I'm about to pull the trigger on a new set of these for the Evo X. I won't be tracking or auto crossing, these will be strictly summer street tires. My daily driving isn't aggressive at all, I pretty much just roll around in the Evo.

Just wondering if anyone here has experience with the treadwear on these for daily driving with occasional spirited use ?

Not worth it for a daily driver. Buy a lessor tire. It will last longer and its performance wont degrade as quickly as the RS3. you honestly will not be making use of it rolling around.They do wear down fairly quickly and I found out they lose most of there performance after about the end of the second season. I don't have the v2s but i read there even worse for heat cycles.

Go buy something with mid 200 tread wear rating. More life and you wont have a tire that is degrading as much as it ages.

I have 2k tied up into extreme street tires on the mini (RS3 and Advan ADO8) and now I look back at how little I used them for what there meant to do that I think it was a waste. And each set still has seen 3-4 track days each. If i were to do it again i would have a set of tires with better tread wear for the street and one set for the track instead of having multiple purpose.

Reza if your never planning on using them on the track then I would save the money. There wicked tires which really cannot be used on the street for what there designed for.

Essentially these extreme summers tires today are as good as the r-comps from 5-6 years ago. Its overkill for the streets.

Have a look at Pilot supersports. I'm on my third summer and they still look like new. That is with multiple 1/4 passes and occasional pay-per-lap at Shannonville, not to mention aggressive street driving with a top-heavy front driver(PT GT). Just today on the way home I was remarking how good they also are in the rain! Comfortable ride with a hard compound shoulder for when you really want to hone an apex or off/on ramp. Easily the best tire I've owned!

I was going to say what Mike said. Fantastic tires IF you're going to use them for what they're designed for. Also, keep in mind they suck in rain unless they're pretty much brand new. Having AWD helps but once they wear a bit you WILL hydroplane if there's heavy rain.

They do lack sipes. But if you're good with a drill.. You can make your own lol

After reading alot if reviews and lists.. It seemed that the best daily driver/weekend racer tire list started with 1.. Michalin supersports 2... Bridgstone potenza..3.. Continental DW... And then the sdrives at 4th. At the time the Ventus EVo12s were 5th. The sdrives were the most expensive. I talked to tire rack and a few Evo guys.. Both suggested us awd guys would benifit from the stiffer sidewalls. And recomended the bridgstones for the price.. But the super sports were better over all. Everythjng else in the list had to soft of sidewalls and were better for 2 wheel drive cars.

The RS8s were in there... But didnt score well for the low wear rating for a daily driver. Same with the advantis or whatever they were called. Lal

A sipe is about a 3/4 deep hole in the tread block that sucks up water as it compresses against the asphalt using the weight of the car, and kicks out the water as it spins. They can also be lateral veins in the tread block.

The circular ones are usually 3-5mm in diameter.

And they're fairly visible on winter tires.

I am super happy with the ventus evo12s, when all was said and done it was just about $500 so in the end they are worth it. They are good in the rain, though I don't drive too often when it rain but have been out when the ground is still wet. Much stickier than the nankang ns2s I had on before and side wall seems pretty good at least for a 16" rim not super still but not too soft either.

I wore up 2 sets of Hankook v12s in under 40,000 kms. They're rated at 280 TRDWR. More like 200. Street tires should be at least 300 imo.

Although I will say Hankook makes a great tire. I just won't be buying any more new sets personally.

I'll third what Mike said, any max performance tire really is a waste on the street, especially if you never plan to track them. If a cop ever spotted you taking a corner anywhere near their grip limits, you'd likely be in trouble

I know their considered "max performance" but my previous set of Kumho XS's I actually got somewhere between 30-35K miles out of them (& they weren't 100% worn). With awd, even just before I swapped them out, they were still great in the wet. They use to be fairly reasonable, & if you don't do a ton of driving, might be an option if their priced same or less then other tires your looking at.

I now run AD-08's but they see some lapping & my mileage is fairly limited.

Even a decent set of all season's now will probably offer enough grip for as fast as most will ever take corners, on the street.

So $1k cash for 245/40/18, they seemed like the best bang for my buck, I got them anyways. The tire guy told me he runs them on the street and they easily last him 3-4 summers, 30-35k miles just like you observed with the Kumho XS's. Says the new V2 are good in the rain, pretty much best bang summer tire I could get for the price. I think that is exactly what I was looking for. An excellent performance tire that would easily last me a few summers, not to mention they look good too! I am already used to the very sticky Advan A13c's that come stock on the Evo, so didn't really want anything less performance wise. Can't wait to get them installed this weekend.

My car had nexen 3000 poop on it an I went with toyo proxy. The review on them was good and I'm on my 2nd season with them. Wear is good and grip is good. Night and day difference between the nexen and toyo.

Has anyone else used proxies? I don't have much experience with tires so I really won't know where they would compare with the other tires mentioned.

Lets be specific. You'll come along onto the race track and lap along with me in the Mini. Hopefully running circles around me in that sticky shoe'd EVO

Most tires are night-and-day different to Nexens. I found a night-and-day difference when I went from Toyo Proxes to Dunlop Direzza ZII's. I was not impressed with the Proxes at all.

Good to know! I plan on getting new tires after this season so I'm making a list on what to check out.

I've been driving around on the RS3's all week, maybe put about 700 km's on them. I got the alignment checked out, 0 toe all around. So far I really like them. They feel soft and smoother over bumps than the OEM tires. I got them balanced on a road force machine and they are pretty quiet and smooth on the highway. Overall much better characteristics over the OEM tire. So for the 700 or so km's I put on them I thought I would see some wear, but they still look new to me. I can see the new tire nubs all over the treads still. I thought they would have worn down by now. Not bad, I guess I'll wait till end of the year to see how much they have worn down.

I made a decision to follow Reza's foot steps on Hankook RS3 v2 for my DSM. Recently i got my EVO 8 ENKEI wheels sandblasted and powder coated satin black so purchasing new tires was my next step. I looked at many different options but wanted to try something new that i never tried before so i got sold on RS3 V2 Hankook as my weapon of choice. I already tried Pilots, General, and Falkens but did not want to go back to those again. Toyo Proxes and Yokohama Advans were out of my budget so I respected Reza's review on Hankook RS3 and purchased those as well.

I was first set to use 235/45/r17 but since those were out of stock "forever" at TireRack i went with 245/40/R17 instead
