A couple of new users have joined in the last week, immediately putting parts up for sale. They may be the same person.

In any case, I've had 2 of these characters jerk me around trying to scam parts out of me. (Lee Richmond, Jeff McDougal, most likely the same person)

Be VERY cautious when buying parts, ESPECIALLY from people who just recently registered and posted straight in the FOR SALE forum. If something seems shady, but you absolutely have to make the deal, use Escrow.com or a similar service.

Ask them for their address and phone number, talk to them. If they use hotmail accounts or ask that you send the part or money to a PO BOX, call them on it.

This may seem obvious to some of you but I've seen a few threads in the past couple of days that seem really fishy, but generate a lot of interest.

Always a good point.

Never send cash.
Never send a blank money order.
Never send to a PO Box. (FedEx won't, why should you!)

If the person is in so deseperate straights in their life, that they don't have an address, and need the money that bad, THEN THEY should be the ones bending over backwards to be flexible for you.

PayPal is easy to use, and has a very clear method for dealing with fraudulent claims/products/shipments/refunds.

As for Lee Richmond, yes, it would seem that he got kicked off the board in BC, for cheating people, and is now trying the same schtick here.

Hehehe if he wants to play the gangs angle, I'll call up my buds from Kelowna Flightcraft, and have them look him up. smile

Andrew have you used Paypal's insurance/fradulent program?

Basically all they do is make you wait 30days by that time the person has drained the money from their account, then they tell you that you were right in your claim that you were ripped off, but there is nothing they can do. This happened to me twice now.

Needless to say I only use paypal for people I know and even then I would rather not. If you guys want to stay safe, use ESCROW.com they are excellent and 98% insure that you don't get screwed over no matter if you are the buyer or the seller!

I agree that paypal isn't all that great
it is good for ebay to save time
when your dealing with a good seller
to speed things up

but if you were to say
send a few hundred dollars
to 16 year old lee richmond
and claim you never got parts
It's more less your word against his

the only safe way to buy anything is in person

Paypal sux. I would never use it again. Luckily I paid them with my visa. Paypal said they couldn't get the money back. I reversed the visa charge. Paypal got mad and banned me. But I got my $750 back.
