Sound when spooling? Blowing Coolant? - August 11, 2007 12:34 am UTC

So, FINALLY my car's on the road again, however having some problems.

When I spool the turbo past 5 psi, it sounds horrible, or it's a boost leak, one or the other.

Also, when I start to boost, or stutterbox, coolant sprays from the turbo.

Any ideas?

Fix the coolant and boost leak.

Really?

I was wondering actually if anyone has any ideas as to where the coolant was coming from.

6 bolt with stock 14b and water/oil cooler.

The coolant is coming from the turbo itself? It is either the seals in the turbo are toast (thus the nasty noise and the leak) or the water pipe seals to the turbo or the main water pipe along the front of the engine are leaking. If it is the turbo you would probably be having an oil leak as well I would think.

Hey there Ryan the coolant on a 14b is in a channel inside the turbo it shouldn't be able to leak the only way it could would be at the connections to the turbo the seals inside are for oil only, check the fittings and work your way back.

Fixed! My coolant supply line had a hairline crack I didn't see.
