Recently I have been noticing that when I accelerate in my NT Automatic Talon, my transmission tends to "slip" (for lack of a better term) and completley disengages (like I'm in neutral) until the RPM's drop to 1000 or 2000. I'm pretty sure it's happening when it's trying to get to the next gear at higher RPM's because if I'm just driving normally, I have no problems. But when I stomp on the gas to say pass some one on the high way, it "slips". Anyone have an ideas or suggestions?? Some one told me to try replacing the transmission fluid??
Any info would be appreciated.

I would start by checking the fluid level first, maybe its low. There is a special procedure for checking it though, check the manual. Its not as simple as pulling the dipstick and see'ing if its at the high mark.

There is also a tranny filter in the 1g auto's and maybe its plugged. You have to drop the pan under the valvebody to swap it though. Its not an easy task, but its not overly complicated either.

Any CE lights on the dash at all?
