PPG's 2002 shootout caravan info - June 12, 2002 01:16 am UTC

OK here it is, hot off the presses
The GTA caravan info is as follows.

Thursday July 18th
-------------------
Meet at 9:30 - 10:00am at the old Computer City parking lot at Eglinton and Hurontario (just north of the 403). We will depart there at 10:15 am and head to the highway.

11:00am meet at the Home Depot on #20 in Stoney Creek (Centenial Parkway). This is about 1 block from the QEW. Pee break, and Tim's run till ~11:30am.

Lunch will be in NY state at the Mcdonalds on the interstate ~1:00-1:30 pm.

We should arrive in Ohio for supper time.(mmmm bacon gravy!!)

NOTES:
1- you NEED a passport or birth certificate to cross the border!!!! or they will turn you back.
2- Gas stops will be at the places we meet and or eat. SO please make sure your tank is full of Sunoco 94 BEFORE you leave.
3- The interstate in NY is toll so you will need some american $$ for it and the lunch at McDonalds.

Please also note that this is the Caravan I'm participating in and these times are not up for discussion If you are not heading down on the Thursday...MYOC (make your own caravan)

Please let me know if you plan on joining us!!!!!

Please don't forget the FRS radios to use and a spare set of batteries. It passes the time a ton better when you can talk to someone (most of us will be alone)

PPG
As related to the FRS radio post do the Cobra radio's you guy's used last year have the sub channels ?
Posted By: Mark PPG Scheitzbach

Re: PPG's 2002 shootout caravan info - June 13, 2002 12:44 am UTC

Sub channels will come in handy at the races or Cedar Point. For the ride down its not important, and actually becomes more complicated smile

The best ones to buy are the sub channel ones, but that not what most of us bought smile

I found this frs radio for 35 bucks at one store http:/ /commerce.motorola.com/cgi-b...ABOUT%AE%20T5200%20AA%20Alkaline%20Radio
Are the "38 Interference Reducer Codes" subchannels? Or is that something else?

BUMP!

2 weeks to go guys! wooohoooo

Please make sure you remember your Birth certificate/passport.

also please remember that the US has a ZERO tolerance for drugs. If you get caught trying to cross the border with any banned substance your car will be impounded.

also please remember that if you have a criminal record you may have problems crossing the border.

I did see that Future Shop has an FRS radio on sale this week for $29 smile And bring extra batteries too, you'll be surprised how fast you go through them.

Oh boy, look at PPG stirring the pot, I back down from no one, not even the purple Lazers scare me, because we all know my grandma shifts faster than 12.5 @ 114

Ya I don't know why no one wants a vented O2 housing. I love mine, the V8 guys love it, the Import guys are afraid of it and it has to be an east 15hp gain.

There's nothing better than pulling up to a packed parking lot on "crusie night" and having all the heads turn as you let a little vent go, the thing just sounds mean.

Did you really expect a thread that has Myself, Yourself, Steve K and Darko posting in it to end without a few flames?

Ya it was a shift nob because she said your little ppg knob wasn't even a hand full, more like a thumb and fore-finger job.....

Please Darko the way your car is running I'll give you a car length and still beat you by 4 at the end of the track bird

LOL... You should be so lucky.. It'll probably be about a tank each way, so you're probably looking at about $20 each way....

Or some "favours" on the way down.... laugh

Don't worry, Darko the way these cheapass DSM guys are going, PPG will have about 4 of those 02 housings sitting on his shelf.. wink

Wait a minute here... I don't know what kind of agreement you think we have here but there will be no favors or anyone or anything going down.... I think I want to drive up with someone else. You think you know someone...

Just wait till the next person goes to a 3" exhaust and develops the dreaded boost creep, they will be begging for the vented 02 housing.

Re: PPG's 2002 shootout caravan info - July 14, 2002 05:08 pm UTC

Yeah, Andy's not going. frown

Me so sad.

It's a work thing... and it's not their fault, it's just really bad timing. We've got about 4 months work, culminating in the next 4 weeks.

Including a move, on the weekend of the Shootout, so I can't avoid it, let alone take an extended weekend.

I knew since January that we had a lease expiring at the end of July, but worked at it, and hoped that the move would fall on another weekend... And it was, for the longest time, but the landlord then told us we had to renovate as we left, and we had to move things up a week.... right smack into the shootout. frown

So, guys, have a blast... I'll be thinking of ya, trust me. I was really looking forward to this.

And Mark, when you pull that 11 second run at Norwalk, I want you to call me from the return lane while you're picking up the slip. smile (seriously!)

Re: PPG's 2002 shootout caravan info - July 16, 2002 01:57 am UTC

Norm, if you look above at Steve's post you will get an idea of where we will be at what time. I still think that meeting us at the McDonalds between 1-1:30pm. I have little knowledge of that Niagara area so I wouldn't like to guess.

Please also note that there is a Sunoco just up the street from the Computer City parking lot in Missy. There is also a Sunoco a block away from the Timmies/Home Depot in Stoney Creek.

PLEASE try to have a full tank when you arrive at the meeting points. Gas isn't much cheaper in NY and finding a Sunoco is tough near the interstate.

Also make sure you have some change for the tolls in NY state. ($10 in small bills/change)

I won't be joining the Caravan because 1) the car's under the knife for even more mods and 2) Ohio's just too damned far away to drive. But myself and the missus are flying to the Shootout - we'll be at the Gull on Thu/Fri/Sat nights. Take Hwy 6, to the 403 (East.. towards toronto..)

Then get on the QEW Niagara. Take this, over Hamilton harbour, and exit on Centennial Parkway (first exit after burlington street). Turn right on Centennial. Home Depot is a short drive, on the left hand side. (first, or second set of lights..)
