Mechanic left me high and dry - June 21, 2011 03:20 pm UTC
Hey everyone,
I have been around the board but have been absent for a while. I put my 99 Spyder in for an engine swap in a shop in Georgetown earlier this year and pulled the 4G64 SOHC out of it and dropped a 6bolt 4G63-t into it, FMIC and a few other little mods.... but when the shop got it about 80% done they just closed up shop and left me hanging.
It is down to getting the electrical done now and according to the estimate of the shop franchise owner who is helping me out getting my car back, it needs around 15 - 20 hours of work to get it ready to tune.
I have absolutely no clue how to do anything electrical in the engine which is why I searched for a shop to do the swap in the first place... but now I am car less and have no idea where to turn.
Does anyone know a shop or mechanic who knows enough about the 1G 4G63-t to wire the electrical into a 2G Spyder and is will to take on the job soon? I have heard from a few shops that are willing but they are all booked until late July or August which would leave me stranded until then.
I know roughly what I should be looking to pay for the labour, the mechanical is all done and looks sound, but it will not turn over since there's no electronics working. It is currently in Georgetown but I am willing to move it, tow it, trailer it anywhere if there's a mechanic out there that can get'r done.
Any help, suggestions, recommendations, hell even humorous anecdotes to make me smile in my time of tragedy are welcome.
Jay
