So as the topic says. I finally got a parking ticket this year. I had my car parked on the street in front of my house. I have been parking on the street for three years now (not every day of course) once a week at least and it's the first time I got this. And so did my neighbors. On the ticket it says my infraction was that I've parked longer than 3 hours. And I was given the ticket at 3:13 am. Also, the police officer has placed the wrong address of the house where my car was parked. There is no sign of road parking rules in my neighborhood. I don't live on a main road.
Is there anyway to fight this ticket? It's a $15 violation but I can't let some cop run me over with a ticket I don't deserve if I can fight it.
Plus gas prices are a buck a litr and i can use the extra 15.

3 hours on the road is the legal limit wether you are parked infront of your house or someone elses.

Not much you can do about it. Fight it, but the $15 seems menial to fight over.

Yea, 3 hours is the maximum, regardless of the conditions.

usually you can fight the ticket if you can prove you live at the residence. The jerk probably put the wrong address for this reason. Good luck!

Make sure the ticket is legit. There are a bunch of legit looking fake tickets out there.

Dude it won't affect your record, and you're gonna take a half a day off work to fight a $15 ticket. As far as the house number I can ask my wife who by the way is a parking enforcement officer in Toronto, how that works.
Cheers

I know what you mean guys, it's a 15 buck ticket. I guess I was just frustrated. Neways, I guess I'll probably pay it off. I just did't like the fact that the city can benefit on small things like that on top of the many other infractions they are already enforcing.

Thanks Isaque for asking your wife.

I guess I'll be less frustrated if I had only lived in this residence for a couple of months and to find out that they have strict rules in parking on my street. But I've been here for almost 4 years and my neighbors that had the same mishap had been here longer. I don't think they're quite aware as well because they do park on the street on a more frequent occation than I do. I guess that had made me felt it was fine as they seem to have no reluctance in doing so.

And as for the the ticket. it's legit. it has the city's emblem and all the info were there (already had a fake one before). I actually had seen the officer when he was placing the tickets on the other vehicles further down the road since I came out for a smoke at that time and found that banana yellow stamp on my windshield.

FWIW, I think you can call parking control for a special permit if you need to park longer than 3hrs.
Maybe your neighbors have been doing this?

my friend lives downtown toronto and because he doesnt have a proper driveway (its a one way street so most people will park on the road) he somehow made arrangements with the city to recognize his licence plates and not ticket his car at his residence. You could maybe look into doing something like this. I would say fight the ticket, and when you take it to court try to work something out with the judge. (they are usually very fair when it is at your place of residence) However, due to the information on the ticket being wrong, it will most likely be thrown out.

Double check that the license number is correct. They did that to me on purpose sort of as a warning, so I didn't have to pay it.

If you live downtown you can get six month parking permits as long as the zone you live in has not already issued the maximum allotted.

Living in the outer areas of the city is different as everyone has a driveway. But parking officials rarely patrol these areas anyway so is not that big an issue. Heck, you went three years without a ticket, so it only cost you $5 a year!

When living downtown I got a ticket at 12:02 AM on the day after my six month permit expired. Forgot to apply it to the window, fortunately it was waived when I complained at the parking ticket office.
