Was at the track today, managed to pull consistent 1.7 60' launches like it's a joke, then went from 13.1 to 12.9, to 12.7 at 105 MPH.

All stock ports, stock internals, just a FMIC, catted exhaust, 91 octane, boost controller, intake, injectors, fuel pump, AFPR and a stage 2 "daily" southbend clutch.

Not bad to end the day with a 12.7@105, being limited by intake temps due to waiting in line.

Who did the driving?

Good times. I have a new love for 14b AWD cars after owning one.

I was driving, being that my brother is out of the country for the summer.

Same, I wasn't a fan of 14b's till I got to the track. Was going to go with a different turbo soon, but he's keeping this one now and I'm going to do some slight changes and be back at the track to keep lowering those times.

Small turbos are a hoot, I've been saying that forever!

A 12.79 is 12.8 in my books but nonetheless that's a solid pass on a 14b. wink

I find the small turbos are great for good launches. I can get 1.6-1.7 60's all day on a 14b or 16G. Making just enough power to get up and go but not enough to worry about slipping wheels (on a prepped drag strip).

Unfortunately I will not be posting any tunes of my progress.

I also forgot to mention, that I have to look over a 2nd gear lockout issue which I didn't notice before, as this night as the first time launching the car as well as actually testing the tune.

1-2 shift took 0.8 seconds, compared to all the others which were recorded to be 0.3 seconds.

Well done on the 14b! One of my favorites Turbos of all. I'll never forget the overnight i upgraded from blown t25 to 14b with the help from Tim Grechin.

Please!!?? That's too bad, would be nice to compare it to what I am working with. I was pretty happy with my 13.9 last year with my leaking j-pipe, will have to see what she runs this year.

There's no secret "tunes" for that power level Bryan. I ran identical times on the bone stock Evo 8 fuel and timing maps on my 14b car. Not sure what Stephan is hiding, all you need you can find on ECMlink's wiki page laugh lol it had no knock even peaking 25psi. And I literally did not touch the tune after downloading it. Works good for a small turbo.

Just make sure it's mechanically sound, and drive it like a bat out of hell.

Its mostly due to all the effort I put into having SD be super smooth, on top of other things.

But as Lucian said, the evo timing map, 22-24 psi and just make sure there aren't any mechanical problems. And be sure to fix those boost leaks. You shouldn't be driving, let alone racing with a boost leak.

No need to clarify I was kidding.

Yeah I should be good than, I already have the evo setup on there. I am on SD so driving with a boost leak is not really an issue, but I do agree beating on it with a leak is not a great idea.

Are you kidding me, lol? Evo timing map on a stock 1g motor with a 14b. You can run 22-24 psi on a 1g timing map and it will bang off 12's all day on a 14b or 16g car with supporting mods. Buddy of mines here was running 12's on the 14b 15 years ago, and that was on a stock 1g dsm sidemount intercooler with stock upper and lower IC piping. We only ran AFC'c and VPC's back then with 1g timing maps, peaking at 24 degrees.

Not sure why you would suggest an evo timing map on a 14b car shuffle . Dialing in a puny little 14b turbo is child's play. Let's just say the map that comes with any ECMlink is good enough to toss in any 16g, 14b car and with minor adjustments you'll be flying. Just keep cranking the timing up till the car knocks a touch. There is no rocket science here. Maxing out a 14b or 16g turbo is easy. I would run no less than a stock 1g timing map until you see some knock. Running a little lean on these turbo's is acceptable since your flowing such a minute amount of air. Been there done that already.

Good time nonetheless, however I would say do it on a 1g sidemount intercooler, then it would be worth tooting your own horn 15 years after people already done it wink

What fuel were you running!? 94 + meth? I am on 91 and my peak is 16 degrees right now, I wanted to bang off a 12 before I installed my meth, but now I think I may just install it and then tune it at the track.

Years ago when Lucian ran a 12.9 on his green I never understood why he was so depressed, years later it all makes sense tongue

Bryan, even with SD, a boost leak WILL affect the car. When I was driving home in the the Spyder last year with a boost leak, the even the fuel trims wouldn't sit where they normally do.

Reza, whats wrong with using the evo 8 timing map as a starting point with a 14b set to 24 PSI on 91 octane?

I'm far from tooting my own horn about doing 12's on the 14b. No sh!t its been done before, and a long time ago. I simply thought I'd share my personal accomplishments, even though knowing that everyone has done better, or could do better.

I wonder what other people pulled off at the track on their first time with the 14b on 91 octane.

If people would rather not hear what I run at the drag strip, thats fine with me. I'll stop, just say the word.

Nothing wrong with it, it is just too weak IMO especially for a 14b. I have always ran a 1g timing map on pretty much all my best passes. rotflmao

I actually find the 1g timing map to be the best of all for lower loads and I just smooth out the peak timing at the top to whatever the car like. That is the way my car has been setup forever, even now at 35+ psi on the HTA3586. A few of my buddies always wonder why my car is soo responsive down low. Well it's not a secret anymore rotate
