Re: Week end of fun at the 20013 Shoot Out - August 19, 201311:01 am UTC
Had a great time once again. Participated in Max Effort on Saturday so I could watch all the drag action on Sunday. They changed it up a bit from last year where smaller groups did all 4 runs back to back. This made it easier to remember the course but a lot of the cars were getting pretty warm by the end. One Evo sent a steam geyser up 10 feet as it puked most of his coolant. I was pretty stoked listening to the times for DSM class. I was sitting 1 - 2 throughout my group but then lost track as the other 2 groups went. The drag portion went well although I was battling a bit of a clutch slipping issue. I still managed an 11.7s. I'm still waiting for the results to be posted but my hopes of moving up into the top 3 are reduced.
Lot's of personal bests by the group. Looking forward to next year. I have some GoPro footage I will try to post later. Right now it's sleep as I drove home through the night and just landed about a half hour ago.

I was able to make it there and back with no issues. I was so scared because the car has not gone further than a 50 min drive to the track in the past 3 years. I got nailed by some border patrol before we even hit the booth. They pulled us out and searched my car for "drugs and weapons"

I was probably in the truck napping in that picture. Nodded off for what felt like 15 min but was actually 2.5 hrs. There were some other Quebec DSM'ers there as well as two other trucks getting gas with DSM's.
Jamie makes an appearance at 9:55 and I make an appearance at around 13:57. Holy crap does my car ever squat hard...the front wheels almost come off the ground...need to see if I can get a video/picture of that from Tom.

I hear you, I usually pull off the return home in one 12 hour shot, just couldn't do it this year, I had to make a stop at the Quebec/Ontario border for a 1 hour power nap.
I saw the Quebec guys hanging around, gave them a wave and continued on, got in my driveway at about 7:30am, unloaded the car, slept for a couple hours and went to work at noon. I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow last night.

First time I used the Gopro on the car. Here's my 3rd Autocross run where I pushed it a bit too hard and get out of shape. No cones but the time sucked.
Sorry for all the extra footage. Fast forward to about 1:26 to where the run starts.

GPS took me to the other border crossing instead of the usual one and what a disaster. Id say over an hour was wasted there making my trip home a bit longer. Rolled in around 830 after stopping just outside niagara for fuel and food. Fun trip for sure, just not to sure if id stay where i did next time. Sure it was free and got to see friends, but about 1.5 hours driving in the states each way is more than id ever want to do again. Stupid MPH.....and tolls....and states troopers.....

And the one day, some juice monkey cop pulled a U-turn to follow me for a mile or so, before he decided I was scared enough, and backed off...still had my tech card numbers all over the car...I think he was getting frisky for some good old abuse of authority...

Guess whos back!
I would like to thank the DSM crew for talking me into actually competing this year and offering up trailers if needed. You guys are awesome. I would also like to thank Salomon for riding along with me during the Autocross to help a rookie out. I think he almost sh!t his pants when we went way off course and almost though the fence. I guess short cuts only work in video games....
I have a sh!t load of Videos and pics to go though. I will post some soon!
Salomon and I both made it to the quarter finals in the B1 bracket racing. We were 2 of the slowest cars in the bracket. We were both up against 10 and 11 sec cars. I had fun and my best time was 12.67 @ 105. Time for a bigger turbo!!
lol, that was one of my worst launches...i had a lot of problems getting my 2-step setup. i would either bog hard, the car did nothing for a half second, or i would get wheel hop bad...hopefully Ziggy can help me out with that rear roll stopper.

Hey Guys I did a quick drive through just to give you an idea of how massive this event was! This was coming from the staging lanes back though the course this weekend at the 21st Annual DSM/EVO shootout hosted by Buschur down in Ohio. I decided to compete in the B1 Bracket racing and came in 4th place. More videos and pics to come.....

A lot of people bring motors amongst many other parts...especially if they're either a) local and/or b) coming from WAY far away and have sh!t to sell that costs a fortune to ship otherwise.

One of my buddies knew a guy with a short block for sale about an hour away, few phone calls later, her was there with it in the back of his truck. It was a built 4G64, Manley 9:1 pistons and H-beam rods, assembled and never ran, scored for $700. I had to drill his 7 bolt head in the parking lot with a Wal-mart drill to fit over the 12mm head studs, then take the head to the car wash to wash out the shavings. Ideal, hell no, work, hell yeah. Not to mention timing a 4G64/3 combo is a bit iffy as well without adjustable cams, but we did it and it runs like a champ.
Thanks to Salomon for riding along with me to give me some pointers. I do appreciate the help but I need you to come clean out the sh!t stains you left behind! lol
