Well, the car is facked again... I don't know why I put up with this thing...

Anyhow, I was driving the car pretty hard to work this morning, and as soon as I pulled off the highway I noticed that the car wasn't performing up to snuff. I parked it and heard an excessive 'exhaust/rumbling' noise coming from the engine bay, and knew right away that something wasn't right. I didn't have time to poke around so I just left it. When I turned it on again after work the noise seemed to have gotten worse/more obvious, but I decided to drive it anyway to see what it would perform like. It's almost like there is an exhaust leak somewhere, but then the turbo was making boost and I could hear it spooling (which it wasn't doing the last time I had an exhaust leak) just the car wasn't really moving. Then again I wasn't really pushing it because I didn't know what the problem was. Also, I just put the turbo back on 2 weeks ago and torqued everything to spec, so I was thinking it's unlikely it would be a leak anywhere from the exhaust manifold/turbo. I've only been running the car at 15 psi on my 16G, so not enough to be blowing stuff up I don't think. So then when I got home I tried to listen to the engine, and it seemed like the noise was coming somewhere from the intake manifold. I didn't check for intake leaks or anything, because the engine was boiling hot. Anyone know what this could be? Or where I could start to save me some time? Also, the car burned a lot of fuel... and I wasn't even boosting; almost a quater tank of gas for 25km of highway driving at 3000. However, according to the a/f gauge it was cycling just fine. This is the first problem I've had of this sort, so I'm not sure where to look and point the finger at first.

Remove the exhaust manifold and inspect it for cracks and leaks. Replace with a 2g exh. mani mod.

Yes check for exhaust leaks.
They can affect gas mileage because they will lean our O2 readings.

Do a compression test for peace of mind.

Well, I found my problem (thank you oil leak  )
I have a nice sized hole in my flex section of the downpipe. Hence why it sounded like the noise was coming from the top of the motor and not the front. Yes I'm an idiot laugh embarassed

I didn't think that a hole in the exhaust after the O2 housing would have such an adverse affect on fuel comsumption freak
