Since I bought my Talon till this day almost 3 years later I still here stories about the new style lifters, people getting them confused with who knows what, actually buying the old style and thinking they have the new style.

Well incase you haven't seen the difference between them, here are a couple pictures I took.

As you can see the lifter on the left the whole is MACEDONIC compared to the standard lifter on the right that gets plugged with crap in your oil fairly easily causing the annoying tick.

[Linked Image]

The look almost identical in every other way.

Sorry the pics are a little blurry the lighting in my garage isn't the best. Low light and close up pictures don't go well together.

Yup looks like the new style I recently put in that solved my huge lifter tick problem.

They look *very* similar to the new oem style lifters that I recently bought.

No idea if the internals would be the same or if the they are the same quality metal.

When replacing the lifters, make sure to look at the bottom of the rockers, they can be scarred too.

The only difference is the hole at the top of the lifter, the new ones have much larger hole as you can see.

Just pointing out the obvious... smile

The newest lifter design from Mitsu has the exact same size oiling hole as the ones posted on the left hand side of the first picture.

Just to be clear. laugh

so when I go to replace my lifters, I can just order the ones for my year of car, because Mitsu fixed em??

Or do I still need to get 95-99 lifters?

Also, are the 2G ones a DIRECT fit,or are there any mods needed?

Last time I checked with Adam C. the Canadian Chrysler parts depot had a whole wack of the old style on-hand and won't get the new ones until they sell out of the old. So to get the new ones we would pretty much have to go through Tallahasse.

Hey, saw my name thought i'd clear somethings up.

There are three types of lifters the original number MD149309 was used 90 to 97. so most of us have the "old style"

The second supercede PN# MD337687 is the larger hole design pictured above. The newest number was released earlier this year feb. 21 to be exact. It is almost identical to the MD337687 but has internal changes it's PN# is MD377054. This is the newest model and probabley won't be found anywhere but in the states. Pricing is exacty the same so the changes must not be that drastic. I've got the 2nd change up in stock and in my motor and believe me they're way better.

If there is enough interest perhaps i can get a better deal for those interested. List price is $28 dsm is $20.50ea

I've been looking at Marko's 'new style' lifters and noticed that although it has the bigger hole up top, the oil 'input' hole on the side of the lifter is the same size as the old one. Anyone wants to confirm if the OEM new style is the same?

Sorry, this is an old thread, but FYI...

I just received the new new style lifter (# MD 377054) and it looks identical to the one pictured on the left.

As for the insides....who knows???

Welcome back to this thread, everyone..

Now, I have a question..

When I looked in a '95 talon, all the lifters had big holes on them. I thought the new style wasn't out then??

Someone here said something about "new style" and "new new style" that you can only get in the states.

If all 2g's come with the big-hole ones, and 2G's still get lifter tick, why would anyone want to buy these?

Or did this '95 talon have upgraded lifters? I highly doubt the guy wudda upgraded his lifters cuz he was driving around with a clunking noise for quite some time (his fly-wheel was loose!!), so why would he go through the trouble to fix a little ticking? The talon may have been from the states - any difference?

Just a heads up. I received my lifters today from David Mckinney in Texas. They look just like the ones in this picture and only cost me 212.00 with shipping! NO brokerage either.

He was great to deal with and a smooth transaction I highly recommend him if you need lifters for your car.

Peter,

How do we get in touch with him?

And that 212.00 was all included? So basically for $212 Canadian, you had the lifters in your hand?

Good then he is a stand up guy. I got slammed with $75 brokerage/tax and so I wrote him a letter telling him how to get around that for future dealings with Canadians... glad he listened.

The final cost to my door was $218.49. This included the $15.00 shipping charged. I think its a flat rate so wherever you are you get charge $15.00 for shipping.
