I picked up this old set of 19" wheels for a song off a part out. They were pretty beat up the with paint flaking and chipped and the original gold color coming through. Tried to flip them but no one was interested. They are kind of ugly after all.

Then I though...I'd like to redo the clear coat on my Talon wheels so maybe I could redo these for some practice and also stick them on the Talon while I redo the other ones.

A lot of hours sanding and clean, coat of primer, 2 coats of color and 2 coats of clear later...I think they turned out pretty darn good!! We'll see how they look and last.

Oh yeah, this was about $140 in Crappy Tire rattle cans. And I spaced out and accidentally sprayed 2 with gloss clear and the other 2 with matte clear...ooops!

Looks good, it's because it's your cookies so you can see it fine.

Thanks. That makes sense. I've never been good at sharing cookies anyway. tongue

Good job as long as the paint will stick and survive daily driving abuse. Sand-blacting and powder-coating are my preferred methods

Yeah, you're certainly right about that, but since they're just a cheap set of wheels I plan to sell cheap, I cheaped out. And since I've never done it before, I'm curious to know how well they do stand up.
