I have a cracked header... No biggey but not pushing it. Tim has a noise. Still driving it.. But not pushing it either. All in all a fun weekend.

Kiggly got second place in the quick 16. With a quicker run, but lost the reaction time.

So everyone's back safe n sound.

I got a Ohio best time of 12.7@118! Granny shifted the whole thing but I'm happy.

Then after Jason Drew pointed out the crack in my wastegate flange on my header.. I was done. Seeing everone was awesome! Especially ziggy. We went on a midnight adventure for food and he told me story's of early Canadian shoot outs!

But we need more Canadians so guys get your cars ready for next year...

The buscher Dsm/evo Shoot Out 25th anniversary!

Yup, all fine and dandy here, zero problems with the car, just the driver was pretty beat after the 13 hour drive Sunday night/Monday morning lol.

My bad Jay tongue better to find out by me telling you than it falling off on the track.

Nice to finally meet you Ziggy, bought a many parts off you in the past and it was nice to put a face to my dealer lol.

I ran a couple test & tune passes, managed a best of 11.8 @ 124, combination of nerves and being up for over 36 hours straight didn't help my consciousness on the launch. Now that the shootout is over, it will be all out at the track to nail off that elusive 10 second pass.

I'll have my pics up in the coming days, nice seeing everyone and see you all again next year.

Oh and Mike Lane, thanks for letting me pop your SO cherry tongue

Another one down for me as well. I made it home in record timing. Left by myself at 11:30pm and made it home at 3:30am. I may actually do that next year too!

I competed in the max effort DSM. I did alright with a best circuit time of 85 seconds.
The winner in the Galant knocked off a 75 second pass(no idea how I'd ever get my car to go that fast)

The Drag passes I was yet again unprepared for, boost control on the compounds is still out of whack.(surprise surprise)
Knocked off a best 12.8s at 26psi with a weak 2.0 60ft.
Then raised the boost and went slower... lol

Had fun as usual, and was super rewarding beating on a 25year old car in the heat for 6hours of autocross and back to back drag passes, then driving it home. Getting 27+mpg smile

See you all next year.

The big problem with max effort is that it's pretty easily won by a car properly set up to turn as it's a lot easier to gain a few seconds advantage on an autocross/road course than on a drag strip. Most of the cars running faster than mid-10's are not going to do well on an AutoX course whereas any DSM setup to turn can easily be made to run 11's without any compromises.

That being said, it also depends on the AutoX track layout as when they make faster (read: straighter) courses it's typically much closer.

As for me, I am sad I didn't make it out this year but I had a great time at the Dream Cruise and my parents did as well, so no regrets. Definitely plan to be back out in Ohio for the Shootout next year, especially since it's the big 2-5!

Glad to hear everyone had a good time and made it home in more or less one piece.

Agreed, they should multiply the drag pass times or something...
I was talking to the galant guy. Asked what kind of suspension setup he was running. he said it was all custom, "special length this, machined plate that, custom valved yadda yadda"

I could have ran an 8 second drag pass, but my average autocross time still wouldn't have let me win...

Ohwell next year...

Well don't get too excited for the max effort. They dropped it as Well as all autocross for 2017. And any car running faster then 10.99 requires a nhra licence. Also it seems that any car racing requires a cage or roll bar.

Jay there's a lot of clarification still needed. NHRA rules state that roll bars and license come into effect at 9.99/135+ mph

We'll see in the coming weeks what comes of this. All started because one person ratted out the event to the NHRA.

Ya. But he's aready stated that 10.99 is gonna be the new shootout time for cages.

I think he's weeding out all the hobbies and going pro event.

He's pissed off and might have it wrong, wouldn't be the first time. I don't think he's weeding out anyone, Dave is many thing but he's not a liar and speaks his mind, he genuinely seems upset about this.

Well he just posted that he's had enough for now and just left for a vacation. The rules were severly changed this year as it was... And it's not the same relaxed race and drink and party event anymore. Either he wants to go pro... Or he is just saying this stuff because nhra is watching him right now. I think he is going pro. With all the 7 second cars now... Its too dangerous to NOT take it seriously. Either way.. I'm waiting for the " no used parts sellers... And then I'm out.

I've noticed it's getting a bit stricter as well. Previous years you were allowed to stand right by the wall where the cars launch, or in the box, or behind them. Now you can't. Asked one of my American guys, comment was "probably to look more professional for the GTR crowd" which may have some truth in it.

Personally, if GTR's would be wiped off the face of the earth I would not miss a single one. Sure they're fast, but not even exciting to watch.

I would like to make an addendum to that: If all R35 GTR's were wiped off....

R34's and the earlier ones (Skylines) are still exciting cars.

I am not going to say they should be wiped off the face of the earth, but I DO think they should get their OWN shootout, and leave the DSM shootout for MITSUBISHI engined cars, as it was before!!

If we wanted to watch GTR's race, we could probably go to any one of many drag race events. I go to Ohio for the DSM shootout!

Althought I have never been to a Shootout (mostly because I hate The Excited States) I agree with Ziggy... it should be a Mitsu shootout. Wissan should go get their own.

So roumour has it.. Some Gabe was kicked out of the shoot out. And ranted on Facebook about how unprofessional it was. He is friends with a nhra official. The official read the post and investigated. This is why most of the struck new rules.

I agree with putting it back to evo/dsm shootout now that the gtr class is so large. Previous years wouldnt have supported much of an event. I still support it no matter what classes are there, hopefully way less breakages next year. If it was an event that was closer to home, I would have left way sooner.

207 mph in the 1/4 is fun to watch no matter what's doing it.

I could do without the GTRs. Another thing i was surprised with was they allowed anything in Bracket racing. So last year I remember seeing a base Subaru running 16s going pretty deep. Again i would like to leave this as a Mitsu event.

Most of the new rules do not apply to us. They are also not new rules. They are just going to actually enforce them. Any track you go to in NA will kick you off for not having a cage when running 10s. I am surprised they were able to do this for 24 years.

I also like the idea of Diapers for the quick 32 as there were so many stops for coolant leaks or oil leaks. The event was still running at Midnight on Sun. The rain did not help.

Our local tracks will let pretty much anything slide, such as 10's without a cage. Hell, they only require helmets at 11.99

Looks like golf cart rentals are no more after that guy split his head open after falling off one Sunday.

Give it time, Buscher is very hot headed and as things cool down, the new "official" rules will be more concrete.

So here's a stupid question! Why haven't we as a DSM community every tried to set up our own "shootout" event?
Has it been tried before, is it the tracks that suck?
I mean, I don't think it's impossible and I'm sure we have enough networks especially with Reza and RTM being connected with so many tuner people.
Just asking so if you've heard this before then bite me bird

We have, it was called the invasion and was just a one day thing.
I haven't had my car running so I haven't organized it like I usually do.
I think between myself and Devon(he seems to be the organizer these days) we could arrange the invasion for next year, I know that cayuga is our usual but if people want to do another track maybe we can figure that out, but would also want to figure out a cool route as that was one of the great things about heading through the Hammer.

We had our "own" event, DSM's are a dying breed and there isn't the drive, nor the funds for them to do it on their own. If you haven't been to The Shootout, there is NOTHING else that compares, it's not a simple little meet with a few races. It's an event that's taken 24 years to get where it's at. Inviting the Evos years ago and GTRs now are quite simply financial aspects, it can't survive on DSMs alone. The rental cost of a track like that are huge. If there's one thing DSMers are, its cheap, and that doesn't go well with large events. We can't even get 20 DSMs to show up with months of planning for a BBQ, good luck trying to replace the Shootout.

True true...
I agree with DSM'rs being cheap. Not to say it has to be just DSM's though.
A few weeks ago I saw about 30-40 Subbies getting off on Mavis and 401 to go to a meet at the Subaru Head office.
I agree it's not like 24 years of history but maybe it might bite.
Cheers

30-40 is nothing, the Shootout this year had 400 people racing alone. This track has a MILE long parking lot and it was 100% full.

Hate to burst anyone's ideas but the logistics are just not there.

Haha...
Nice, no worries. No bubble to be burst, just thought I'd ask as I wasn't aware of it. Not to say we would need 400 but anyhow figured it would have been thought of.

Cheers

Our DSM invasion fizzled hard due to lack of participation (probably because most of them aren't exactly running or schedules conflicted)

We used to have decent DSM meets back in the day but in the past few years, turnouts were just sad. Some times the event organizer didn't even show up to the meet. Hell, I cruise more with the wife then I do with anyone on the board rotflmao

Just keep setting up events and pray that people show up but don't be surprised if they don't.
