Uhh Alberta sucks for DSM's, They are all ragged on and over priced.

I finally found one, its on the higher price side but Im not sure if its worth it or not.

1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
225,000KM
"Aftermarket Turbo" "Aftermarket Exhaust" ( I dont care what they are)

I just talked to him and he bought it for a project for his son but they dont understand turbo cars and lost interest, It runs but pretty rough, "Needs gaskets" and tuning. (Leaks alot of oil)

I dont really care for the engine, Im building a 6 bolt anyway, It also has a boost controller and airfuel guage and leather interior.

Its an hour and a half away, Im not sure, What do you guys think? Front bumper looks popped out? How are these 1g's with higher milage like this, over 200 makes me scared structual wise, I dunno why

I forgot to post the price, He wants 2600 for it, But I think he will go as low as 1900-2000.

It hasnt moved in 2 years I dont think and he said he paid double for it and thought it was alot better at first glance when he bought it.

At a quick glance, the front end looks as though it has been damaged and repaired - bumper is popping, center grill is off-level and the passenger side popup looks crooked as a porn star's poker. May have been accidented. Carfax that thing before you pay anything. Price seems a little steep for something in the shape they stated to you. My .02 cents.

I'm with Gates on this one as well.

However, I am by far as picky as one can be so I would pass on it alltogether, especially when he said it's been sitting for 2 years.

sitting for 2 yrs is killer for suspension and boots, etc.

Thanks guys

My intentions were to swap all the suspension/engine/ interior to make a drag car, I recently got a huge raise so I thought I'd re-do another talon.

Well Andrew, it all depends on what you want to do to it.

If you've got the time, then get it, fix whatever you need. Boots, suspension all that crap you could replace, I mean, how long do you think you'll be on stock suspension for?

Just make sure the body's in good shape. Carfax it, and see what you turn up with.

My suggestion would be something like this:

Some Random 1G AWD Turbo

Consider the prices, 2k vs 3k. But you can see there's pretty much zero rust on the 2nd car: that's one fight that you don't want to have to get into, and pretty much limits the life of a car of this age (14 years+). It also means that it's going to be that one step easier to safety. New cat won't hurt you when you try for emissions either.

Comes with a 6-bolt, and a 4-bolt rear, and 5-speed. If you have a 6-bolt you want to drop in, 6-bolts aren't exactly hard to sell, and probably at the difference between this 3k car, and that 2k car (sure, you could probably get close to a grand for the 6-bolt).

I know you want to be cheap (we all do), but get the most of a car you can for your money, not the least, or you'll be back next year selling it off in parts.

if your gunna make it a drag car, you'll end up going over the whole thing anyways.

I bought my talon for 600 bucks, running, hit, sat for around 4 years.

rear suspension is starting to go after 2 seasons of racing,
fronts are fine.
all my axle boots are fine

definatly look at it before you buy. hour and a half drive to the car could save 10+ hours of work that you arent expecting

Went and looked at another one, This one also has front end damage, Wasnt able to pop the hood and check because buddy wasnt home. But he said it just needs a bumper, Does it look like more then a bumper because the headlights look pushed in?

Heres a very shitty quality video I took , I dont know if you can notice it.

This car is in decent shape other then the front end. 181,000KM , Grrr I hate alberta

See that one shouldn't have to much damage. If you can get a new bumper and probably a front crash beam (Like you need it anyway heh heh) then you'll be set.

*Shakes head* You're a sucker for punishment, Andrew. But I guess that's what being young is for. wink

Shipping is CHEAP. Get one from anywhere in central Canada that's in GOOD shape (someone here will probably help you out with the inspection) and get it shipped up to you.

Would you guys buy a 92 TSI AWD, very hacked but body is decent, needs all new suspension and some random body parts. Engine runs fine but tranny linkages are screwed so its hard to shift but it does go into all gears.

needs front fenders probably (starting to bubble) and hood
no cd player, 2 empty slots
oil light on but sensor isn't working
I assume it needs all new suspension/balljoints etc (it pulls and is weird over bumps)
alignment obviously
exhaust

206,000KM

Depends if its a 6/4 combo and its not over priced. I would go for it. As much fun as fixing these cars are. When your done it is worth it.

I would say thats worth its weight in gold. Remember my burgandy 92. Cause its a 6bolt in that year. You might be lucky like me and have a eprom too. Might be worth it. Just don't sell the Eprom like I did =] Had I known I would get another talon at the time I wouldn't of though.

It's a call that you'll have to make, but the big factor is the price. At $750, it sounds pretty good without actually seeing it.

take my advice, dont buy one with front end damage.
Even if its just a little

I did.
Nothing lines up right ever. pain in the BUTT

Unless you go get it fixed professionally

You guys say oh just get a new bumper and crash beam.
I thought the same thing and ohh i can bend it back or reposition it. or it wont bother me that much.

I did that to my car, everythings still off, no holes line up for brackets no matter how much pulling and pushing you do.

Everythings held on with spacers for bolt holes and zip ties.

but again if your gunna make it a drag car, its not like it matters if things are off.
