Since this is a highly sought after link, I figured I'd sticky it here.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...d-shop-vacuum-diagram-removal-1g-2g.html

Here's a link as to why you SHOULDN'T remove emissions, credit to our very own Tim Grech for this one.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/224901-emissions-101-a.html#post50342708

Enjoy!

Thanks Ryan ! They were both good reads but I found in the 1g's I got faster response from my waste gate, if I keep the vacuum lines short and simple between the compressor side-MBC-and back to the waste gate.
Reading this defiantly makes me wanna run out to my cars right now and go over everything, and see how I have it all hocked up because I got my vacuum set ups off of taboo my self !

You need something like 4 vacuum lines in your car.

IM - FPR
IM - BOV
Compressor outlet to Wastegate
IM - Brake Booster.

Yes, yes it will.

Unless you can "tune" it out. There are guys who have run/passed E-Test with only a cat. A properly working cat is the big point in passing an E-Test.

The green cops will get you with a road-side sniffer!
There are some hefty fines associated with circumventing these systems.
The regular police could write you tickets just from a visual.

Not exactly.
If you disable the EGR you will also have to block it off with a plate (or use a JDM intake manifold), since the valve doesn't stay closed on its own.

AWD for the win! as long as they don't have a 4 wheel dyno, you may not need a cat to pass e-test.

as for the green cops. keep the vacuum lines on the intake manifold there. run them down behind it, put a screw in each, and zip tie them down. now nothing will look missing from up top.

I got a question regarding the removal of the emission canister: Should the fuel line be plugged after removal from the canister?

No, let it vent to the air. That relieves excess pressure to the tank.

Do be sure to zip tie it somewhere, where it cannot be pulled out, Paul, I got pulled over at Yonge and major mack and got hit with a #325$ ticket for that..

I think he means if you pull the hoses but leave the valve alone? That would be a vacuum leak, so yes.

No a removed or block EGR would not cause misfires or poor idle. A Stuck open EGR would.

Our EGRs are held closed by boost and vacuum. If you are removing your EGR, it must be blocked off or the car will run like sh!t.

Now that you mention it and I think about that, I guess since the EGR works off vaccum, if you were to pull the hoses it would stay closed. Blocking it just takes the valve out of the equation, in case it's stuck.

Ohh Ryan there's more to it? Without the boost holding it closed, it will open from the manifold pressure?

EGR is not held closed by vacuum or boost. It is opened by vacuum or boost. As the ECM see fit by energizing the control solenoid. You can have EGR operation under normal under boost or vacuum condition that is why they have 1 port above diaphram and 1 below it.

Hmmm... could have sworn our EGRs were held closed under vacuum, which is why when you remove the vacuum lines to the EGR, it will be left open. It's been a long time since I've had this come up, so I may be a bit rusty.

It would be a large boost leak under boost if the lines are just laying there and not plugged. But i am pretty sure it runs ported vacuum so a it isnt really a vacuum that is noticeable. If it run manifold vacuum it would be open at idle and run like a bag of poo.
