Hey Guys, so I met up with a guy named Vadimus(not sure of spelling) who created a program to work on ECU's for Mitsubishi cars. Contact came from Dynotuners so props to Reza! hehe...
This guy knows his stuff for programing. I went to him with an Evo X ECU and he was able to change the Vin to work with my car. He then changed my lights setup and removed the annoying TPS warning light when I'd have winter tires on. Also now can close sunroof with key fob door locks. This isn't a crazy wow factor but to me it was a good contact.
I asked him if he was ok pass the word around and he was fine with it.
PM me if you'd like his contact.
Cheers

Yeah he's good and quick, I got the same treatment on my car. DRL disabled, can turn the fogs on without the low beams being on, little things but for me the main thing was the TPMS thing as it was getting extremely annoying.

I would move this thread to bovis. Althought I love the idea of changing sound of the vehicles functions is cool. Tampering with proprietary software is still not something you to advertise....maybe its just me.

I don't see the issue. We hack and tinker with ECU's all day long, change suspension components and brakes, delete emissions related stuff... I don't see how having more control over fog lights or the sunroof is gonna offend or upset anybody

I just mean the legality of it. I doubt it upset anyone here.

It would most likely only void the warranty if someone noticed you drls not working while you were in for service work. But that could be said for any modification on your car. All depends on how much of a dick the dealership wants to be or what you are complaining about.

Drl = safety..

It's like removing seat belts IMO.

I once T-boned an elderly woman in my '94 beater sentra back in the day, because she didn't see me coming (broad daylight) and primarily because I didn't have drls.

I wasn't at fault thank God.

I'm not sure that by you having DRL's that you wouldn't have T-Boned her! I mean if you can't see a car in broad daylight, how would lights make a difference?
Regardless, belts and lights are a huge difference. I also removed my chime of no belt on! It annoyed me to hell if I had to move the car around at home! santa
In Europe, DRL's are illegal so...

My Warranty is also done a long long time ago but I posted this not to start a debate on legalities but just if anyone wanted to have control of some features. bird

I've always been partial to the fog light drl mod.

At the very least, I would go this route.

Not to get too off topic but I actually think DRLs - especially these days - are more of a hazard than a help. The number of drivers I see with their lights off at night because they think their lights are 'on' due to having DRLs is astounding. It is incredibly dangerous (especially if approaching from behind, particularly in inclement weather) and even when you try to get their attention and let them know most people ignore you or are too dumbfounded to do anything. Many others seem to get all pissed off and then there are the few who actually realize the issue.

DRLs should either be all lights on or only available on cars with auto-on lights (and no 'manual mode' for light control).

Yeah agreed, on the flip side it's really annoying being stuck in front of people in the morning with their highbeams on and they are completely clueless.

I partly disagree with "think their lights are 'on' due to having DRLs". I think most it comes from distraction and confusion from when "manual" lights should be On or Off. Automatic lights completely resolves this issue. (as long as switch is in auto)

I personally like DRLs and think they are functional and helpful for me to see upcoming traffic during day time. Especially helpful when passing slow cars on two way roads.

As I said, if cars have DRLs they should be forced to have auto headlights with no way to force off the auto-mode unless in park/not in motion.

If no DRLs then I don't care whether auto lights or not, people will turn them on real quick when it gets dark.

DRL's aren't necessary the issue. It's the illuminated dash along with it. Because when it gets dark and I can't see my cluster, I would be more inclined to turn on my lights and illuminate it. But when they're on all the time, and I have lights out front, and I'm stupid, how else would I know I need to turn my lights on?

The thing that bothers me even more is when the cops do it. All the new Fords they have for cruisers are the same way. I always see pigs driving a Ford SUV with no lights on, just the dim front DRL's.

Yeah true, for me there is a huge difference between brightness during the day and night, mine is full brightness during the day so it's super obvious if my lights are off.

The issue is now that most dashes are all digital/LED/LCD with no actual mechanical bits - or very few, anyways - it's pretty much always bright enough to read, even when it's dim.

Can he reprogram the uber annoying 5km/hr seatbelt chime? Everytime I am in a drive thru I can't have my seat belt off for more than 5 seconds, this thing just keeps dinging like a mad man. It doesn't seem to know when you come to a stop either and you take it off and immediately it starts dinging. I can disable it on my ford f-150 and the Dodge Caravan at work.

Out of curiosity, couldn't you just disconnect the weight sensor in the seat? Not sure if they are inter-mingled, would be easier than hacking the ecu

If you physically disconnect an srs component you will set a code. Plus usually weight sensors are only in the passengers seat and are independent of the seat belt switch which would also cause a SRS to illuminTe.

Yes one of my favorite ones he removed! Light will be on but no more chiming while changing cars around in the driveway! LOL...
