Last week I installed the new AGX struts with Eibach pro kit springs man what a difference.
The car is on rails on the hardest setting (#4 setting) and feels solid when turning quick from left to right. #3 settings is firm but not as harsh and probably the best setting for every day short trips.#2 setting is good for long trips and firm and still nice in the bends. #1 is a little stiffer than the normal KYB strut.

I should be getting mine this week from the infamous group purchase from Absolute Auto in Florida (Ordered in May, still no shocks).

What car do you have?

Now I really AM excited about getting them on the car!!

One of the tech people at KYB told me that the new AGX and the older GABs are exactly the same, except that KYB will be marketing them. My car has GABs on the front and the AGX on the back. There is no way I could run those shocks set on #4 for the street. Even on the track, I run 2 in front, 3-5 in back depending on the track. If the AGX's are ok on the street at #4, there is no way the valving can be the same as the GABs. Either way, they seem to work very well.

I don't think most people will be ok driving around with the #4 setting you can jump up and down on the door yam and the car only moves like 1-2 mill up and down and im 190 pounds.

Okay, I finally got them installed. Settings are 2 (out of 4) up front and 4 (out of 8) in back. Read something about making the rears higher in order to get some oversteer. Anyone try this yet?

Drifting on a FWD? Is this possible? [Linked Image]

When I replaced the stockers, noticed that they were shot, so there is noticeably big improvement.

Have ST (I think non-progressive springs). Any one else with this combo have recommendations? Don't want to change if I happened to get the optimal setting for the streets. I'll try the hardest settings when I hit an autocross.

What's the diff (besides adjustability) between the AGX and the GR-2's? Not that I'd want race shocks in Nova Scotia. The roads are too bad...

I just received my set of AGXs from the "group purchase" (perhaps my last group purchase ever.)

Anyways, got a question for those of you who have them already:

Is the adjustment on the top of the shock for both front AND rear? I was expecting a knob for the rears like they always show in their ads, but it looks like it's the same as the front (adjust with a screwdriver?)

I'm pretty sure I got the right parts, so it's more curiosity than anything... [Linked Image]

Jeff, sorry to have to tell you this but it sounds like you got 4 front shocks. My rears have a relatively large black knob to adjust the stiffness. Fronts have 4 stages of adjustment, rears 8. They look like this:

For the 2nd gen all adjustments are made from the top of the shaft with a skrewdriver.

I feel much better now.

So that means that the 2G KYB AGXs actually have LESS adjustment than most of the other sets (including 1Gs)? That kinda sucks...

Hey, does anyone know how long KYB AGX shocks are guaranteed? I know that KONI's come with a lifetime guarantee. Just curious about the KYB's.

I'm leaning towards a KYB purchase since I don't feel like having to remove the KONI's from the rear end every time I want to adjust them.

Having been in the speed shop business I can confirm that the AGX's are indeed the GAB's adjustable shocks. Was told this fact by a top exectutive while i was at the SEMA show in Vegas.
KYB always made the shocks for GAB and now that the non competion clause between gab and kyb is void, KYB has decided to market them for themselves.

Just thought you should know.....


GAB's were quite expensive before compared to the agx's now.
It just proves that sometimes you do pay for the name on a product.

...Joe, I'm positive you can drift a FWD with the right set up...I've seen some 2WD class rally cars doing this quite nicely. Mr. Brais?

As a matter of fact, I just did some drifting a few days ago... Of course there was a thin layer of ice on the road. [Linked Image]

But drifting is drifting, right [Linked Image]

BTW, any advice on rear strut bars for FWD? Will these get rid of some of the understeer?

Is there a way to tell beside the "feel" of the ride if either your springs or struts are going/shot?

Anything visual? I've got an older set of GAB's and Intrax springs.
The GAB's are set on 1, and i feel every little bump in the road, when i hit a bump, be it large or small, the car sometimes bounces yet sometimes feels like a jarring motion.

Any ideas?
