I don't have my manual here but from the dsm.org archives this is from a 90-92 Talon/Laser/Eclipse non-turbo, manual transmission (U.S. federal)

In case you need to know which NT it is from - it is not from a 1.8L, I just checked the ECU I pulled and the code doesn't match.

I forgot to say that MD166255 is for a 2.0L NT.

MD159561 is from a 1.8L California car. The 1.8L Federal number would be different.

That can't be right - my DL was CDM.

As I said I don't have my 92 Talon shop manual here, if somebody does...

MD159561 is listed at Conicelli Mitsubishi as being a Calif ECU. Check for yourself at http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=840

Thanks for the responses.

couple of questions:

Does this thing change for manual/auto?

and

Is it 2.0L sohc or DOHC (I don't know if the Eclipse/ Talon/ Laser came w/ one or both) and does it matter.

Thanks

Rishad

what do you need it for?!
The Galant?!

it might not fit, Becasue of the signals that your ECU needs to send to the ECS,

I heard frmo Jeremy chin that Data logger didn't work on his 89 DOHC Galant. But apparantly that device workes fine on NT Talon. COuld be only a pin difference but you never know.

There was NO SOHC Talon,
the ecu in SOHC 8V and DOHC 16 are different
I would assume the SOHC 16 would have another different one too.

Also in Galant trend, the 89 was different from 90 which was different from 92. The 92 non TUrbo HAD KNock sensor so I am sure the ECU is different.

they might be interchangable but not the same

Yes, it is for the Galant, the old one seems to be slowly dying.

hmmm...

Just noticed a light enscription on the case (MD166255) saying '91 Plymouth Laser.

The ECU currently in my car goes by MD166248.

I did hook this new one up (MD166255) and everything APPEARS to be working normally, it runs and all that good stuff.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks

Rishad

what year is the galant?

if everything works then you are good to go!

how about the ECS, is the problem still there?

how did you conclude the old one is dying?

The Galant is a '91 as well.

Everything seems to work fine, my only concerns were MT/AT, and if this was out of a SOHC was I doing any damage.

The ECS has improved 10fold. I had a thought the other day, and bumped up my tire pressure from 30-35psi cold. Guess my tires are too soft???

As far as the old one dying, the car does not like the cold anymore. The idle is very erratic on start-up, sometimes appears as a miss, sometimes just bogs and surges, never is it normal. The car can't be driven w'in the first 5 min. of a cold start either, doesn't die, but just bogs down, esp. when you hit the gas.

Thanks

Rishad

Yeah, but I forgot to mention that it didn't do it w/ the other computer.

Hence my conclusion.

Ya the 1.8 only came SOHC where the 2.0 came in both SOHC (Galant) and DOHC(TALON).

Just incase anyone is curious, the new computer (still not 100% sure what the heck it's from) is working like a charm (knock). laugh

Thanks for the thoughts.
