Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - December 04, 201309:59 pm UTC
I would love to make this year my 1st of many, I know my car will be ready to make the trip and maybe...just maybe make it onto the DVD (even if its just in the background)

I'll be there once again.
Spending 4 months in Europe - including enjoying the Autobahn, the Nurburgring and going to all the famous tracks and museums - is the kind of traveling I had in mind Not that I won't miss the Shootout if I can't be there.

With sandra in school... Is a money thing for us. If we can aford it then we will be there... But we wont be spending alot of money a fancy restourants... Gotta save it for beer and racing.

I'm trying to drag a few of us northerners down. Hopefully kyle can make it this year so that the dsm community can finally see his car. Theres a girl up here with an evo 9 that im trying to convince to come with us too.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - January 31, 201411:23 am UTC
So we started a ShootOutSavings investment! looks like right now we have atleast enough to drive 1 car down.. Race.. and sleep in the hatch! So its safe to say we will be there.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - February 09, 201401:57 pm UTC
Her name is sam. Her car was just featured in the latest pasmag tuner battlegrounds or something like that. I'm sure I can get pics of the car but id have to ask her first. She said she bought it from quebec few few years back with a salvage title and rebuilt the whole thing with her boyfriend.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - May 23, 201401:24 pm UTC
I will be there for sure. I already have the time booked. I just hope the car is ready
I just ordered a Garrett GTX3076r. It should be here next week.
I will most likely be racing but we will see how the car is running.
I just did a full vinyl wrap in Matte Pearl blue with a satin finish. It looks pretty sweet considering I have never wrapped anything before. I will post pics after I finish it this weekend. I ran out of time last weekend. I just need to finish the bumpers.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - May 23, 201411:47 pm UTC
I plan to make it this year also, as long as I don't run myself over again. I don't have the scooter insured this year yet, so probably have to come in the van. On the plus side, maybe I can convince the Mrs. to tag along.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - May 24, 201406:07 pm UTC
I don't mind getting paid for my service, LOL...
reminds me of the other day, was at the gas station, had a case of beer on the passenger seat. This good looking blond with huge tits leaned into the window with her boobs on display and said: "hey old timer, ...interested in trading beer for sex?"
I thought for a moment, then asked her: "depends...what kind of beer you got?"

Should take my reservation in the next few days.
You can visit their official website for some info; or take our word as a decent, easy gow'n Motel that is out in a nice quiet spot and 'bout 20 minutes drive from Norwalk.
Been staying at the plantation for the past 8 or 10 years. All I have to say is bring your party hat or a nice and bright Hawaiian shirt!!!
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - May 30, 201401:36 am UTC
I dont even think its 10 minutes from norwalk.
But when you go thru the border... Bring a printed copy of the hotel booking, some sorta flyer for the shootout, proof of where you work.. The American border police are bullies. Almost didnt make it thru.
This year guys... During the first day of Dynos... We should park our cars at Buschers first and then walk to that resturuant for BACON GRAVY!
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - May 30, 201403:01 am UTC
Hmmm, I crossed at the 1000 islands last year at 3am and they asked where I was going, I said the dsm shootout in Ohio, officer simply said have a safe trip and handed my card back.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - June 10, 201404:26 pm UTC
I dropped the ball.... Big time, I called 8 different motels and the only place that has vacancy is the plantation.... But it would be just shy of $600 US for the weekend... FML
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - June 10, 201405:24 pm UTC
There's plenty in the area cheaper than that. From past experience I would expect between $120-150/night
I've stayed in the Best Western, Super 8 and Econolodge, rooms were decent, BW being the cleanest by far. You don't spend much time in the motel anyway. Don't forget if you are a CAA member to mention it, most places will give you a 5-10% discount.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - June 11, 201410:32 pm UTC
Ok.. i just called.. Im in a double room. Beside Guilliume I think he said?? And my total is $358 for 4 nights... Check in on thursday... Leave on monday... Drink and race the whole time in between!
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - June 13, 201402:09 pm UTC
Looks like I am going to miss again this year. I didn't book early enough, and the new format just doesn't work for me, ever since they added the extra day to the event. I would be interested in the Friday and the Sunday, but have no interest in the Saturday events, so I would need to either spend a lot of time and money and sit around for a day doing nothing, or else make the very long drive for ONLY the Sunday of drag racing. I would have considered that if I still had the scooter insured, but I did not insure it this year, as last year I only rode it about 3 times....and $200. in insurance every time you turn the key is just ridiculous.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - June 20, 201401:27 am UTC
Quebec is the only place I've ever seen that pretty much every corner store...I mean "dep" has curd cheese for sale at the cash, more popular snack than chocolate bars or chips. Kinda like the slimjims of the states.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - July 15, 201412:07 am UTC
Ok got to ask, is anybody going that is not taking a DSM. I would like to go but the 5000k is to much because I am not going to have everything done to the car to be ready.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - July 18, 201412:48 am UTC
I must be lucky, cause I drove to Nova Scotia, around half the province, then back again with a 1 year old and a 4 year old, and they were good the whole time...
anyway, I'm going to Nova Scotia again this year for my best friend's wedding, and can't afford to go to the shootout, and then to Nova Scotia the following weekend...even if I could afford it, the driving would kill me. I had a blast last year and it saddens me deeply that I can't make it this year...

I went to PEI 2 weeks before the shootout last year, almost 6000km's in about 3 weeks, that was more than enough to suite me for a while.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - July 18, 201410:24 pm UTC
Having some drinks with Ghislain, Jamie and myself this evening. We will be mulling it over. If we go ahead, there may be a few spots left. Cheap if we can get 8 people.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - July 29, 201403:04 am UTC
Wonder If I can get a good set of new tires for a good price down there? Maybe Ill get TireRack to ship a set of Ventus v12 Evos to the plantation! There on sale for 69 us.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - July 29, 201403:22 am UTC
You'll get substantially better deals on tires down there! But if you mount them and drive them back, make sure you scratch the little red and yellow dots off the sides so they don't nail you on duty

I am back now (as of a day and a half ago) but I haven't a penny to my name now so it's really not an option. There's absolutely no way my I'd be able to afford taking my car, but even without a car there's only a very slight chance. Pretty upset about it - first SO missed in 5 years - but such is life
Will have to see if I can find some odd jobs for the next 2 weeks to earn some cash.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 01, 201408:02 pm UTC
Well, my car should be roadworthy again before the SO (brake lines, oil leak and tbelt is all) but gas and racing costs make up probably the biggest chunk of SO expenses. I'd love to take the car for the 4th year running but realistically if I'm going it's as a spectator. You have my #? We'll discuss.

Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 09, 201411:19 am UTC
Ryan, Paul would know more, but even though my car was a 97, the drivetrain components were all 95-96 style. I think Paul looked up some numbers and figured they came out of an Expo or something, but they were 95-96 style.

It seems we are slowly loosing trailers. If you would like to follow a trailer(murpheys law) We will be stopping in Buffalo right after the border and staying there till noon at the latest. If you wanna ride the rest of the way with me.. Txt me and make plans. Or ill give you my number and then if anything goes wrong...I can pick you up on the way but you have to beable to drive the truck with the trailer.

We are planning to leave Trenton area at 07:00 Thursday morning. That should put us at the Angola Rest Stop on Highway 90 (NY State) between 11:00 and 12:00.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 11, 201403:33 am UTC
Actually, I was hoping Giz and the gang can give me a heads up as to when they'll be passing by my area and tell me the two way radio station they are going to be using so I can intercept them.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 12, 201401:56 am UTC
So far Ive had to keep up with Jamie and his trailet doing way more then 120... It would be nice to do 110! But thats if we can get the car drivers to stick with 110.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 12, 201405:25 am UTC
Plantation is my recommendation and is where I've stayed the past 4 years. A much quieter place with no real attention from the police. Right beside lots of nice backroads ( ) and a short cruise to town/the other motels where most people stay.
Additionally, there is lots of room for cars/trailers and they don't care if you work on your cars. Kiggly and others also usually stay there, so there's always some good conversations to be had.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 12, 201405:20 pm UTC
We rented a camper. Staying at the track. Did it before and it was honestly a great idea. Sometimes being in the middle of all that craziness in Norwalk isn't fun.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 12, 201405:43 pm UTC
The shoot out is kinda an entire part of ohio. We stay in Huron... Buchsers Shop is in wakefield... Track is in Norwalk... We spend alot of time in Sandusky.to eat and shop.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 12, 201406:02 pm UTC
The track craziness is what I want lol. Not the partying craziness i've seen some years in the town. Last time I camped there I ended up hanging out with John Shepherd all night and eating bbq, not to mention the steady flow of yager. I'll take that way over hanging out in Norwalk....
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 13, 201402:20 am UTC
2 years ago I stayed at a hotel in town. It was a wild party but someone tried to steal my exhaust in the middle of the night. Ruben saw him and said wtf you doing under my car. The guy ducked off and my exhaust fell off half way home. Last year I stayed at Plantation. It was quiet and just us. I felt safe.

Well... it's futher muckin 11:06 and I'm JUST sitting my ass down for a Vodka and Orange before I hit the hay. What a mother effer of a day.
So, my chip showed up at about 3PM after I called 4 times to find out where the actual frack it was. Next day shipping via UPS is a joke.
THEN, I had to go get the truck I was borrowing, rip my ass up to pick up a trailer wiring harness, install that stupid thing. Turns out the new controller was a dud out of the box. frack me.
Finally at about 9:30 Ghislain and I managed to creep the car onto the trailer and at about 10:30 I walked in the door.
I'm ready.
Sort of.
I know I forgot something, but oh well.
Ghislain, I have to go through Belleville tomorrow, left my brain bucket at the shop. sh!t.

Did some test n tune today! first run was horrable! Up against a GTR...bogged off the launch.. Second run... Launched awsome! Missed 2nd! tomorow gonna try Bracket. Maybe get a awsome run! Pics and vids to come!
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 17, 201401:33 am UTC
You weren't supposed to tell everyone about the sex change Jay, haha.
Did the auto cross after thinking I wouldn't run. Did 37.18 which wasn't bad at all. Oil pressure on the log was BRUTAL though. Dropped to 18.5PSI on turns from 55PSI.
GAURANTEED that I'm coming back next year. GAURANTEED.
Only problem is having to try to understand the frenchies. Haha

Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 17, 201410:57 am UTC
The pool and bbq are at the plantation. There is also a beach on the resort.. Overlooking lake erie.
Aperantly.. The other night some fishermen in the other rooms complained about us to the management. Said we were revin our motors in the parking lot and launching.. And doing very fast drive bys. The owner Todd told him, was out of line and that we come down every year and are good people. And can do what we want!! Then got Ryan to fix his old Triumph that was sitting in the motel storage.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 18, 201402:45 am UTC
So... SUNDAY!
I entered Bracket.. But could not get enough of a consistant run for a good dial time. So I made one up. Then on my first eliminator.. I bogged out and stalled!! Had to be pushed back off the track!! So I was out. Eventally got it running again and everything was fine.
No Canadians broke (other then magnus) and we had fun!
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 19, 201412:45 am UTC
Ziggy, sorry I wasn't much online so I didn't see your post. Just ship it to me and throw a gasket in there for Jamie...
Ah heck, I'll call you sometime tomorrow.
This year's shootout was definitely in the eye of the beholder.
I trailered my car down with the intention to run it, however due to the lack of prep time the week before, I was reluctant to put her on the track.
My car caught fire on Thursday night when a brake line touched a positive post on the fuse box while we were bleeding my new Wilwood setup. Ghislain coated a corner my engine bay in fire extinguisher. I was not the happy camper after that. It wrecked a brand new stainless line.
Lucky for me, there was a hydraulic shop across from Buschur that made me a new line. I did not make it to the car show.
Saturday was a bust. The car was not idling with the new T-Body and SMIM very well. I did some adjustments later on that day and it sorted itself out.
I forgot sh!t at home, I was incredibly rushed, I can't say this was my best shootout.
I made it home in one piece, and I did get to meet, and see some great people again. We had a good time overall, but it could have been better.

Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 19, 201405:50 pm UTC
Hello
This year had a bot of a different "swing" to it. Max Effort only allowed us 3 pass of AutoX and 3 pass of Drag. I managed a 36.148 sec for the AutoX. The course was pretty interesting with some technical corners and a good area where you could carry a little speed. Guess I killed a cone on my best pass adding a full second to my time. Never felt it. As for the 1/4 mile I did a 12.3 at 116. That Track is a little harder on the launch but I managed a 1.8 sec 60 ft. Not my best but the thing hauled the mail. Bummer was that the NLTS could not be engaged and I grinded 2,3 and 4 quite nicely...
Sunday was a bit of a bummer as I could only do 1 pass before the elimination. Gig started late as we had to wait for the Track Crew to clean it as it rained early in the morning. I was wondering why the thing knocked and found out; after I was eliminated that my Meth Nozzle blew off the IC Pipe; did not like the Boost...
All in all it was my 13 or 14 SO and was able to drive back home on it's own power.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 19, 201406:26 pm UTC
Oh and to add a bit of info.
Mike K and I were near Ryan's car when the "flaming" event happened. Ryan open the Hood and found a 2" column of smoke coming up from the "affected area". Mike K leaned over to check the source of the problem. By then I had grab a FireX and was standing ready to dispence. Mike K said; Mmmm not sure but I think you should squize a little shot which I did. Mike K's pretty Mug (face) was about 1 foot and a half away from the nozzle. Guess he inhaled a bit as he pulled away and let out two short cough!!!
I'm glad to report that both Mike K and Ryan's Car did not sustained further injuries. Both are doing fine and will recover.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 19, 201407:05 pm UTC
Haha,
That was a fun time, even though Ryans car caught fire, and my lungs inhaled fire extinguisher residue... Nothing some beer and sun couldn't fix.
I made the trek by myself to the shootout, and beat the bajeezus out of my car on the autocross(was my first time ever trying to make the car turn). Managed a 37.xx sec run, may have ran faster but forgot to check my last time. Then realized after that my internal wastegate wasn't wired all the way shut.
I am running a stock clutch and cant launch with it, so I didn't bother with drag racing and just watched the boys do their thing for the rest of the weekend.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 19, 201408:11 pm UTC
This year actually went really well for me this time around.
Brother had the fastest "Magnus" car first pass was his fastest as we were dealing with clutch problems. Ran 11.08@ 133MPH bogging on the lanuch and missing 2nd with just shitty Murica 93 pump. I honestly think with more boost, better fuel and a clean pass the car has a high 9 second pass in it!!
I also have the video of the ETS GTR doing the 7.80 pass on my cell phone
It was nice to meet some members here and finally put a face to their names. Also got to talk to Turbo Tom about his Gaylant which was cool and Robert @FP was really cool as well.

I talked with Yusuf Begic(own of the LHD Evo 2), he suggested to drop in a gallon or 2 of E85 with a full tank. I did that and back to zero knock. After I burned that tank up on the way home and refilled at Angola, knock came back.
I brought back 5 gallons of E85 to play with, hell it was only $15 lol.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 19, 201409:10 pm UTC
'Merican 93 Oct is definitely puke. Not sure but it probably equals to 91/92 Swill we get here.
Couple of Gallons of E85 sounds like a good idea; maybe adding some Meth to the 93 PukeWater could yield some similar results.
All in all a trip to the SO is well worth it for those that never picked up their "Skirts" for the "Stroll".
Lets make next year the killer Canadian Contingent. You Ladies that are trolling this post should definitely consider the Treck; you have one full year to put on your Big Boys Pants and come along for the ride. None of us that attended wear Dippers. You would soon realised that it feels much better that pooping in your Pants.
Oh and eating grown up food will make your colon much happier!!!
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - August 23, 201404:59 pm UTC
There were so many brake downs.. most people had easy runs. But David Buchser was pissed and made a post letting everyone know... That next year, if you dont atleast try and impress the paying spectators during the free run. You will be disqualified. This turned into a huge debate on Shootout facebook which lead to him saying Its his show... And if you dont like it... Dont come.
Re: 22nd ANNUAL DSM/EVO/GTR SHOOTOUT - November 05, 201403:33 am UTC
Got my first Dsport Magazine in the mail last week. Ordered from the Shootout! And in it, was their coverage of the the Shootout! no.. Non of us were in it... But they did list all the competiters for the important classes... Including stock appearing turbo! Which means GHIZ .. If you did enter stock appearing turbo, you would at least made it into Dsport magazine!
