Your sliders might be ceased. This happed to my rear calipers. I pulled them apart and lubed the sliders up with some "Anti Cease". They work great now. Give this a try. You should be able to move the sliders in and out by hand. If not they are definatly ceased.

Compress the piston as far as you can. It will fit over.
1990 TSi AWD - Parked since I bought it (Jan24/03) Had it out one day, and busted the trans.

remember with rear calipers, you can't compress with a c-clamp. You have to spin the piston in.

You have to turn the Piston in inorder for it to go in enough for you to be able to put thye Caliper back in.
Also; Anti-Seize is not the best thing to put on the Brake "Sliders". The best is Brake Lube goo.
Anti-Seize will dry up in no time and you'll be having the same problem in no time.
I use a product made by Permatek. You can get the s#it at Crappy or any Part Store.
