ok guys i have decided to try to become one of the fastest nt lasers. Does anyone know what i can do that will make a significant improvement. I heard something about swiching the cylinder head from a turbo motor to the nt motor raises the compression to about 11:1. Can anyone confirm this?

No the heads are Identical only cams changed between turbo/NT you can raise compression by swapping on a 4g67 head it addes .4:1 to your compression. If you want to do the NT thing right then look at something like this

4g64 w/4g67 head
Ross 10:1 pistons
Web racing 274 Cams
JUN Cam gears
Crower Valve Springs
Pull the Bshafts
390cc injectors
AFPR

A setup similar to that will put you in the 200hp range and making lots of tourque at about 2500RPM. Its very similar to my setup in my 4g64DOHC Mirage. I won't give all my secrets away though.

you could also gut out the car to save some weight.

like take out AC and all that sh!t. just keep in mind that you might have to spend too much resource to be the "fastest"

Also as Tim mentioned, the heads are the same. it has to be one of those worthless myths around the net.

And 11:1 CR is too high to be reasonably managable on stock control unit.

Just so that you know, 1992 Galant DOHC 4G63 came with a more powerful engine because it had more aggresive timing and higher CR, like 9.8:1 or something. It is essentially the only car of that platform that came with a knocksensor in NT form.

Looking at it costwise, you would be doing a lot more with fairly little gain when the turboing route is much cheaper.

11:1 CR isn't too bad, you just have to put 94 octane fuel all the time. You will have to look into some kind of air fuel controller that can control timing and fuel etc. Putting a thinner headgasket will also increase your compression ratio. With that Cam and valve spring setup managed a few posts up, you can probably rev your motor to 9000 RPM and still make power.

I have one of the small combustion chamber heads. If you want it, let me know, I'm not going to use it.
