Hey Guys,

Took the Talon to the local car wash and it ripped off my plate.

Now I can't seem to figure out how to put it back on.

It was held there before by two blocks...I guess the screw goes into the block, and the punctured back creates a type of "clip" that holds the plate in.

Is there an easy way to do this?

The problem may be a rusted out bracket. A car wash also ripped of the rear plate of my first DSM. Turned out that the bracket, under the bumper cover, that the license plate screws into was rusted out. I have seen the same problem on several 1g's since then.

I had to order a new bracket from a wrecker in the southern US.

Those damn blocks on the 1Gb!
Sorry I don't have any real advice. I had the problem on one car, never solved.

You might need to drill some new hardware into the plastic.

I never use touch car washes for fear of needless damage.

In fact, I also have not paid for a car wash in a long time. Just collecting points between Petro Canada and Esso gets me at least one car wash every couple of weeks. But I also do a lot of driving for work..

Touchless FTW!

Just to update everyone:

I found a "Ultimate License Plate" Kit at Canadian Tire for $9.99.

They had some parts that I put in, screwed in the screw and seems pretty good.

On the bad side, my DSM license plate cover was not compatible, so I'm sans aft plate cover.

Agreed, 1g DSM's are not meant to be taken through those cloth car washes, only touch less. Next time it will be the spoiler!

It might be worth is to check the EVO X side mount bracket! I have it on my Lancer but obviously bumpers are almost same...
Maybe with some minor modifications it would work.
Cheers
