Good point.

Ok I'll likely get in on this again.

I think i'll go with a pound of:
- Cajun
- Bhut
- Medium peppered sticks
- Hot honey garlic
- Medium Teriyaki

Are those good choices? and i'm assuming there is only one choice for the first 2?

$19 per pound total, and you are correct that the first two flavours don't have "heat" ratings.

You named the exact 5 flavours I kept for myself on the last order, so I would say good choice wink

I'd like to add to my order, and make it HOT on the teriyaki, and 1lb honey garlic HOT. smile

So:
1lb honey garlic HOT
1lb teriyaki HOT
= $38

Hey guys, I finally got around to eating the "Cajun jerky sticks" and about 10 pieces in I discovered pretty much 25% of the meat has grown mould on it.

REALLY TURNED OFF RIGHT NOW!

Ok this may be my fault then.

First of all, as soon as I got my last order of 6lbs, I opened them all and tried a piece of each one.

Determined my least favourite was the cajun sticks and left it to last (opened a week ago).

Then, didn't refrigerate it but did seal the bag.

It looks like where ever there is a bit of fat on a piece of meat, it grew white strands of hair which is obviously mould.

As much as I didn't care for this flavour, I still enjoyed it and frack ME, I should have read the sticker I guess.

It's jerky...it shouldn't mould that quickly frown

Notice how the corner store bags of jerky all have those little packs of "you'll die if you eat me" crap in them? And that stuff isn't nearly as fresh as what we're buying.

Though I probably should have been more adamant about the fact that this stuff should be kept in the fridge, so I'm sorry for that.

Mike the stuff at the store also doesn't have fat, I did a lot of reading on making Jerky before I found this guy. It is the fat that makes the Jerky go moldy because it holds moisture.
The fridge definitely helps though, I was at around the 2 week mark when I started seeing mold without the fridge, with the fridge it goes for a much longer time.
Also definitely keep it vacuumed sealed until you are ready to eat, that should help a lot too.

It's not like you made it dude, no need to apologize.

If you read the ingredients on a "gas station bought beef jerky" versus the "real mccoy jerky" we're buying, there aren't ANY preservatives.

Pretty much all natural ingredients.

I'm still sad I lost a pound of what end's up being pretty close to $25 worth of meat...

Anyways, be warned guys. Keep it air free sealed and refrigerated when not snacking wink

Yeah I realize that, but I am just saying the fat holds moisture which doesn't help at all.
You sure you can't salvage any of it?

Sending him the order now, and then I'm probably going to bed.

I'll send out my payment info via PMs in the morning. Hopefully I'll have confirmation from Laszlo by then.

Okay, I finally heard back from Laszlo. He can't say for sure if he'll have the order ready for the 27th, but he'll let me know in a couple days. I'll update this thread when I hear back from him.

As far as distribution, I'll be trying to drive from Hamilton to Mississauga, then Brampton, then back to Guelph. We can make more specific arrangements once we have confirmation on a pickup date.

I just heard back from Laszlo. Unfortunately he won't have the order complete until Tuesday. I should actually be free Tuesday night so I can probably do my rounds then. If I were to guess, I would say I'll be picking up in Hamilton around 7pm, dropping off in Mississauga around 8-8:30, but probably wouldn't be passing through Brampton until after 10pm; possibly close to 11.

Any of the Brampton guys gonna be around later that night?
