1G Clutch master replace?

ok so my 1g clutch master is shot, I puller drivers seat and crawled under the dash. I have adjusted it before and that was a pain but to replace it looks impossible! anyone got any tips, tricks or advice to get it changed? Help is needed and welcome.

It's pretty straight forward on paper. There's no tricks. Just get under there, prepare to be uncomfortable AF and deal with tiny spaces and zero light (so bring a flashlight!)

If you already adjusted it before, you have an idea what to do. Back the nut off all the way and remove it from the clutch pedal assembly. In the engine bay you just crack lose the clutch line, then unbolt it via the 2 nuts and pull it out.

There's really not much to it, just uncomfortable. I usually tilt the wheel all the way up, seat all the way reclined and back gangster style, and I crawl backwards on my back under it. Face by the pedals, feet by the headrest. Bring a light, and the tools you'll need because you don't wanna go back and fourth as it's annoying and hard on the lower back. Get it done in one shot and crawl out.

I'm 5'9, if you're extremely tall this might not work.

Would you be classified as "extremely tall" John?

I thought you had a "grease man" lined up? If you can wait til the weekend I'm happy to give it a go if you hand me the tools (beer is considered a tool BTW...but then again so am I)

If you're really that tall it doesnt take that long to pull the seat, that might make things a little easier.

Pull the seat - the 5 minutes it will take you is very worth it.

Also, to save you the biggest hassle (removing the cotter pin from the little pin holding the fork on the the pedal assembly), just do as Lucian mentioned and back the nut off then turn the rod by hand until it comes out, then remove the 2 nuts in the engine bay and remove the master cylinder. It's honestly not that bad of a job...

Removing the clutch/pedal assembly on the other hand...makes you want to sell the car or push it off a cliff.

Ok thanks Guys the tip about the rod may save some time , seat is out and Ben at 5'6" I am "extremely tall" when standing with 7 year olds Looking at it is always worse than doing sometimes and although not very tall I am wide and the footwell is cramped.

Being wide/broad is definitely worse than tall for this project, although tall isn't too fun either unless you take the seat out.

I never thought to remove the seat to be honest. Probably because my car was always against the wall and could only open up the door enough to get in, not to pull the seat out. But that's a good way to do it!

Once you do it with it out you never want to do it any way.

I've done it (pedal assembly removal) seat in and seat out and once the steering column is out then having the seat in isn't as big of a hindrance but doing all the work up until that point is still a PITA, especially if you are not particularly flexible and/or claustrophobic. It's already a claustrophobic job as is trying to deal with adjusting/hooking up the master cylinder connection.

I just stuffed my 6 year old under the dash to turn the rod.

it is off!!!!! fat is bad but I will tell you all don't get old it hurts. I have a 12 year old but he could not find the rod i was talking about but is great for handing tools and stuff.
