OK, My ECU guy nolonger does ECUs.

Anyone know of a good reputable place that does them?

I know of Frozen boost which is good and fast but hasnt replied to my email aboout my last Burn from him..

And obviously ECMlink... but im looking for fast and cheap!

I can socket ecus and I'm sure you can as well. Very very easy. The trick is to take your time

I been pondering the idea... do you clip the stock eprom first? or suck off all the solder then remove the chip?

IMO..Always suck the solder off first, it takes longer but its cleaner.

I will practice first on some junk.. but heres a cool vid I found amongst the many hondas and nissans videos Ive researched so far. seems DSMers dont atempt this very often.

LOL that's a creative trick with the solder iron, I am with terry, either grab a sucker or grab some braid to soak it up

where do you buy solder wick or braid? I cant find it online at CT Lowes or Homedpot..

That where I got mine. Some guys just use an eyedropper.

Solder Sucker

This is the exact one that I use with fantastic results (although most of the 'Fantastic' comes from the user right?)

Like Steve said..If you don't want to wait any hobby or electronics store should carry what you need.

I can find the sucker thing at canadian tire and lowes..

the sucker is what the pros use, buddy of mine works at IRIS Engineering and he swears by it.

Ok so I ordered a set off ebay. 60watt solder iron..solder sucker..solder (60/40) and some desolder braid. $20 shipped to my door.

Now i know I have to remove the coating on the circut board, using an Isoprophonal (spelling).. What do I recoat it with when im done?

That.... or there is a spray that seals the board.

Would glue gun glue work? China electronics always have something that looks like that on their circuit boards.

I would clip the old eeprom off first assuming you don't want it anymore, than use a wick to clean everything up. I tried to remove the eeprom the last time around and burnt pin 19 from excessive heat in that area, which I had to send the ECU down to ECM Link to get fixed. didn't cost much and took them 1 hour to fix my mistake and replace all the caps, however from Canada I had to wait 3 weeks for shipping there and back.

I'd just send it to the link guys, may take a bit more time (not really if you use a quicker shipping service), prices aren't bad & they fully test the ecu. I've sent more then one ecu down there, that ended up having issues that we didn't know existed.

They'll socket, replace caps & fully check it over, that way you know your starting with a 100% functional ecu.

If it is a 2g ECU, they seem to be a little more fragile, I would trust no-one except ECM link to do it. The 1g seems to be a bit more robust.
