west of town, since I have to head back to Waterloo on Sunday nights. If it's a weekday, it's gotta be later, like Reza said.

Reza, I may have to take you up on that offer to come out to Ajax and check out 'the beast' and the backroads!

Unno about anyone else but I work part-time on weekends tongue Well like I said if it's better for everyone we can move it up to 7... were always there for at least two hours and once everyone else starts coming Im sure we will stick around even longer. The reason we're doing early is because we want some sunlight

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 13, 2012 05:43 pm UTC

The wife is with me only on the weekend which is why I always like to do the meets during the week, I also work at home a lot so late nights are usually ok.

I think Tim remembers last time I brought the wife to a meet...

We will setup a meeting next month during the weekend, that way we can have everyone come out. What is better for people saturday or sunday. I will also choose a place that is more east then we usually choose.

I am thinking of going to the CSCS I just have to check the calendar. I am supposed to go to the Picton Arm drop races on the 22nd but that is up in the air. Cayuga is way closer so that might be a better plan.

For those of you that have not been to the ring here is a vid of me following Alex smile

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcu7qYCFC7Y&feature=plcp

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kUeFI9uGOY&feature=plcp

I have been to the Forks this summer as well and I liked this much better. There is a road leading up to this through Mississauga/Oakville that i would recommend. Lower baseline road.
Posted By: Tim Sedore

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 12:09 pm UTC

Sorry to clarify i prefer the Halton Ring of the Forks of the credit. It is less busy and way less Officers of the law. Now that i am trying to promote speeding smile
Posted By: Bryan Lawrence

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 12:49 pm UTC

You are promoting speeding!!! Shame on you!

I have to agree with Tim though, but mainly because the Halton ring will take almost an hour or so, depending on navigator :P, and forks of the credit takes you maybe 15 minutes. Also as Tim mentioned the Ring, at least when we went, was not crowded at all!

As for lower baseline, I have not been able to check that out but definitely would be down!!
Posted By: Tim Sedore

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 01:43 pm UTC

I also have another route to extend it all the way to Eglington and 9th line in Mississauga. smile That adds another 30 mins of beautiful back roads.

Bryan, have you tested making a map in Google then importing it into your phones google maps? Will it follow the same route or redirect you via shortest path?

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 01:46 pm UTC

Woot..Woot! I'm getting so pumped!!
Posted By: Bryan Lawrence

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 02:02 pm UTC

So what I did when we did the halton ring was create the map in google maps and save it in my maps and then open it in my phone. The only issue is that you don't get turn by turn navigation. What I did when we did the ring was just follow the roads that were bolded by my map. The way you make sure it doesn't take the shortest route is grab the route and drag it to the road you want to go on, this way it doesn't add it as a destination. I don't think it let me save it after that though so I had to export it then reimport it tongue
Posted By: Tim Sedore

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 02:03 pm UTC

That is too bad. I was hoping to get navigation to work with it. I guess i will try to experiment with it. frown
Posted By: Bryan Lawrence

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 02:06 pm UTC

yeah give it a go, maybe there is a way to get navigation to work to make it take your route, i will do some research and report back with my findings!!
Posted By: Tim Sedore

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 14, 2012 02:07 pm UTC

I just found this from Thom, a Google employee post 2/24/2010:

Thanks for the question. What you've described is a fairly popular feature request for Google Maps Navigation. At this time, the behavior you're requesting isn't possible with the application. The team's aware of the desire and is exploring ways to better incorporate route selection/manipulation, etc., into Navigation, so look to changes in the app in the near future.

Wait & hope

Agreed!

Here is the Ring map I made, it's open to everyone know so Tim if you want to add to it then go wild.

http://goo.gl/maps/6FqhJ

Oh forgot to note that this doesn't back track at all so the route is actually a little longer if we plan on just doing the ring and heading back, this was because I didn't want to back track then go to cayuga, I don't think there is much missing though.
Posted By: Deep Mann

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 17, 2012 11:32 am UTC

I thought we switched it to Sunday the 23rd too, but Sunday is already CSCS and wouldn't make for a good meet (some might say there would be to high a saturation of cars). so Sunday the 23rd is a cruse to Cayuga and the Friday is an actual DSM meet. I know it seems like a packed weekend but please remember that the season is quickly coming to a close, some of us arn't lucky enough to drive our cars all year round.

Anyone please Chime in!

Well we didnt do the cruise on Sunday but i saw quite a few members out at Cayuga. I ran into Andre at the "random" road side inspection where he got a catless ticket then i finally got to meet Reza and his beast of a car. Unfortunately he suffered from the same problems as I did. No traction off the line frown I was able to at least beat my last time even without traction.

12.515 @ 112 mph

As for the meet i would suggest Thrus night. From what i have heard the Ertefa meets are back on in a new location. Maybe we meet up and cruise out there? I am planning to go Thurs. Anyone want to roll out there?

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 25, 2012 12:59 pm UTC

I was competing in SS class at CSCS. I got to meet Tim while I was in the staging lanes smile Long line ups and I only got 4 runs for the day, all of which were no good. I pretty much couldn't even get out of the hole good enough for me to stay in it for the whole pass. By the time I got the car dialed in at 40psi and got comfortable with the car, I called it a day and packed up. My best pass was a 12.1 which consisted of bogging the launch, getting on it in 2nd and 3rd and coasting the rest of the way.

I also got pulled over by MTO on the way up there. They did an inspection on my car which consisted of the following: Made me pull the e-brake up and they tried to push the car, it wouldn't budge smile They checked to see if my catalic converter was present, yup its there. Made sure the battery was secure. They checked to make sure the hoses coming off the valve cover were routed correctly and front plate was on properly. I told them the car is done right, passes emmissions, no leaks and everything was installed correctly. They gave me a clean bill of health a pat on the back and told me to go on my way smile There was a vdub and a couple of ricers who were getting booked in front of me. I got out of there with a smile on my face smile

Posted By: Tim Sedore

Re: Brampton Meet. - September 25, 2012 01:14 pm UTC

Thats pretty awesome that you can bog out of the hole, then coast and still kick my ass. smile I hope next season i can see you make some passes when its all dialed in correctly.

Exactly what happened when I got pulled over by MTO here in Brantford, I thought for sure I was going to get a ticket but as long as you know what your talking about and have things ran properly and not half assed you'll be fine. They also made me blip the throttle to see if it was burning oil or coolant. Its nerve racking especially when they're out to give you a ticket.

They also have another meet close by called the Mashup

We should try and have it during the day so like 1- 2pm so we can have some gorgeous sunlight but night time works too.

As for location I think the Hershey centre was a good location as it was empty around that time of the day and its not far from where everyone lives.

We could meet at the Powerade Center (7575 Kennedy Road South
Brampton, ON L6W 4T2). You get a huge parking lot, hockey games to watch if you have time to kill and a bar upstairs.

Or somewhere else if you have good places.

Fine we can delay it, but delays is usually what happens most of the time and then nothing gets done. The way I was thinking was more meets that way more people can go since there's always going to be someone busy or that can't make it on some particular day.

You should do another cruise day. That was fun!
Posted By: Guillaume Berton

Re: Brampton Meet. - June 27, 2013 05:42 pm UTC

I'm not big on Ertefa mostly because of the mentality of a large group of people there, and like someone mentioned before, it's a great place for thieves to scope your car for later. Then again so is parking at any parking lot for that matter so that last point is a bit moot.

I'll try to make it that day but it'll depend on my hours since I'm on call. Like I said before, more meets is better since some people won't always make the date of the one specific meet.

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 04, 2013 05:01 pm UTC

So what should we do if it rains?
Posted By: Bryan Lawrence

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 04, 2013 05:04 pm UTC

If we don't want to stand by the cars we can go inside and watch whatever is playing.

I doubt it will rain though, was saying it was going to spit all day until 5 so I think we should be good.

...and you still beat me there, haha.

Was a better turn out than expected! Sorry I couldn't stick around too long, but it was definitely nice to see you guys again, and get some new faces for names.

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 04:02 am UTC

Think it's just the battery or alternator. As for the trany, just haven't gotten the chance to change it yet, and she grinds

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 05:31 am UTC

G, you wanna borrow a battery to test that? I think I got one good one here.

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 06:16 am UTC

Sounds like another Saturn alt swap laugh
Posted By: Bryan Lawrence

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 11:52 am UTC

Haha Gui, no worries!

Yeah Johnny that's what I told him. More than likely the battery is fine and the alt seems to be struggling a little.

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 04:57 pm UTC

I'm good Stephan, I have a almost new Optima battery from my 2g (yellow top) so I'm trying that out today. Thanks for the offer though smile

Think it may be the alternator though specially when we looked at the voltage drop with accessories (fan/radio/lights) before leaving. May not have been too good for it to have water from my water pipe drip on it when I had a leak a couple months back. That may have been the culprit.

Who's got pics of the meet? It'll make me all fuzzy inside to see pictures of my 1g actually somewhere other than in front of my house being worked on lol

hahah! yeah I want to see pictures too!

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 05:18 pm UTC

I'll post pictures asap....

I'm dealing with a failed water softener right now, she blew the valve and allowed all that sediment thats supposed to be contained to run through all my pipes and clog every faucet, toilet and my washing machine/dishwasher.....F*uckin houses! almost as bad as dealing with DSM's

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 05:19 pm UTC

First my A/C and now my water softener, Hopefully I'll have the water running normally before the wife gets home shocked

Re: Brampton Meet. - July 05, 2013 05:31 pm UTC

Damn, I think it's "everything goes wrong" month. My laptop died on me 2 weeks ago (hard drive failure) and my Seagate 1TB GoFlex died on me today, although I think the drive itself is still good, looks to be a power or transition issue.

Well that and all my car issues tongue

Damn, that's the worst. Fingers crossed but I have yet to have a drive failed. One of my seemed to signal while it was failing so I was able to grab everything before it died.
