ok guys... got a few questions... im trying to get some things straight with adding a turbo to my 98 gs. here are some of the things that im getting.

t3 garrett turbo
vortech fmu
walhbro 255 fuel pump
fmic
bov

i havent bought these yet but i was just wondering what its gonna take to put all of this on... im probably gonna need a new exhaust manifold.. what should i get? obviously a turbo manifold but does that bolt on to the 420a easy? second.. if i bought a turbo downpipe, should i get a turbo high flow cat as well?
also, im not sure where im gonna get all of this done, can you guys recommend some places? i was thinking of taking this to magnus but im not sure how much this is all gonna cost.

thanks

You will also need to change your injectors and FPR and the fuel rail. you also need a turbo MAS. Im am currently put a turbo on my NT

Vlad,

I'm the kid from Hamilton that ran into you once last summer with the dark green 95 awd with 17" spoked rims.

Its your best bet to purchase a kit rather than fabricating everything from scratch. Hann Racecraft has a great kit for n/t cars. But if you really want to go fast,, buy a factory turbo car, then upgrade from there.

Otherwise it'll cost you some good coin to run high boost.

Goodluck

The 2GNT is a completely different engine, and does not even use a MAS sensor.

If you are serious about turboing your 2G NT look seriously at the Hahn Racecraft kit, easier, bolt on, everything needed is there. Unlike the 1G cars it's not as easy to add a turbo with "collected parts"

ok... lets look at the facts... every turbo kit has these components or simular

turbo
exhaust manifold
fmu, usually vortech... star has this
downpipe with highflow cat
deltagate wastegate for high boost adjustment
fuel pump
fmic
bov

star runs the same exact parts for their kit. the only thing that they have in these kits are all the plumbing and their kits are meant to run at 15 psi/ average...im sure hrc is about the same.

my only problem is getting the plumbing.. im sure any exhaust specialist can bend these pipes to fit. and im also sure that most turbo specialist can and will have oil line and other adapters to make custom setups work.

so what do you think? this is what im looking at for budget

turbo t3 garrett.. about 300-400? usd
vortech fmu 100 usd
fuelpump about 100 usd
fmic.... ??? gotta go a find one
bov even oem is good 100 usd

the only thing i havent priced out is the plumbing... pipes for fmic and downpipe
and the exhaust manifold, im not sure if turbo manifold fits on 420a..

this turbo setup im trying to make will not be high performance... im only looking to boost 7-8psi daily-driven...

what do you guys think??

A turbo manifold won't bolt up to the 2GNT engine -or- a Garrett turbo, so that's out. You'll need a custom manifold, probably best to go with one from Star or Hahn since making manifolds is complicated and costly (and they have a tendency to crack when you hang a heavy turbo off them).

Making a custom FMIC setup and downpipe actually turns out to be more $$$ than you might think as well.

You'll also need to figure out the oil lines (and possibly water lines) to cool the turbo.

All in all, it's probably not much more to go with a kit, or at least to buy *some* of the parts from the kit.
